Share Your Screenshots, Tips, and Tricks

> I actually like the finger stuff. Dirty jokes aside, I feel it defines the shot. But personally, I like to keep away from Next Gen (unless necessary) as it usually makes things hazy.

You know, I’ve been taking screenshots in every game since Halo 3 and I didn’t start using the effects until literally 3 weeks ago. I just thought it was too much effort for what it was worth … now that’s the height of laziness right there, isn’t it?

Good evening everybody.

A bit later than I wanted to be posting this, but better late than never. To start, congratulations to all who had their ‘fire’ themed photos featured in the latest bulletin. The next theme is ‘Haven’ which I can see a lot of potential pictures coming from.

I do happen to have some screenshots, as well as some discoveries about the Kicking Mantis V. 1.1 map I shared that I previously did not know about, but first, let me take a look through the most recent batch of screenshots that I missed out upon.

Tayderp, quite the interesting photo you have taken that you call ‘Deserted’. I like the combination of armor as well as FX you utilized. It combines well with the background of Pitfall. Well done with your photo.

Z6NITRO, I must say that your photos ‘Gatekeeper’ and 'Key Master blew me away. You really managed to utilize some vivid warm colors in these photos that work especially well with the color you chose for the armors used in the photos. Amazing work and well done with your photo.

s452, amazing work yet again with your Forge Art. The thing I really like is how you also implemented FX, Lighting, and angles the way you did. I watched you build part of this forge art, but I honestly had no idea how amazing it was going to come out, but you did an excellent job. Well done with your new photo.

topsniper707, I am glad to see you back, and I also like the photos you happened to capture as well. ‘Red Alert’ seems to have alot going on. I tfeel sas if your Spartan-IV is driving through a battlefield in a bad scenario, going 125 mph, lol. ‘Once More onto the Breach’ is a nice photo as well, as it has a ‘Fallout’ feel to it. ‘Shadow of a Doubt’ seems bright, but awesomely vivid. Well done with your photos.

MrMartini85, before I get to your photos, I see you happened to have a question. There is an occasional bug with Halo Waypoint that nobody has yet to solve. It’s random, and it will occasionally ‘redact’ download numbers. In worse cases, it also ‘redacts’ likes/recommends as well. It is annoying, it’s happened to me as well with several of my pictures. If you know who liked/recommended your photo, just ask them to do it again.

Now regarding your photos, you are managing to create better screenshots fromw hat I can see, as I am seeing you start to utilize the FXs from the gadget menu more. Your 'fire themed photos were very nice, and I like your Next Gen/Colorblind Master Chief photos as well. Nice combination of elements, FX, and angles, well done with your new photos as well.

Well recently RJCCJ, S452, StrikingFate, Cizlin and I did some thorough testing of Kicking Mantis V 1.1 and we had alot of fun in the process. Z6NITRO and Gothic Lucy even managed to get in on the fun. I will show you the fun you can have using this map:

I do have more to share, but I will have to make another post to do so.

When testing Kicking Mantis V 1.1, S452 and POD Dust Storm discovered an interesting glitch, one that can lead to a lot of laughs, but also some really cool FX. On this map, if you try to circle into the man cannons with a Banshee when the Mantis is not present and keep circling with the joysticks, you can temporarily glitch outside of the man cannons floating, but ‘seizuring’ out and spinning.

S452 and Cizlin tested this glitch further and found out that other players partied to you online from other systems can see you doing this, but you can’t see yourself doing so and the same for other local profiles on the same system as yours, so if you want to do this glitch, make sure to have your friend send you a copy of the footage from his or her 360. This can be done with the Scorpion Tank, Ghost, Wraith, and Banshee, but it is cool FX wise to do with the banshee with the blue streams that come off the wings. I can’t explain, just let me post the end results, Banshee Glitch FX VI-VII are amazing.

Vehicle Breaking IV
Banshee Glitch FX I
Banshee Glitch FX II
Banshee Glitch FX III
Banshee Glitch FX IV
Banshee Glitch FX V

So, with that type of glitch FX, I am really curious to see what type of screenshots people take with the provided map, especially if they add in lights, and/or gadget FX. Thank you Cizlin, S452, StrikingFate, RJCCJ, RECEPTOR 17, POD Dust Storm, Gothic Lucy, and Z6NITRO for helping out test the map, and I hope you had a lot fo good laughs as well.

Also from recent gameplay, I have two other photos to share as well, enjoy  :

Cizlin-Forerunner Tech

That is all I have to share for now, and I hope my recent contributions give everybody here new FX to work with as well as new ideas. Have a great night everybody and keep the awesome screenshots coming  .

Good evening everybody yet again.

I had forgotten to take a photo of something I previously missed and I have it now. When I was in Forge mode showing POD Dust Storm several days ago the outer part of Pitfall and the screenshot opportunities you can find from it, we came across something along the from of the building, which looks like a tipped over container, but the one side you can go through, and it looked really metallic.

Tonight, I played around with a Gravity Hammer inside of it and some FX, and I ended up with this nice photo:

Metal Sphere

For this photo, I used the Next Gen, Colorblind, and Nova FXs, and with the combination of a gravity hammer swing to distort it, I looks metallic in nature as well as spherical.

That is all I have for now, so once again, have a great night and keep the awesome photos coming  .

> Hello guys! Here’s my first attempt at the Haven theme.
> Shadow of a Doubt
> Its not my finest shot but I felt I needed to get my foot in the ground this week. There’s definitely more aspects I can include on the poses of the Spartans. Maybe I’ll try again after a little bit of criticism. (Hint hint)

Ooh. I’m loving the contrast between the red and the blue. It gives the Spartans some extra character. As for the composition of the shot… The brightness is kind of distracting, but otherwise it’s actually pretty nice. I don’t actually have much of a problem with the framing but I’m sure it could use a tiny bit of work. Nothing to fret about, though.

I really like your concept. The fact that there are two Spartans. One who appears to be “good” and one who appears to be “bad.” I don’t know if that’s exactly what you were going for but if so- you did a very nice job. Also I think the title is interesting considering the brightness of the shot. The irony plays into your theme in a very cool way. I think if I was to nail down why that’s so compelling would be because it leaves the figure shadowed but everything surrounding it is bursting in light so it just ‘sets the stage’ so to speak.

I think in terms of re-doing the shot, you said you could include some different poses. And while I don’t think it’s necessary… I think it’d be really cool to see what else you can cook up with some different poses. I love the idea of the shadowy figure. So maybe you could give him some sort of creepy pose as if he’s haunting the other figure. I don’t know. It’s all up to you. Well, I must say. This screenshot turned out very well! Looking forward to seeing what else you make!

This is sweet! It seriously does look metallic and spherical (I’m just thinking of the Drake and Josh reference: “It’s spherical! Spherical!”). Haha. But this really is awesome. You know… This might just be me but I think it’d be really cool if you posed in front of that. Now of course I don’t know the nature of that mysterious sphere and so I don’t know if that’d be possible… But if it is I think you could probably make some really cool screenshots of it.

ps- I’m thoroughly impressed that you were able to use the Nova filter. That deserves some respect. Haha.

Well, I am really happy to hear that you like this photo stealth4ce. I couldn’t have found out about this accidentally without POD Dust Storm, as RECEPTOR 17 and I were showing him different ways you can get screenshots on maps, but at the given time after the first time RECEPTOR 17 left to play some Grifball. I was showing POD how on some maps, you can use teleporters to access a couple of neat areas for neat screenshots, but also in mind that there are hard death barriers out there. The gravity hammer FX brings the spherical shape out more.

The nature of the sphere is that it is the base of a sideways cylinder shaped part of the building on Pitfall. All you have to do on Pitfall is put a teleporter outside of the building to get to the desert part. Once out there, just turn around and look at the building. On the left side, you should notice two cylinder-like structures on the building about twice the size of a Spartan-IV, one upright, and one on it’s side. Go to the one on it’s side, but do not go too close to the building wall (Or, you will be sucked in and have to respawn via suicide). You cannot enter the upright one, but, if you look at the base of the sideways one, you will see this lustry metallic base that you can walk through.

With that said, you can pose in front of it, or even partially through it. Since you now have the knowledge to find this and play around with it to your liking stealth4ce, you can pose in front of it or even use different gadget FX and lighting to see what you get.

As for the nova filter, I have been experimenting with a bit more lately, and much to my surprise, It can have it’s uses  , so thank you for the feedback, and I hope I helped you out with the information I gave you.

Thanks for the feedback guys. I’m going to stick with the idea of opposite Spartans. As for the brightness, I’m definitely going to tone it down a bit. I need to capture more of the map Haven in the shot instead of merely using it. The poses are going to be changed to give more of an “overshadowed” feeling. Oh my I may have found my title. (Or not) xD Anyways, I have it all visualized and will try to capture this when I get back home tomorrow. I do not aim to disappoint.

Lizking - Thank you for the kind words and the opportunity to join in on the fun.

I enjoyed your screenshots, especially the banshee glitches, and I really think “Metal Sphere” is a great novel screenshot! I visualize it in earth tones, sedimentary rock like on Outcast, similar to Red Rock Canyon outside of Las Vegas Nevada - US. anyway….

I did take a couple of screenshots from the session, they are in my resents. I broke out underneath all the commotion. I think that is you in the banshee. When I zoomed in, it was green armor.

Mecha, I am really liking Colour and Teal. These tickle my fancy. Take my likes. Now.

Alright I’ve just finished reattempting Shadow of a Doubt. I got this batch of goodness called Honor - Guile.
Give that a nice opinion or so if you will as that’s my last attempt at Haven this week.

WOW! Really enjoyed this one, Great screenshot

Just got back home from work and decided to post my two new Haven screenshots.

| VIRTUE
I wanted to keep this one simple. Just a Spartan, a lowered weapon (one with no ammo at that), and some soft colors/textures to make it seem more peaceful. I wanted to capture something ‘virtuous’ and I felt like this was the way to do it. Simple but pretty at the same time. At least the way I see.
The effect, though, is still a bit more complex despite its plain appearance. But… It worked out, I think.

| VICE
This one is supposed to contrast the peacefulness of the other one but honestly I don’t think I did a good job of that. It doesn’t really look that menacing. I kind of got desperate when I decided that I need Vice to go along with Virtue and so I whipped this up pretty fast. It’s just… It’s not appealing.

Hope you all have a great week!

@stealth4ce

You did a great job on both of these but Virtue! Oh my goodness I just got hit with some insperation after seeing that shot! You must share with me your secrets haha :stuck_out_tongue: Well done!

Stealth4ce, to be honost, I actually really like Vice. It just feels real easy to look at. However for Virtue, I love everything in the shot besides one detail. The spartan’s crotch is highlighted. Buzzkilled that screen for me xD.

Congratulations to everyone who made it to the spotlight!

Check out my file share boys. XxLEGENDxWOLFxX

Haha glad to hear that! I’m curious to see what you make.
And in time, I will. Probably towards the beginning of summer or around then.
