I’m pretty sure this is my first time posting in this thread. I’ve decided to take a shot at this week’s photo spotlight and was wondering if I could get any feedback.

The shot’s called Moving Forward.

With this photo, I wanted to capture the idea of hope and expansion. I felt that the skin I chose for the Assault Rifle fit in well with the setting I was taking the shot in. The reason the photo is called moving forward is because the spartan appears to be looking towards the future, while the ship in the background is reinforcing that idea of moving forward.

So what do you guys think? Is it a worthy submission?

Well… I’m no screenshot expert, but I say it’s a great shot and definitely submission worthy! I’m serious, nicely done! The title nicely matches, and the glint you captured is a great touch. Keep it up!

I had a description that I was proud of on the same shot, but for some reason ‘Going Green’ is against Xbox Live regulations… yes, I’m proud of the description:

Yeah, I discovered that Juicy turned that DMR skin pink and it made me very happy. I like “Going Green” because, well, who doesn’t love the smell of green?

RJCCJ: Lovely shot. Landfall is one of my favorite places to take screen shots. Nicely done.

Thanks to you and MrMartini85! I like you screenshot as well. The wepon skin you chose definitely fits your spartan and the setting around you. I laughed once I saw your description. XD

I also like yours MrMartini85. I think my favorite is definitely Nebula. It looks fancy. Plus, i’m always a fan of space shots.

Heads up, I recently updated -Agitation-, with it’s much better predecessor as well as the addition of -Salvage-, which was mostly for the entertainment, made with Nights Wake, a friend if mine.

@Stealth4ce – my favorite is “Fog of War” I like your background choice with the dark colors and having the striped pipe(?) in the foreground. To me it gave it a more 3D / “this is happening” effect.

@MrMartini85 – of your “salmon” series “Worst Camo Ever” is my favorite. I like the foreground and background scenery and the title definitely fits. Nice shot’s all! :relaxed:

@ComicBeast1212 – I like “Go Green”. Shatter is a great map for green and I like your choice of backgrounds.

@RJCCJ – “Moving Forward” is an excellent shot. Background, colors, angle and positioning were great choices. Well Done!

@Spark918 – I really like “Agitation” great choice of colors with the background. Outstanding shot! :relaxed:

Autumn is looking really nice, Z6. I love to see unique and new locations being used rather than the recycled, popular material. It gives off a tranquil aura, much like a late Autumn sun.

I posted at least one screenshot of all my completed or nearly completed maps, and no good advertisement works without a good picture. The name of the maps are labeled on the image, but due to space I can have only so many maps up at once. I will take the screenshots off of my File Share at a later date to make room for my maps.

I’m currently working on some never before seen maps in the history of Halo(that I know of)that will change the way people forge:

The map Lab Breakout is a truly dark and scary map where the infected aren’t the only things trying to kill you. The map focuses on visual, sound, and feel to give the greatest sense of being there your self.

Believe Nothing is a real illusion map that will force you to forget everything you know about navigation since I’m pretty sure you’re not supposed to be able to walk up walls, or even through them.

Control is a VERY difficult map to produce since the design makes every game different due to the field changing as the teams progresses. Every decision a member of a team makes changes the layout of the map. I failed making this map three times already because a project like this needs a lot of preplanning, you can’t jump the gun with something like this.

The big boss battle map is in need of revising since the original design doesn’t seem to be working correctly (it will work, just not how I had original thought it would) The idea is to create a map that has the players battling a giant monster that is trying to kill you, and yes it does move (sort of, I just got a few ideas on making it look even more alive while typing this)

If anyone has any tips or tricks that they know of then it would be greatly appreciated. I’ve already scanned through Youtube and dug up every last trick that I could find, and I’ve managed to find my own along the way. I like to combine every trick that I find to see how I can make a map out of it, so far everybody loves my ideas and I was setup as the lead go to Forger for the group I’m with.

I do happen to have more screenshots to share with everybody, however, I am glad to see that this week’s theme is producing quite the amount of awesome screenshots. Even RJCCJ has joined in on the fun :slight_smile: .

Comicbeast1212, I can tell you really like Skyline alot and have been improving on your photography with this map. Also, the idea of utilizing the Battle Rifle with Arctic Skin with Colorblind for your photos was a good idea, I like both photos alot :slight_smile: . 'Go Green!'is very bright, but does a good job showing off the Battle Rifle with Salvage Skin. It actually looks as if your Spartan-IV is climbing. Well done with your screenshots.

MrMartini85, I like your idea of utilizing the Juicy FX to create a pink effect with your ODST and his DMR. ‘Worst Camo Ever’ is my favorite of the first three photos, as it has the feel that the ODST is traveling throught he jungle, even though the reasons are unknown. ‘Nebula’ is awesome, just speechless on that one, everything comes together in that photo. For your magnum photos, my favrite photo is ‘Any Last Words’ as the Spartan’s armor and weapon has a rust colored feel to it, which I like alot. Well done with your photos :slight_smile: .

RJCCJ, welcome to the screenshot community. We all hope you continue to produce screenshots. We had a talk already about the dumb luck of us both producing a photo showing off a weapon on Landfall called ‘Moving Forward’, my variant here . Do not let this random occurance deter you from creating future screenshots. Your style of showing off the Steampunk variant of the Assault Rifle is a bit different than mine and rather nice. I can imagine you will create more awesome photos in the future and keep up the great work :slight_smile: .

Z6NITRO, I am really impressed with your photos as each seems to be color themed based upon the weapon, which works very well for the photos. ‘Autumn’ is Orange-Dark Brown, ‘Golden’ is Green-Gold, ‘Bad Blood’ is Grey-Red, NWU Blue is Blue-Black, and ‘Storm Warning’ is Cyan-Grey. The dynamic background of each photo compliments the respective other elements very nicely as well. Well done with your photos :slight_smile: .

Spark918, Very clever idea with ‘-Salvage-’. It’s different scales of green that go together perfectly without fancy FX. Spring Green, Blue-Green, and Sea Green, very nice color choices for that photo. Your recreation of ‘-Agitation-’ feels a bit more menancing compared to the original photo. Nice utilization of dynamic angles in that photo. Well done with your photos :slight_smile: .

VinyLeader1071, you have some really amazing original ideas for maps. Each photo is awesome as it either shows action or unique elements. If these photos are just ‘Map Advertisements’, I can’t wait to see what you can do once you start taking screenshots with FX for the weekly themes or for fun. I really hope to see more from you in the future. Keep up the awesome work.

I have restored this map to its former glory, I was even able to improve it. Now there is the caged monster (you all saw it) that will attack you if too close, two appearing and disappearing eyes of monsters that will kill you when approached, and the last one will simply eat you. Through all that, you have to worry about the other monsters running around (players) that are just as hard to find, but beware of the Alpha, it’s more deadly than the others (you’ll know it’s him when you see it)
I also placed more sound sources to give life to the installation, and replaced parts of the ceiling to bring in more light (It’s funny how the light actually makes the map darker, so avoid it if you can)
The barren rooms are now filled with equipment you would expect in a research facility and the maintenance shaft is easier to spot in the dark from the red light. The previously empty halls are now filled with rubble, showing the state of the decaying building
There are more menacing messages on the walls and floor, one of which will change through the course of the match. Of course I would make all of the doors destroyable so that the player can have more inter action with the map.

The only reason the map isn’t up yet is because I’m currently experimenting with the traveling light to see if I can get any of the infected to light up as it passes them in the hall. If it does work then the map will be that much scarier. The idea is that one second it’s a dark empty hall and the next there’s a handful of infected lunging at you.

To survive you need to work together as either Guard, Scout, Shield, or Vision.

Guard -
Equipped with a Magnum and a Shotgun with no special attributes.

[Best at taking down the escaped experiments, easier to be killed]

Scout -
Equipped with an Assault Rifle and a Magnum, carries a Regeneration Field, has better Mobility, and extra ammo.

[Can stand their own for a set time until back up arrives, Medic]

Shield -
Equipped with an Assault Rifle and a Magnum, carries a Hardlight Shield with AA efficiency and extra ammo.

[Can prevent the team from being over run by creating a barrier, vulnerable to attack when shielding]

Vision -
Equipped with an Assault Rifle and a Plasma Pistol, uses Promethean Vision.

[Can see anything that moves in the dark, easy to be killed]

The cone men were too primitive and I figured that using weapons would give me what I want. If I used the Trait Zones around the figure then I would be able to restrict players from picking up weapons, meaning I can have this thing out in the open and no one can take it apart.

I’ll be uploading images of it without the SFX and the rooms so that light can get to it. There will be images from different angles since your able to walk all around it and it would still look natural.

The Map Advertisements is me running around so that I can have natural looking screenshots to put up. Some of the images do not show certain parts of the map like Downtown Gorifeda where if you looked at the screenshot Real City(original name) you’ll see the part of the map the first image doesn’t show.

If anyone cares, I’m going to upload a giant flaming Taco that I made in Halo Reach. Yes the map is on the napkin and you can drive inside the giant taco.

Nice touch with the Battle Rifle, without that color scheme the picture wouldn’t have come out right. The bright color on the gun draws your attention to it so that you’re attentively aware of the fact that the player is holding the weapon, otherwise you wouldn’t have noticed the gun because the players bright colors and glow would draw to much of your attention. That is why you must always have a color on the same level so that the viewer doesn’t focus on only one spot.

The background is good too since it lets the viewer focus on the desired subject. Having bright colors in the background would’ve been too distracting.

Wow man, thanks! I didn’t how much of expertise my screenshot apparently had… I mean, I totally planned all of that… cough.
The shots for your maps are very intriguing, each and everyone of them (especially Lab Breakout, dat creature), and I honestly hope you make room on your File Share for them soon. If it’s alright with you, I may use them in an upcoming gamenight I’m hosting Saturday (because I’m pretty bad at making original maps myself :P)

And I’m not done with being ‘snazzy’ yet! Seeing how the bulletin was pushed back until tomorrow, I decided to use it to my advantage and hammer out a few more shots!
This collection focuses solely on the Plasma Pistol Boilerplate skin! The golden-steel expansion of weapon skins fit in great with Adrift, IMO, and I chose the PP because of it’s overheat function. I tried some with the Storm Rifle as well, but they didn’t come out as good as these. Enjoy! :smiley:

Two very similar shots, taken within a second or two of each other. But, each caught my eye, one as cool, the other as funny so I uploaded both of them. :stuck_out_tongue: They go against what VinyLeader said about a bright-ish background, but Adrift is either dark or bright, no medium, and chose the bright side.

Overload
I like the… well, the overload on this shot. The bright against the dull background.

What’s that? Somebody doesn’t like my shots?

The map Lab Breakout is finally up. My Slenderman map is still the scariest, but Lab Breakout has a darker feel to it. Make sure your sound is on while playing to get the maximum experience.

You can use the maps for your game night if you want. Just send me a message if one of the other map screenshots look interesting to you, the map name is labeled on the photo, I’ll upload the maps that you want to see. Also, I want as much of a detailed assessment of the maps that you can put together so that I know what I should improve upon for future maps (It doesn’t have to be a full length paper, I just want to know if it was fun or if the map is missing some cover)

I focus more on what others reaction of the maps are, while designing them, than I do since the artist/engineer is sometimes too stubborn to admit that their work is trash. The maps are my ideas, but the layout and design is based on the action and reaction of the players.
