Shipmaster AI able to Displace units off the map!

So I’ve been noticing something happening more recurringly as i’m playing against the heroic AI in the multiplayer playlist 3 players vs 3 AI, and at one point my two teammates had quit or disconnected, so I hid my army on a corner of the map the AI doesn’t check often, and then tried to have my whole force sneak attack one of the home bases of the AI. This of course triggered all three of them to spam leader powers.
Among the chaos, i noticed my units flash red from the teleport animation of the enemy shipmaster’s Displacement ability. But when i searched the map for my units they were completely gone. I assumed they were destroyed before the teleport so i tried rebuilding, but my population was still about 112/120 instead of dropping to almost 0, and when I selected “All Units” i still saw all the units in the list but when i tried directing them to a point on the map and watched for movement on the mini-map, there was no response beyond the audio cue.

In a separate match (also including an AI Shipmaster enemy) when my forces were wiped out, i noticed i had one nightingale left, and then saw on the minimap that it was out of bounds and trying to fly back, but it kept circling the border of the map and couldn’t get back in.

I assume that this glitch is happening because the AI is using the displacement to try and send the targeted units as far as possible away from the battle, resulting in the Displacement occasionally occurring to a location outside of the playable area since the AI can somehow see and select that external area. It will be a difficult glitch to try and patch, but I wanted to bring it to attention since it caused me to try and fight 3 full armies with only about 8 population space left over to work with. I managed to get a clip later where I ‘lost’ even more units due to this glitch, but I didn’t remember to record when the first major instance happened. I will attempt to retrigger the glitch to provide more evidence.

I can confirm that the AI is capable of doing this when it is playing as shipmaster.

People can also do it somehow. Play with no fog of war and record it and right after a displacement snap to your units to see where they are.

I have been curious about how people do this too.

I can attest to the truth of this. This has happened to me at least twice.

Confirmed, huge glaring AI glitch lol.

This has been brought up in the support section but perhaps it is good its on the main forum too so it gets noticed. The shipmaster AI is almost unplayable at this point eispecially on legendary. And if there is more than one shipmaster then gods have mercy on you… If they cant fix it maybe they should just stop the AI using displacement, at least for a time.

Anyway where the heck was this guy during the Human-Covie war? As soon as The Chief starting causing a ruckus he could have just teleported him into a wall 5 miles away and let the prophets get on with eradicating humanity in peace lol.

Ship Master AI displacement glitch confirmed. It once teleported my Condor Gunship out of the map.

yeah, i’ve had it teleport my units under the map rather than outside of it. I’ve seen some of my units phased through the ground and unable to get back in the map. it’s rather annoying

This happens to me so many -Yoink!- times you don’t even know
