Share Your Screenshots, Tips, and Tricks

Got a screenshot for you guys.

“Trail’s Gone Cold”

Not as many FX on this one. This is mostly a feeling or storylike screenshot.

Edit: I was planning on doing something story like with this. Maybe continue the Tracker’s mission and such. To give credit where its due, this idea was whole heartedly influenced by stealth4ce’s idea of a Spartan IV going on a journey and such. You rock bruh.

Sorry I can’t post the link, but its in my file share. (I must sound like a broken record haha)KOTH will have to wait until Monday. I will post something for the Master Chief and hopefully the Glitchtacular theme at that time as well. Until then, take care guys and keep the goodness coming.

Good evening everybody.

I do have another round of screenshots to share, from Wreckage again, but this time sharing the recently found glitch with friends, which led to some really amazing screenshots I wouldn’t have been able to get otherwise, but first there is a new photo by topsniper707, and a reply to my flood humor.

I really like your photo and the utilization of white in ‘Trail’s Gone Cold’ topsniper707. The photo does speak of a story of a Spartan-IV tracking something, but what can that something be, and since the spartan lost track of it, can the Spartan regain track of it? Very nice photo, was this photo taken on Longbow by chance? Keep up the great work with your screenshots. I also cannot wait to see what you have in mind for my two themes.

As for the flood humor, Comicbeast1212, I was actually reminded of Dane Cook’s ‘Creepy Guy at work’ with the snicker’s reference. “By the way, here’s a Snickers. peanuts, caramel. Put that in your mouth. Enjoy that.” I can see the flood eating the candy bar, wrapper and all, lol, then it making it’s funny sound (The one when it hits another player).

With the new set of photos from Wreckage, I shared the glitched map variant with some friends and we thruster packed out of the map. If I recall correctly, those towers were meant to shoot ships out of the sky. Nothing was ever said about spartans  .

Flying Out of the Junkyard I
Flying Out of the Junkyard II
Flying Out of the Junkyard III
Flying Out of the Junkyard IV
Flying Out of the Junkyard V
Flying Out of the Junkyard VI
Flying Out of the Junkyard VII
To the Sea

I really have to say this map has some unique lighting with the sun when in the sky. Also, as a way of thanking Cizlin, RJCCJ, StrikingFate, and Mecha Sh0ckwave for assisting with the photos above, I have taken the liberty of creating additional screenshots just for you four, so I hope you enjoy  . I also want to thank VooDoo2012 for assisting as well.

RJCCJ-Reactor
RJCCJ-Assault Rifle
Mecha Sh0ckwave-Railgun
StrikingFate-Battle Rifle
Cizlin-Spartan Laser

Well, that’s everything I have for now. Enjoy the new screenshots, have a great night now, and keep the awesome screenshots coming. Hopefully, some new Wreckage photos will pop up from other people soon with the utilization of the glitch  .

I am thoroughly impressed. I would easily consider this one of your most professional shots, and I’m not just saying that because you dropped my name in there (although that always helps). Haha.

First off, before I start complimenting the elements within the shot, I want to say that I love the fact that you’re making a story out of the shot. That is something that can be kind of difficult to do sometimes but is very rewarding. I have a lot of respect for people who emphasize the concepts in their screenshots (like Tayderp) and I think that’s the direction you’re going. It’s just so neat to see people putting their own spin on screenshots and yet it having its own feel. It’s very cool. So bravo.

I love the fact that everything ties in together. The title I think is an underrated tool in screenshots, but I would tend to believe that it’s a very important addition to the shot. I was once told that the border around a picture in a picture frame is just as important as the picture because if you get the wrong color or whatever it just doesn’t work. The title is the same way, and you nailed it. It works. One of the first things that I noticed was the connection between the snow and the “Trail’s Gone Cold.” When you can put phrases that people have heard before and then put them to art, it is a wonderful thing.

I also think armor choice can be very effective. In this case, choosing the tracker armor for this tracking expedition was a top-notch pick. It just makes sense! Then making the armor white is just going above and beyond.

The location… Wow. Just wow. I honestly couldn’t figure out where that was taken for awhile. And even still I wouldn’t be able to pinpoint the exact place. Maybe the map, but I wouldn’t be able to replicate your shot at all. The sky is a beautiful backdrop for the pure un-adulterated snow.

Congratulations on another successful shot, my friend. I am looking forward to seeing what you do for the KotH theme. I’m still baffled. Haha.

Happy Memorial Day Weekend All!

@Topsniper707Trail’s Gone Cold” is Excellent! Really great shot and title.

@Lizking10152011 My favorite of yours is “To The Sea”, Really nice colors and setting.
btw, I took “Acid Rain” close to the where the electrical shorts are on the blue man cannon side, I was never able to forge up high enough past the boundaries to get a clean shot of the charges (they would always pixelate when zoomed in).

Not sure if Clang of The Hill counts for this weeks KoTH theme, but I enjoy CoTH.

King Killer

Rise of the King

Blade Runner

and something different and unrelated to this weeks theme:

FotusLand

Looking forward to seeing everyones screenshots this weekend and good luck to all those creating shots for this weeks KoTH theme!

@TopSniper:
Your shot is well-played. Like the ‘untold story’ of it.

@lizking:
I still don’t know what you’ve done… but it’s still awesome.
From the ‘Flying Out of the Junkyard’ series, the second one would have to be my top pick. But I couldn’t help but think of the term “I must go; my people need me!” for the fourth. Or any of them, really.
‘To the Sea’ is also pretty good.

As for the player/weapon set-up… ‘Cizlin-Railgun’ is definitely my favorite. I like the sun silhouetting the Spartan, then the tiny spark of the Railgun in the center.

@Z6NITRO:
I don’t see why they wouldn’t accept Clang shots… it’s all in the same.

But, out of the three, I’m gonna have to go with ‘Blade Runner’. I also like your armor colors in them. Reminds me of… Skittles.

‘FotusLand’ is eye-catching, I’ll say that!

Now to try and capture some KotH shots myself… got a couple ideas in my head… but I think I’ll just it play out this time. Because great things can come from mistakes…

I am glad you liked ‘To the Sea’ Sadly only possible legitimately by glitching out the map to go out that far. As for ‘Acid Rain’, I really did enjoy it. Did you see Corrosive Wastes ? I assume this was the corrosive cloud that rained acid on that poor spartan-IV?

As for your new photos, very interesting Clang of the Hill/King of the Hill photos. The blue color scheme works well on Haven, and the hill FX itself is also nice when combined with the armor color. ‘FotusLand’ in particular is rather vivid with color and interesting in terms of creating the photo itself. It looks as if this Spartan-IV may have found some ancient technology. Forerunner? That is for the interpreter to decide. Very nice photos, keep up the great work  .

It is simple really, I put a teleporter in a part of Wreckage where there was electricity to try to get a photo op. Under normal circumstances, the game would have considered such an area a ‘kill zone’, but oddly, it glitched and elevated my Spartan-IV instead and treated the area as a ‘Soft Kill Zone’. From there, I set up trait zones to allow 300% player movement speed and infinite Armor Abilities. Afterwards, to put matters to the test, I spawned thruster packs to see if I could get outside the map, and from going so fast with the thruster pack constantly thrusting, you can, although you die.
>
> Once you die though outside the confines of the map, in theater mode, you can explore the outer areas, if you flew out of the map properly. I am glad you enjoyed the photos that have come of this glitch  .

@Lizking - I believe you are correct that the cloud in Corrosive Waste is over the area of the electric charges and where I took the screenshots

@ComicBeast - eye catching does seem to sum it up nicely…

Thank you both for your comments!

So I got a little lazy for last week’s “Shotgun” entry and merely tagged some old shots accordingly and I ended up breaking my several week streak. Shamefulness.
So, I tried for KOTH and, in my opinion, didn’t have much luck. Here’s what I got:
(p.s. please forgive the utter lack of creativity in the names. It’s laughable, but at least there will be no confusion as to what I’m attempting with these.)

“You Have the Hill”

“King of the Hill”

“The Hill”

“Hill Contested”

“Holding the Hill”

“Gained the Hill”

Martini… those are pretty dang good! I had seen them before in the File Browser, and my favorite is still ‘Hill Contested’. I love it!

Now it’s my turn to lazy. I couldn’t really come up with a decent shot, exam chaos, and KotH was never my strongsuit anyway… :stuck_out_tongue: Oh well. Good luck to everyone, and I’ll be sure to have one next time!

@MrMartini - "I agree with ComicBeast “Hill Contested” is my favorite. Good job on all six!

I did get one in-game CoTH/KoTH this week:

New Hill

and I do have 3 more non-related to this weeks theme:

Night Raptors

Fotus-o-the-Wisps

Times Run Out
I wanted to call it Demon Stalker but Waypoint did not like the name, not sure if it was the word Demon or Stalker. The red flames (Quickochet- I am not sure if the red flame is in the other ricochet games), definition and background are still a work in progress….

Good luck to all with screenshots for the KoTH Spotlight theme.

Really enjoy seeing everyone’s screenshots in the forum!

Thanks Nitro & Beast for the reassurance.

KOTH is a bit tricky in that, well, I don’t know how to make a screenshot say “KOTH” except to have the Hill barrier shown. So I was either looking for something that specifically spoke “KOTH” (i.e a group of Spartans standing around in an illuminated ring) or just anything that looked cool that just happened to be during a KOTH match … which, to me, could be anything.

And Nitro, “Fotus-o-the-Wisps” is a spectacular picture. Nearly monochromatic, which couldn’t have been easy.

Congrats everybody on this week’s theme … Z6NITRO got a two-fer!

Holy mother of potatoes, Nitro… ‘Fotus-o-the-Wisps’ is one of the most beautiful shots I’ve ever seen. Epic job!

Congrats to everybody who made in the KOTH theme! Or anybody who tried… you at least had more imagination than me. :stuck_out_tongue:
But I’m back this week for the BlackWhite theme! Time go yin-yang! Old timey lookin’!

Elementary, my dear Spartan.

Congratulations to the KotH winners. Seriously. It’s hard to cook up unique ideas for that so bravo.

Looking forward to what this “blackwhite” theme brings. Black and white pictures have a way of giving shots extra emotion so I can’t wait to see what kind of meaningful pictures you guys whip up.

Congratulations to everyone in this weeks Koth/Coth theme.

Well done MrMartini with “Gained the Hill”

@MrMartini and ComicBeast - Thank you both for your very kind words, it is appreciated.

“Fotus-o-the-Wisps” I WISH I could say that I had it all planned out before the shot….

I was playing around with the Regeneration field and the hammer on top of a pile of sandbags up close to the ceiling lights.
The 2 little spheres and the green tint come from the Regen field and the ceiling lights lined up pretty nice. I just happened to be in the right place, at the right time to catch it.

Should have bought a lottery ticket that day….

Looking forward to seeing everyone’s screenshots this weekend and next week.

I have started the weekend early playing on “petetheducks” Mammoth:

Mammoth & MC

Mammoth & MC bw

Have a great evening/morning!

Good morning screenshot artists.

I finally have something for you guys, albeit its only one shot, though I hope it will satisfy multiple cravings. This is for the black white theme as well as the Tracker line I have going. (Which I have many great things planned for, you’ve seen nothing yet ;D)

Okay, the shot is called Wander. The name for this is two-fold. One is that it pretty accurately describes what the Tracker is doing. Two is to express my love for the old PS2 game Shadow of the Colossus. The protagonist in it was Wander, if you wonder how exactly I was making the reference. But kind of as a spoiler, these two characters have a similar path to achieving their goal. What that goal is though, ah just wait a while.

By the way guys, sorry I haven’t been able to put many screens out though I’d promised I would. I have been rather busy lately.

Good evening everybody.

It has been one month since I announced my two monthly contest themes, and it is my turn to keep up on my side of the bargain. After the two posts, I will be PMing the winners their codes, so it is time to share the winners and explanation of why their photos were chosen.

The first theme was ‘Thank You BS Angel: Spartan 117’, a tip of the hat to BS Angel for being such a great forum admin during her time as such, and as a way of thanking her, acknowledging her liking of Spartan 117, The Master Chief as her favorite Halo character. Contributions are in and here are the winners:

First Place-Cloaked Master Chief Avatar Armor (Codes for both Male and Female)
-Goes to Z6NITRO for Mammoth and MC .

First place for this theme was truely very hard to determine and it was really close, but this photo won first place. Not just does it show the Halo 4 Master Chief in action, but also shows his support of working with the UNSC along side a Mammoth. The placement of the Mammoth, Warthogs, Chief, etc, really line up in a way that can tell a story as well. Well done Z6NITRO  .

Second Place-Corburlo Emblem
-Goes to MrMartini85 for Luck .

This nice photo won second place. This photo gives the feel of John-117 survivng on a flood infested planet due to his ‘luck’ so to speak. Halo 4 variant armor was also a nice choice. Well done MrMartini85  .

Third Place-Halo 4 Haven Premium Xbox 360 Theme
-Goes to Z6NITRO for Front Line .

‘Front Line’ has a pretty interesting feel to it. The background is unique and can be determined to be a large number of things. As for John-117 himself, this photo feels as if he is on the move. If I recall correctly, this photo was used in one of the bulletins as well. Well done  .

Fourth Place-Ghost Avatar prop
-Goes to MrMartini85 for Sierra 117 .

This photo’s setting had a Halo: Combat Evolved feel to it, very nice utilization of the map outside of Complex for this. Mark VI was a nice choice, however, using Mark V would have added to the Halo: CE feel even more. Nevertheless, great job with this photo.

Fifth Place-UNSC Shirt prop (Codes for both male and Female)
-Goes to MrMartini85 for Haven 117

‘Haven 117’ does indeed show blatent abuse of both Colorblind and Next Gen FXs and actually would make a nice contribution to the weekly ‘blackwhite’ theme hint, hint. This photo is different, yet awesome due to it’s execution. Well done once again.

BS Angel was always kind and helpful to us during her time as Forum Administration in many different ways (Each of us have our different reasons to thank her), so as a way of thanking her, here is our recognition of her past actions through creating screenshots of her favorite Spartan John 117. Thank you BS Angel, and also thank you to everybody who contributed to this theme. Next theme, Glitchtacular, then I PM the winnings.

The Second theme is ‘Glitchtacular’. This theme was more of a personal one, as I wanted to see who had some interesting experiences and if they could be duplicated for screenshot purposes. Needless to say, some very interesting photos and glitches have come from this.

First Place-Storm Rifle with CHL Skin
-Goes to Cizlin for Dive .

Cizlin shared his glitch with us involving phased gravity hammers that ‘stored’ sniper rifle style weapon shots until one of the hammers was picked up, in which all the stored shots were fired simultaneously. This glitch can be recreated, and honestly can provide fellow photographers with many new fun ways to create screenshots. I feel this glitch contribution was an extremely helpful one and due to it, it wins the Gold here, congratulations Cizlin  .

Second Place-Corburlo Emblem
-Goes to Z6NITRO for Banshee Ghost .

From what I have seen, blackscreen can cause all sorts of glitches and lagging. Z6NITRO has shared a reloading Banshee coming out of blackscreen that looks a lot like a Manta Ray. Very nice catch, well done  .

Third Place-Ghost Avatar Prop
-Goes to Cizlin for Look What I Got! .

The Flood gametype is fun and has been known for it’s hilarity in many ways, from ‘Happy Flood’ to the sounds the Flood make to just the fun gameplay. Custom Maps seem to produce some ‘unique results’ in this gametypes from lag. Cizlin’s photo is a great example, as from killing a Spartan-IV through a wall via lag, his flood was able to pick up the frag grenade from the fallen Spartan and use it. This photo is also extremely funny as well. Great catch  .

Fourth Place-UNSC Shirt prop (Codes for both male and Female)
-Goes to Z6NITRO for Rocket Race-Glitch?

JIP games can produce some interesting results sometimes, as Z6NITRO’s photo shows. Honestly, I think a Gravity Hammer would be fun to use in this gametype. Nice catch.

I will be PMing the codes out after this post. Thank you to all who participated in both themes, and awesome photos  .

@Lizking10152011 - THANK YOU! :slight_smile:

I wished I had some kind of acceptance speech prepared…

Great screenshots ALL Everyone!

I Really enjoy the opportunity to see everyone’s screenshots in the forum.
It keeps me motivated and inspired to see the imagination and creativity that everyone is putting in their screenshots.

Thanks again Lizking!

Thank you Lizking,

I got your hint about the blackwhite theme for the Haven shot, but it was used for the “sticky detonator” theme earlier, so I’m not sure if it qualifies.

But thank you immensely! And congrats to everyone else.
