I feel like I’m and out of here very inconsistently, but… Now that Spring Break is finally here I think I can actually spend more time giving some constructive criticism for you all.
Anyway I didn’t just come here to say that. I experimented with a new effect I found that is very similar to the Halo 3 flare effect where it looks posterized like this (though maybe not quite to that degree), and the effect that people are calling the “forerunner face fx.” Then I showed my best friend what I found.
For the “Flare Effect,” every movement of the camera gives a completely different result which is why it’s tempting to capture every single second of it. Anyway, I let him do the photographing last night because I didn’t think that much was going to come of that game, honestly. But after seeing what he made… I decided to post his shots here (because I don’t think he would do it himself). He got several awesome shots so here are my three favorites:
>>Winter Waters<<
Ok so starting out with the “forerunner face fx,” this is what he got. What stuck out to me is just that it does give off a cold vibe and so the “Winter Waters” title fits. The soft wisps in the background give it a really soothing but chilly feel. I don’t know if that’s a good way to explain how I felt about it… But oh well. Haha.
>>Deap-Sea Discovery<<
I think my friend did a really good job of capturing the essence of curiosity and exploration in this picture. It looks like he’s at the bottom of the ocean (hinted at by the “waves” on the right, and the use of the plasma pistol as some sort of lantern was very interesting.
>>Waning Daylight<<
Here is one of his shots that showcases the “Flare Effect.” Since we were just experimenting we didn’t know it was going to have these results so I wasn’t really prepared. Hehe. I didn’t pose.
But other than the obnoxious railgun on my back and random plasma pistol and boring stance… I think the effect is cool. It gives off that sunset feel so in that regard it’s pretty cool.
If you want to see the other ones that he got, you can check out his fileshare here.
