I think it is a very nice photo and that it utilizes the Regeneration Field/Autosentry rather well as it looks as if your Spartan has an angry look to it. I feel that you had some nice ideas for the ‘Fire’ themed contest, I would recommend being a bit more optimistic about your photos, as you have some great ideas and know how to implement them well.

Yeah man like lizking said, don’t worry about how the computer changes the shot. A lot of times, in addition to adding unwanted space to your screenshots, the computer monitor will desaturation and brighten the picture. It’s unavoidable, and so in that regard I think we can all sympathize with you.
And yeah man the fact that you have that kind of desire to grow is what really sets you apart and allows you to become even better. I’m impressed with your will to learn how to do new things and so I hope that over time we can all help you out.
@Lizking! Interesting game this evening! It will be interesting to see what screenshots “all ya’ll” come up with. I am still not sure what was going on.
My favorites of your last post were “Explanations” because it was amusing to me and “To the Light”. Both screenshots to me were light hearted and fun.
@Tayderp - I really like “Deserted”. It definitely has feeling.
I spent some time with MaverickT532 on Sunday. We experimented with trying to catch things on fire. Maverick caught the mongoose on fire and it initiated several ideas. Some I hope we have the opportunity to work on again when the time zones and free time match up.
Using the time with Maverick as a foundation, these are the 2 screen shots taken this week for the “Fire” theme.
If nothing else, I hope you like the titles
This was me trying out the rocks to see if they would make for good skin and muscle texture, the used of FXs, and camera angles. That and I was talking to bs angel about if Waypoint might be doing a Godzilla theme screenshot spotlight for the new movie and the 60th anniversary in May. She said that she is interested of doing one. So this also me trying to do something new with forge art that is also related to the king of the monsters.
I would like to hear some feedback on this one since this is my second time doing forge art and is the first time of me using the natural items and FXs. That will be very helpful with me hammering down my forging skills in the future.

Ooh, Gatekeeper is very appealing. It has a spiteful heat to it that really fits the shot. I love the combination of the pose, colors, and use of fire. Good stuff. Seriously.
Key Master I liked as well but I think that Gatekeeper takes the cake on this one. Very, very cool.
Hello screenshoters! I haven’t been making screens for the past 2 weeks for reasons personal. Well obviously, I’m back and full of fresh ideas. Lets start this off with 2 screens that I took for fun. Once more unto the breach Oblivion
Criticism is always appreciated as we all like to improve. I threw my hat into the red theme while I was at it.

Trust me stealth there are times I regret not been more in touch with this community during the halo reach and halo 4 days. I really feel like i’ve missed a lot, and with halo one the xbox one on the way. I may or may not feel left out. Thats one of the reasons I’m doing what I’m doing now. I want to get better before the halo 4 portion of the community moves over to the next halo…

You’re welcome, man. You got some pretty nice screenshots there. I like them.

Mmmm. I must say that I am really liking these shots. Like… Really.
Once More Unto the Breach: Whew. That’s a heavy title. I love it! It’s deep. And the way that you have the Spartan as the narrator makes it all that more powerful. The shot itself has a pretty simple feel to it, but at the same time I love the complexity of the debris and the pose actually fits in very well. Very cool.
Oblivion: Another great one. I’m loving the creativity that’s flowing through you. Can you share some? Haha. But seriously, though, it’s not often that you see upside down Spartans and when you do it’s generally just a picture of somebody getting blown up in matchmaking. This, though, beats all of that. It really looks like he’s falling into a state of oblivion. Neat.
Red Alert: I feel like a lot of people are going to try and copy off of this one for some reason. Like… It just has that awesome feel to it. To be honest I’m feeling kind of jealous that I haven’t done anything like that before. This is super cool! It makes me think of some sort of action/spy movie where they have the slick getaway. You did a great job of capturing the frenzy of the moment and the confidence of the driver at the same time.

Ah, I gotcha. Well, let me just say that I used to be in that same boat. I joined the screenshot community late, late, late into Halo 3 and so I missed out on meeting a lot of the old artists and learning a lot of really cool effects. However, when I joined they greeted me with open arms and taught me ways to make better screenshots. They inspired me to do the same.
Though I have always regretted not joining sooner, I am now starting to realize that maybe that’s just the way it was meant to be. Because while almost all of the veteran screenshot artists have left, I am still here to “pay it forward” in a sense. I just hope that I can help new artists in the way that they helped me. I know that all sounds really cheesy… But for real. Their willingness to mentor me has inspired me to teach others and I think that as you learn more you will start to become a teacher as well.
So, while you may regret it now… And while I’ll admit that there were incredible times that you missed out on during Reach… Just know that your timing is actually perfect. And that your desire to learn and pick up these skills will benefit not just yourself, but others. Maybe not now… But at some point down the road. I’m really glad you joined. You’re just the type of person I’ve been hoping would come along.

I hope one day I can bring in a style and method that will have people asking how I did it. So far all I know is to use the FX filters, Lights and even grenades to get the effect I need. One thing that bugs me is that halo 4’s forge lacks the orange and purple effects. If those were in it then my shots I feel would look much better.
But thank you all the same for your kind words stealth. Hopefully I can catch you on live one day and we can help each other in screenshotting.

Honestly it seems like there aren’t many people who care to know “how you did it” these days. Stealth is just quite excited that you do find interest, because the number of people interested has dropped dramatically.
Would any of you have any idea why a screenshot’s download and like count would significantly decrease? I posted a thread asking about it and haven’t heard anything yet, and I share here with you guys often, so I figured you’d be the ones to ask.
I have a screenshot, it’s not even that great to be honest, and have watched it over the past week explode to just over 500 downloads and 14 likes. I was a bit baffled, but flattered nonetheless. Yesterday it climbed so much I kept checking it every half hour or so and it would have several more downloads.
Well, this morning I checked and it’s around 262 downloads and 9 likes, which is still pretty good, but what happened? It was the third shot in the public browser and now it’s nowhere to be seen there.

Yeah I’ve had several shots decrease drastically in both downloads and likes and I can’t figure out why. I hope you can find some answers. It’s like… You get your hopes up and then you get disappointed because the floor drops out from under you.
ps- Nice screenshots. I’m seeing some great improvements.

I keep liking you more and more Mecha. The orange and purple filters are awesome! Especially mixed with Juicy and Next Gen. And you can use the purple and orange FX on Tempest which… You should ask Tayderp about the Tempest map. Haha. He’s kind of got a thing with that map. Basically a romance.
Anyway yeah Tayderp summed up my thoughts very accurately. It’s hard to find people who have a desire to grow in their knowledge and execution of screenshots, so that’s why people like you really stand out to me/us.
And yeah if you see me on Halo just send me a party invite. If I’m not on Halo… It’s probably not me. I share an account with my family so sometimes I brother gets on. Looking forward to playing with you!
I just checked the latest halo bulletin, congrats to those who had their fire themed screenshot featured! Very lovely shots! The next theme up is Haven! so get to it guys and gals ( Don’t forget to tag your shots with “Haven” and “Halo waypoint”
On a side note about the haven theme all I have to say is this “Perfect” I have quite a few idea’s which I am very eager to share with you guys for feedback and such!
Hello guys! Here’s my first attempt at the Haven theme. Shadow of a Doubt
Its not my finest shot but I felt I needed to get my foot in the ground this week. There’s definitely more aspects I can include on the poses of the Spartans. Maybe I’ll try again after a little bit of criticism. (Hint hint)
On a lighter note, I like MrMartini85’s screenshot “Sup, Bro?” I felt it could of had a better title or vibrant description but picture-wise I like what I’m seeing. I’ve seen this guy progress a lot here. Well done.

The colors and lighting are sweet … I genuinely like the shot, so I don’t have much constructive to say.
I’ve never been good with coming up with descriptions or titles, I usually just go with the either the first thing that comes to mind or something I feel will get people’s attention. I have the same problem with naming songs, I write and record music and I have so many “Untitled” tracks it’s ridiculous. I believe the “Sup, Bro?” (which is something I would NEVER say aside from being sarcastic) is actually titled “Haven 4”, so yeah.
But anyway, I really like that picture. Although, upon further examination, is does seem to be a bit busy in the center what with all the fingers and shoulder pads and clashing diagonals, but it doesn’t really take away from the atmosphere, contrast, or lighting. I kind of like it that way … it requires you to look closely.
I actually like the finger stuff. Dirty jokes aside, I feel it defines the shot. But personally, I like to keep away from Next Gen (unless necessary) as it usually makes things hazy.
