Share Your Screenshots, Tips, and Tricks

Another screenshot I’d like to share!

Survivor

I attempted a simple colours using the light effects in forge mode.

Think it came okay but what do you guys think?

Promise next time I’ll post a bunch in a bundle.

Good evening once again everybody.

I know my vacation is over, but I have some more screenshots to share believe it or not, and also for the wonderful community a couple of additional gifts  . Before I start, I see some new photos have been posted as well as some feedback. Also, congratulations to everybody who had their FOTUS themed photos featured in the newest bulletin. This week’s theme is ‘Skyline’.

I appreciate the positive feedback MrMartini85 on my last batch of photos, and I am glad you enjoyed ‘Quite the Headache’. This photo reminded me of my Spartan almost literally making a FOTUS helm from the giant knife. Even though as a pun that I wanted to tag the photo FOTUS, I refrained from doing so, lol. I also enjoyed your humorous photo, as it is a Space Balls reference. Dunno how you caught that in theater, but you did, lol. As for the autosentry, I never noticed that before, which is odd considering the fact that I like to use it. Nice FX, wonder if it would go well with the blue electricity from vertigo.

Welcome back Mecha Sh0ckwave, glad to see a returning photographer. I like your selection of armor in ‘Run’ combined with the FX you utilized. In that photo, your spartan looks rather bug-like in the jungle, which is neat to me. Also, nice utilization of lights and FX in ‘Survivor’. You have a bit of each color int he photo and it all goes well together. Well done on your new screenshots.

Now, for what all I am going to post, you can say I have been busy  . I will start off with the photos, as I have been messing around with bioluminscent FX more, but not in a greenscale anymore. I started experimenting with FX and lighting on Shatter and I have figured out how to create blue and redscale bioluminscent FXs. For blue, you use blue lights as well as the Nova and Juicy FXs. For red, you use red lights as well as the Nova, Next Gen, and Juicy FXs. Also keep in mind that lighter colored armor of the same color as the light in combination with the FX brings out the color. Also, if all else fails, you can always use Grey and Steel for armor colors.

Rhodamine
Diphenylanthracene

I left little easter eggs in these photos as well. You may have to think it over to figure it out, but they are Halo based, so it shouldn’t be that hard. Also, while messing around with such FX on Shatter, apparently when the Juicy and Nova FXs are active, the Ghost tends to respond well FX wise to blue light as well as yellow.

Ghost Skin II
Ghost Skin III

I also have created some more forge art I would like to share. Now, if you remember music from the 1990s, you should remember Beastie Boys creating a song called ‘Intergalactic’. If you watched the music video, you should remember the robot. If not, let this forge art be a reminder.

Intergalactic

I also wanted to go out of my way and give to the fellow photographers here a couple of maps that can hopefully generate new photos as well as ideas for new photos and even provide some fun as well. The first map is called ‘Intergalactic’, as that is the may with the robot from the music video. On this map is a rectangular grifball arena that is compatible with grifball, smashing punkins, and any modified variant of Ricochet that works as classic Grifball. There is also a lower floor where people who exceed the party of 8 can watch the griball game, or have a slayer match while the grifball game goes on all on the same map.

Intergalactic Arena

I have also turned this map into a ‘Laser Tag’ arena as well, with two variants and three gametypes to go with it.
Lazer Tag Dark Variant
Lazer Tag Bioluminiscent Variant
Lazer Tag FFA Slayer Gametype
Lazer Tag Team Slayer Gametype
Lazer Tag FFA Regicide Gametype

The laser tag game variants are all one-shot kills and the weapons are lightrifles and beam rifles with bottomless clips. I hope that people utilize these maps and create some awesome screenshots from them. They are my gift to the digital photographer community here for being so kind and helpful. I really hope that these help out. I also hope that everybody enjoys the new photos I have shared and how to create them.

That is all I have for now, have a great night everybody, and keep the awesome screenshots coming.

Wow, so many new screenshots and resent contributors! Welcome and/or welcome back :relaxed:

Congratulations to all those included in this weeks “FOTUS” bulletin.

@Gothic Lucy & Lizking – I really liked “Divinity”, excellent use of light and lines.

@MrMartini85 – “That’s gonna leave a mark” made me smile. My favorite Reach was “Heavy Weaponry”, I liked the shading with the different hues of Blue and I really like your Linda 058 screenshots.

@Tayderp – I really like the background in “Burnt Down” and truly a very unique effect on the armor.

@Lizking – so many screenshots! Looks like you had a fun vacation. My favorites from your latest post are “Diphenylanthracene” (very descriptive title :relaxed:) and I really like the effect on the ghost in “Ghost skin2”. I look forward to playing and taking screenshots on your maps, thank you for sharing!

@DHG Siul S249 – I thought of your screenshot “Outbreak” when I saw that Skyline would be the theme next week. Great screenshot!

@Mecha Shockwave – I am a fan of simple, my favorite was the B&W “Run”.

Interesting, several of the screenshots I took last week for Fotus were on Skyline. These are my 2 newest for Skyline:

Thank you!

It’s great to be back and thank you for your feedback. It really helps me create more!

Also its nice to know where I can finally post images for screenshot events. I’m definatly gonna create some skyline themed images!

> Good evening fellow photographers and forge artists.
> stealth4ce, I also like your FOTUS screenshot ‘|Shadelight’. Nice utilization of the colorblind FX and dominion monitor to create a photo that has the feel of this Spartan-IV on a mission possibly within a Covenant cruiser of sort. I am also still amazed with your photos that utilize a luminiscent effect, and I can honestly say you are not modding, that your methods are legit. For the visor fx, I am still stumped, and I respect at this point that this is an FX you don’t want to share how to do. Great job with your screenshots.

I know I’m late at replying to this but good evening to you as well. Thanks for your feedback!
And yep. Colorblind and juicy is pretty good for detail, and I’ll give you a hint. It wasn’t a dominion monitor. Haha. I just loaded up a map and saw that sitting there. Figured it’d be an interesting background.
As for the “luminescent effect,” well, I’ll be keeping the exact instructions to myself for now (although there is a broad amount of ways it could be executed), but you guys seem like you’re getting closer.

Looking forward to seeing what more you produce with your effects.

Hey guys! Mecha here! and I have two screenshots which I would like to share for the skyline theme! I hope you like what I’ve done here!

Welcome Home John

I did this based off what became of chief after the events of halo 4. Granted the map skyline wasn’t the best choice but it seems the most earth like and I thought it was pretty effective with just the simple B&W filter. No more. No less.

Storm

I wanted to do something similar to a screenshot I once took in the tsavo highway level of halo 3. For this I used the B&W and Juicy effect and I like the outcome. especially with the two forerunner buildings in the distance ( not sure if it qualifies as a skyline )

Enjoy and feedback is always appreciated!

Feedback headed your way, man!

Alright so with Welcome Home John, I like the concept. It does seem to convey the foreignness of his own home because of how long he’s been away. It’s interesting. And like you said about it being earth-like, that is very true. It definitely seems like the map actually has a population rather than most other maps that are just random landforms in the middle of nowhere. Good use of the map!

As for Storm… I’m also enjoying the colorblind/juicy mix. It’s quite nice. The background itself looks very beautiful, though I feel it is a bit overdone by other photographers. Good news- it is a skyline. Unfortunate news- the submission has to be on the map Skyline (so your first one is a valid entry) which means that Vertigo, sadly, is a no-go. However, this is still a great shot to add to your collection and keep you building your skills.
If I may, I’d like to recommend something just for future reference. Of course you don’t have to follow it because there are no absolutes when it comes to photography, but here it is: Framing. Framing can be tricky sometimes, but it definitely comes easier as you go along. I’m a big advocator for the “rule-of-thirds,” and I think it would only benefit you to check it out.

Looking forward to seeing more from you!

Hey guys. Does anyone wanna help me with a Skyline screenshot? That would be awesome if anyone can.

Many thanks for the feedback stealth! Glad you like my welcome home john image! fun fact about it. I was attempting to get a shot with a hornet flying around the map but its spotlight pretty much drowned out the background.

As for storm I wasn’t sure if the skyline theme meant the map itself or skylines in general regardless of map but I’m glad I found that out now before I went to go take more skyline shots!

Also I find doing rule of thirds to be a bit tricky when it comes to in game screenshots since I lack a grid to do so but I will try and use the method more!

Thank you again for your feedback

Maverick, what kind of timeline are you looking at?

I live on the east coast USA. I can be available Sunday evening my time.

I live in Croatia, which is in the CET timezone. That is about 7 or 8+ hours in the east coast. I’m also available Sunday evening in my time, which is in afternoon in your time.

Thanks to everyone for the positive feedback!

Here’s my submission for the “Skyline” theme:

Hornet Inbound

And a couple of new ones, messing around with the Hardlight Shield and “Juicy” effect:

TRON

Scattershot

Well so far in my experimentation with Skyline I have only come up with one new shot that I’m content with, so here it is:
| WHISPERS
^I was toying around with the blue tarp on the map. Set down a red light on the left, and blue and white combo on the right, and a purple up at the top. I put them far away so they don’t overpower the shot, and I think it turned out alright. On the Xbox you can’t really see the wisps quite as well, but I think that’s alright.

I might make another one but we’ll see. For now I’m just curious to see how everybody else’s turn out.

I dont suppose anyone is willing to share a simple step by step guide on how to make these effects? I only know the basics of applying lights and special FX’s and a combination of the two.

Any and all support would be great as I really want to get better at this but feel very limited.

GL
Hello everyone!Great screenies I have seen from the photographers.
I was expecting a skyline spotlight soon, but this was sooner than expected.
I made two new screenshots to the spotlight on the map skyline(Obviously)
with the Fx:Colourblind & Juicy.Tell me what you think

A few screenshots I did with Z6Nitro but sadly I did not think it suited the spotlight as much as these did for me and the vast majority I asked.
Here you go!
Mirror Me

Nightwish

Mecha, I am a keep it simple kinda guy, but sit back in awe at the artwork created here.
I use ColorBlind and Juicy and am comfortable with simple, but many of the contributor’s to this forum delve in “magic”.

Lizking just recently listed a set of instructions a few post up along with maps that I have been playing on. I realize we are up to 53 pages, but there are some great pointers throughout this thread and I felt they helped me begin to play with the FX.

There are several contributors that are very good with constructive feedback. This is a great group and I am comfortable posting any of my screenshots to the forum, even the ones that end up with only me liking.

I realize this is not exactly what you have requested but hope to see many more of your screenshots in the future.

Lucy - My favorite of the two is “Mirror Me”, the mirror effect and buildings show up best for me when viewed on a full screen. I look forward to an opportunity to play on a future project.

Good luck to those participating in this weeks Skyline theme and to All, have a great week!

Good evening everybody.

I am glad to see new screenshots from everybody, it seems people are really trying to get the most out of Skyline photo wise. I do happen to have another batch of photos to share as well as some feedback to the responses I have recieved, so yes, to those who recently spam-tagged one of my recent photos with ‘Stop Making Screenshots’, there will be more  , but first, let me take a look at the new photos others have posted.

Z6NITRO, I like your ‘Skyline’ themed photos. Not just do they tell a story involving the Master Chief, they also tend to hint at ideas for photos should one play around in the forge, such as it appears you and Gothic Lucy did for one of her two new photos. Simple, yet great idea. Also, thank you for helping out Gothic Lucy. If I had off of work today, I would have done so, but I had to work. It’s nice to see the screenshot community helping one another. Also, great job with your new photos.

MrMartini85, I also do like your ‘Skyline’ themed photo. I get the photo based upon the title and what you utilized in the photo. From what I can tell, the Spartan-IV fired a ‘flare’ from the Magnum FLR to call for the hornet, which responded and is shining light onto the Spartan-IV. That is a well-thoughtout idea. ‘hazop3’ aka ‘Scattershot’ is rather nice as well. You used a nice combination of angles and the Juicy FX for the screenshot. Well done with your new screenshots.

Mecha Sh0ckwave, you also have a well thought out ‘Skyline’ themed photo. ‘Welcome Home John’ is very nice. from the lighting and angles, the photo feels as if he has arrived home, and is leaning over railing a bit to look around. Well done with your new photos as they are nice as well.

stealth4ce, I really like your ‘Skyline’ themed photo as well called ‘|WHISPERS’. You managed to create a unique background using the cover on the building. Do I see a Forerunner face on the red side of the visor? That is really unique. I can see why you call this photo what you have called it, that face gives this photo a bit of a cryptic feel as well. Nicely done with your screenshot.

Gothic Lucy, well done with your ‘Skyline’ themed photos as well. Out of the two, I do like ‘Mirror Me’ more. Such an amazing utilization of FX as well as the city under the map, almost as if there is a reflection on water as well of the city. I also seen your flavor text/description to the photo, so if you don’t mind me asking, what is it that you see in the photo? Nightwish is also nice. From that photo, I am assuming that the moonlight is the source of the luminiscent effect on the Spartan-IV’s armor? Also, it looks like a comet storm in the background due to the FX you utilized. Well done with your new photos.

Now for replys to the feedback.

> I know I’m late at replying to this but good evening to you as well. Thanks for your feedback!

That wasn’t a dominion monitor you utilized? Wow, that’s pretty cool then. I gues there is more than one way to create the FX in your FOTUS themed photo ‘|SHADELIGHT’ . I did figure out how you created your photo ‘|FRAGILE BEAUTY’ accidentally, though out of respect for it being your pose and FX, I won’t say how to create it. I can honestly say I am stumped on the visor FX, leaves me scratching my head, lol.

> New ideas and possibilities! Thank you Lizking

You’re welcome, glad to see you trying to make something of such FX. I can’t wait to see the finished result. I am going to have to make a second post to post the photos.

Now, I have a handful of photos to share from a night of ‘Capture the Flag’ with S452, RJCCJ, and StrikingFate, I have some new photos to share. Some are nice photos, some are for laughs, and some are only meant to be understood by us four. Also some of the titles were things said by people that given night as well. So taking a page from my UK friend from youtube Photonicinduction, I’m still here, and so are the photos. Shall we have some more?

Free Willy
Locked Brakes
“Watch out Lizking!”
“Nice”
Shield Glitch
A Gift For You
S452-Flag Champion
We Got This
Best Seat in the House
“Done and done.”
“Awesome”
Balance
Lightning Runner
Give it Back
“How Many Energy Swords Spawned?”
Plan and Go; Divide and Conquer
Thruster Crash

I hope people enjoy the new screenshots. I want to thank these three for inviting me to their party, as it was a fun night full of screenshot opportunities. S452 being a pro capturing the flag time and time again, RJCCJ, who knows how to play offensively defensive, and StrikingFate who is great at offense. Have a great night everybody as well and keep those awesome screenshots coming  .
