Alrighty, thanks. Just don’t want people thinking that it’s me writing the tags. Lol.
On the bright side, I’ll be back in a day or two to get to work on my shot, so till then. :3

Don’t worry on the tags side, it’s not the first time there has been issues regarding Tags being abused. Bravo and co. are usually good at getting rid and banning those responsible permanently from using the File Share.
Onto the subjects of Screenshot goodness, first of all congrats to everyone who got their Landscape works featured! This new theme of Race is a fun one for me as I take part in the European Grifball Racing Association (EGRA) and Grifball Racing League (GRL), so I have some experience in taking racing related Screenshots with raw matchmaking style footage. (on the subject of the leagues I’m in, one of my friends man aged to get his Track chosen, so hopefully I can get some fresh snaps on Sandstone Slateway when it’s put into the systems on Monday. One thing I will warn, avoid the door’s edges…)
One big tip I want to share with you folks off the bat regarding Mongoose Screenshots, be careful when using the zoom in button with Mongeese. The wheels never render fully if close and look a little off, as I’ve found in a number of my creations.
Other tips I’d like to share include:
If you have your Mongoose going through water, do not zoom in too close as the spray trail disappears, including on the zoomed in mode. You can get some great Screenies though if you have a zoomed out shot.
Certain maps provide cool dust trails behind your Mongoose to add to a piece. This includes Impact, Ravine’s sandy area and Erosion. The same however applies with the dust trail disappearing if you go too close.
Onto my own creations this weekend, I went back into old footage from the last EGRA season I took part in and made these from them:
- Cascading Down
- Chasing Blue
- Bunched Pack
And that’s that! See you guys and gals on the racetrack soon!
I like the intense race action, Z6, really captured the moment and competition. Lovely.
I on the other hand decided to reference on of my fav Machinimas that actually coincided with the race them almost perfectly. It’s in my fileshare, titled “RISKY!”. Check it out and tell me what ya think.
Gentlemen, start your cameras!
It’s off to the races on this week’s theme, and the mongeese will fly.
Before I speed ahead into my shots, I must say Receptor, very good action shots! I really like ‘Cascading Down’, love the line-up and angle of it. Nice!
And Spark, I like the background and lighting in ‘Risky’ (that’s Harvest for you, cool view, bad MP map) and the angle of both Spartans. Great job!
I don’t how my Spartan earned his license to drive, but he sure is a bad driver! I mean, on the road, nobody likes a
Taligater
Then, he flies off the beaten path and into a large rock formation, causing him to eject. This next shot doesn’t really have much to do with racing, but I really liked the pose, so I snagged it.
Get Back in the Fight!
This next pic I really like. It’s titled ‘Heated’… and you can probably tell why!
Heated
This next one I haven’t uploaded to my fileshare because I’m unsure of it. It’s a screenshot in which my Goose takes and tumble and looks like it’s riding on the cliff face.
Wallclinger
And that’s it for Race! I was playing Heavies which Xindus a couple days earlier, and something happened to his tank… I’m not sure if it’s a glitch or meant to happen… but it sure was funny!
Pop Goes the Turret
And that’s that! There’s a couple more shots of the tank in my recent shots if you’d like to see. Until next time, good luck, and I’ll see you guys on the race track!
Great shots everyone!
I, myself, have a few shots for this week’s theme.
I’ve got this, and
this, and
this, and
this, and
this, and
this, and
this, and
this, and
this, and
this, and
this, and finally…
this!
“But wait! There’s more!”
I finally have a fourth “artsy” shot. I consider this one to be, sort of, a spiritual successor to Deliverance. Feast your eyes on Descendancy!
sighs… good times.
Good Tuesday evening (US Eastcoast time)
Lot’s of racing screenshot’s in the forum this week, I will add mine to the count at the end.
@Receptor17 - Thanks for the tips, it helped prepare me for when the focus with the zoom function was off and made me more aware of maintaing the splash and dust.
Of your 3 (only 3…
) “Cascading Down” is my favorite. I like that you caught all of the mongeese in the air. “Chasing Blue” really puts you down where the action is and “Bunched Pack” is a great widescreen shot.
@Spark918 - not sure if that was a typo in your post “Z6” but I will always be willing to accept a compliment!
“Risky” Nice shot and great background!
@ComicBeast - “WallClinger” is my favorite. Novel shot with a great background, looks like a long ways down. Nice shots all!
@Lord Xindus - I really like “This” Great Title!
and I like “This”
Wow!, Well Done on BOTH your artsy shots.!
Thank you everyone for sharing your shots in the forum.
My submissions for the “RACE” theme:
“Family Outing
”
“SNAFU”
“SlipStream Lead” Similar to Receptors Chasing Blue.
“Big Air”
A tip for the Map “Sandstone Slateway” Juicy and CB will really bring out the dust trail on parts of the track where there is good light and a soil road, but makes dimmer parts of the track very, very dark.
So far, my favorite map is “Ridgecrest”. Aesthetically (Really like the village look) and for racing, it is a very nice track.
Good luck to all with submissions for the Race Spotlight and looking forward to seeing everyone’s screenshots in the forum.
Somehow I keep missing the theme until it’s too late, I guess I’ll just have to pay closer attention.
Any ways, I made a new map overnight and I’ll be posting an advertisement image soon, you guys can tell me if it’s a good screenshot or not, I have a pretty good idea where I should take it. In the mean time, I decided to have a little fun with one of the aesthetics on the map and came up with this screenshot:
That’s right, I made another one. This one is much bigger than the one that was featured in Lab Breakout, as you can tell from this next screenshot:
I just got an idea on how to make an illusion that there’s an army of them for a future picture.
I’m still new to taking screenshots, so getting feedback is appreciated. In fact, the screenshots that I posted when I joined were some of my first attempts.

Lol, OOPS! XD
Didn’t even see that, my bad.
Some last minute entries. They’ll all very similar. As usual, I couldn’t decide which worked so I just uploaded them all.
Hey everyone, I hope you’re all having a good day. I meant to post some screenshots here yesterday, but I’ve been very busy recently. An item that was meant to be delivered to me was shipped to the wrong address or stolen. I’m just waiting on an investigation now.
Anyway, as much as I wanted to, I wasn’t able to make more Race screenshots yesterday from the film clips I saved on Monday.
@RECEPTOR 17: I like making Race screenshots and anything to do with a mongoose. You remember my screenshots for the GRL Season 6? I just counted them all on my computer… I had over 170 in total.
Btw, I like Cascading Down!
@Spark918: that’s a very nice screenshot. It looks like a game of Rocket Race. I would love to see that playlist in Halo 4 Matchmaking.
@Z6: lots of good screenshots. SlipStream Lead is cool. Big Air is hilarious. SNAFU is my favourite from your screenshots. Also, I love the scenery and racetrack design of Ridgecrest. From the limited time I’ve been playing in that Race playlist, I really love Solitude on Longbow too. It’s a fun racetrack, in my opinion.
@VinyLeader1071: that looks like a very interesting creature you’ve got forged there. Must’ve taken lots of time and patience. Good job with it.
@MrMartini85: I like the Cosmos screenshot.
I hope everyone likes my following list of screenshots. I wish I had more time to make screenshots from the Race playlist. I’ve had lots of fun playing it. This week, I have a mix of screenshots from oObeX and Draxsonia featuring maps from the playlist, as well as some that are representative and in the spirit of Race with the use of special effects and techniques, to illustrate a more creative and artistic outlook on the theme. Enjoy.

That’s all for this week’s spotlight on Race. I hope to see this newest featured playlist come back to Halo 4 Matchmaking in the near future. I’ve enjoyed it.
Good luck to everyone. I hope people like the list of screenshots I’ve posted. I love seeing the fun, unique, creative screenshots. Sometimes all it takes is a good eye or perspective on different angles of the map/racetrack, as well as great timing and positioning of all the characters and details captured in a photo. And sometimes, most importantly, patience is the key to revealing original and thoughtful photography or art.
I would like to post one more screenshot, but I’m not sure if Warthogs are allowed, lol. Maybe next time? This next screenshot was made more than a year ago for one of GrifballHub’s racing leagues.

I hope my post has been somewhat helpful and inspiring. Thank you everyone, and good luck!
Congrats Everybody! Beautiful shots.
I figured I’d beat everybody to this since it was the first idea that popped into my head when I saw the “classic” theme:
(would you kindly ignore the Mantis in the distance? lol. This annoyed me so much I took another one HERE but I don’t like the pose as much).
And BATTLE CREEK
I got a few good ideas for Halo 2, so I’m sure I’ll have plenty for this theme (brilliant theme, btw.)
NOTE: MAKE SURE YOU TAG YOUR SCREENSHOTS “CLASSIC” ON YOUR XBOX, IT WON’T STAY TAGGED IF YOU TRY TO TAG IT HERE ON WAYPOINT.
Of course, ComicBeast got a two-fer… again… Congrats! Congrats to everyone!!
Nice shots Martini! Although, if it were me, I would’ve probably used full Raider.
Classic theme, huh? I’ll try and get some later.
Just wanted to give a heads up to everyone that you can grab some Classic Forge maps in our Remakes thread to get some screenshots of for the next spotlight:
https://forums.halowaypoint.com/yaf_postst127882_Download-Halo-4-Classic-Map-Remakes.aspx
> Nice shots Martini! Although, if it were me, I would’ve probably used full Raider.
I tried that at first, but I thought the Ricochet shoulders offered the closest thing to the tiled Hayabusa shoulders from Halo 3. Though you’re probably right when it comes to the chest the chest piece.
> I tried that at first, but I thought the Ricochet shoulders offered the closest thing to the tiled Hayabusa shoulders from Halo 3
While the Ricochet and Hayabusa shoulders are similar in that aspect, the Ricochet shoulders are far too big and don’t really look that good IMO.
Okay so this theme is trickier than I thought it would be. I got five, they’re not that great, and I think I may be done with this one … at least for a few days.
Here they all are (including the two from above, just wanted to lump them all together):
Combat Evolved:
Halo 2:
Halo 3:
Hey guys! Haven’t been here in a few days… soooo… Classic, huh? Not really liking this theme.
But, here are a few shots I snapped off. Blood Gulch and the Pit are the focus of the pics, and guess which ones have everybody’s favorite Red Team soldiers in them?
A homage to Rooster Teeth’s RvB Blood Gulch Chronicles, here’s a shot that contains absolutely no skill whatsoever, and just two Mark V Spartans standing there… one of them asking the line the iconic line that started it all:
Why Are We Here?
Grif and Simmons are back for a curtain call, this time in their trusty (and probably rusty) Warthog. You can see one of the bases in the background, but other than that, those two shots really didn’t do anything to show off the map like the theme probably intends to.
Charge!
Taking the game a few years and titles foward, we find ourselves in Halo 4’s Bullseye Pack remake of The Pit. The following shots, in a nutshell, are a Recon and ODST jumping around on the map. Like I said… not a fan of this theme at all. :
The Pit
I mean… this theme… if I wanted to get really down to it, I guess I could say
It’s the Pits
So that’s that. Keep up the good work, and I’ll talk to you guys later.
> snip
First off, congrats on the second two-fer (you remember what I said earlier about them, right? Time to get cocky. lol)
Second: why didn’t I think of Recon for Halo 3? I went with the Raider / Hayabusa look. You seemed to be having better luck with the CE theme, though I figured that would be where I would shine, but I’ve been having a dreadful time trying to get anything “nostalgic” looking.
Sorry to barge in, but I was just wondering if anyone knows what happened here.
I took this screenshot and for some reason it went all fuzzy and blurry. Is this a glitch, or just something that happens in Halo 4.
Also, if anyone could give me feedback on how to improve these screenshots, I would be grateful.

That vision blurr is a little effect you get from being close to an explosion, nothing to worry about there chocobo and I must say that is a great Screenshot with the monochrome look plus the blurred Spartan! I’ve used a similar effect with some of my pieces, including my most popular one Skyfire.
With your other two pieces, they look really good in terms of lighting and angle so well done! The only things that I think need some improvement is the cropping out of the weapon, it feels like the Screenshot’s had some of it snipped away due to only seeing that chunk of weapon. Try doing the recruit one with a side-arm or small rifle and you might see a marked improvement in them.
Finally, welcome to the thread! May you enjoy your time here and post up some more of your stuff!
+++++++
Evening all! Bit late but I have my Classic Screenshot finally made!
I decided to play on one of my favourite Halo 3 map remakes, Narrows (the one that was essentially a massive bridge with man cannons on one side) and I tried to go with a faded memory/flashback kind of look, akin to Red vs Blue when Church/Epsilon is inside his own mind.
Thus I present:
I used the Olde Timey and Colorblind FX to make it look old to begin with, but then also added the Speed Boost effect to gain a unique pale blue tinge to it all, to help make it look like a flashback.
In terms of armour, I decided to bring out the closest rendition to my old Halo 3 armour, which consisted of the Hayabusa chest, Scout shoulders and Rogue helmet. Not the perfect likeness, but I was happy with it.
I might try one final creation before tonight, so stay tuned!
