> @ stealth4ce: WOW! Quite simply wow dear sir! Those are some superb screenshots posted! Really love them all (especially Antique Hero’s sepia tones) with each one’s style and texture, not to mention the various backgrounds and more! Glad to see the EVA helmet getting some extra love too, you can get some crazy effects on the visor, like an angry face if you look carefully enough… Keep up the great stuff matey! I can’t wait to see more!
>
> On that note, it’s time for some sleep for me. I’ll post up tomorrow my recent works, but if you want a sneak peek, just click here!

Thanks for the feedback! I’m really surprised that people are liking some of the ones that I didn’t expect to become big hits. So thank you for contributing to that. And yes on Reach I was very anti-EVA, but when Halo 4 came around I began to change. Slowly, I’ll add, because I was hesitant at first. But now I really like that helmet. It’s just such a good tool for neat effects and/or emotion, like you were saying.
Also I saw some of your recents on the file-browser and I must say that they look quite nice. I can’t wait to see what you make of them.

> @Stealth4ce, Thank you also for your nice comments! Soft-baby bottom tan, I will look for that color next time

> Have a good evening/morning all and looking forward to viewing your latest creations!

Haha I think 343i ought to have soft-baby bottom tan in their next game. And yeah I noticed that you tend to gravitate towards those colors. And… Well… That’s actually really cool. I don’t see other people doing that. Originality is a very attractive trait and it’s one that you definitely possess.
And ok, ok. Yeah I see where you’re going with that. That’s a cool way of thinking about it then. See- it’s my own fixedness that gets in my way sometimes. But… I mean yeah I still think that you could get some more breathtaking shots against that background. You’re doing so good man. Keep it up!

Oh, and you have a good evening yourself (as should everybody else who reads this)!

@Z6NITRO: Haha, yeah I’m trying to go for some more blending in tones for a change, especially with the Nature theme. Thanks for sharing the video too from 0iah, glad to see Drab Commando got into it this time!

@stealth4ce: Thanks for the compliment! Remarkably the EVA helmet is one helmet I’ve yet to purchase form Reach. I think it was the Pharaoh-like goatee on the chin that always turned me away from buying it. :L

Alright, quite belated but just before I dash off to bed to get some sleep for work tomorrow, here are my newest Screenshots:

  • Supercell - Taken on Vetrigo with my standard Juicy and Colrblind (JCB) FX included. I basically just zoomed in on the supercell thunderstorm in the skybox and waited for the perfect lightning strike to make this Screenshot pop. As a geography graduate as well, I really love this skybox for its accuracy too, so there an extra element in it for me.

  • Drab Commando - Basically a zoomed in screenshot of my Spartan in the commando helmet, garbed in the olive drab colour. I tried to give this piece a Halo 3 feel with the colour of the armour and visor, along with the plain background (courtesy of that supercell). Hopefully oyu get that vibe from it too (including the old Halo 3 “tryhard/weapon hog/noob” combo of Shotgun and Sniper Rifle that was always so prevalent.

After making the two above, I popped over to Daybreak with my JCB FX active and made these Screenshots below:

  • Caledonian Range - Named after the mountain range on the Daybreak Map, I just tried to make sure the picture was framed well without any UNSC equipment visible so it looked perfectly natural for the “Nature” theme this week. Very happy with the sun’s light on this piece.

  • Caledonia II - Very happy indeed with this piece and the tree’s silhouette with the rest of the map’s colours and tones. Looks very wildernessy to me.

  • Caledonian Tree - Tried to get the Sun peeking up out of the foliage this time, not as good I think as the first one, but I still like its tones.

  • Commanding Silhouette - Basically a sharp upward shot with the sun behind my spartan to get the silhouetted effect, plus the amrmour’s “strip lights” being visible.

  • Deployed - I was trying to evoke a bit of a backstory to this one, perhaps about a Fireteam being deployed to a UNSC FOB to scout out Forerunner dangers after the events of Halo 4 and Sp.Ops.

After that I went and popped into the Banshee and had some fun flying around, using the red-out effect you get when you have the “Return to Battlefield” countdown making:

[/li]- Contrails - Still trying to work out how I got that dark background above the Banshee. I really love with Juicy and Colourblind in how it picks out Covenant vehicle “contrails” on the Ghost, Wraith and especially the Banshee. Kinda reminds me as if it belongs on Halo: Reach’s Nightfall level.

  • Soaring Upward - Very proud indeed of this one, I managed to get the warmer colours by reaching the 3 second mark on the countdown to death when you enter a map’s boundaries. Framing the sun in behind was the difficult part, but I think I got it down well.

+++++++++

And that’s that from me for now! Good luck to everyone who’s put in a Nature themed Screenshot for tonight’s Bulletin!

@Receptor17 - I really like “Contrails”! Going from lighter to dark really brought out the lights on the Banshee and the vapor trails are really crisp. Great Screenshot.

I spent some time down in the cave (Ascent), still haven’t got the shot I am trying for, but I am pleased with this one:

Congratulations to those with “Nature” screenshots selected in this weeks Halo Bulletin.
And Receptor17 with a cameo “Drab Commando”.

Good Luck to all participating in next weeks “Heavies” theme,

Hey Everyone!

Long time no see, huh?
Whoa! A sticky thread, that makes me smile.
I apologize for my absence, please forgive me for that.

I still have a lot of things going on IRL, but do not fret. I still have have a ton of codes to give out for Nov, Dec, and now Jan. I will make an attempt to start getting those out this weekend. It warms my heart to see all the awesome shots still rolling in. This side of the community is so creative and kind to one another, keep up that. For it doesn’t go unrecognized.

A few of you have messaged me about hate/ill tagging of screenshots, to this I will say;
Use this a motivational tool to take exceptional screenshots, though the sting of the hate tag may be sharp when first seen, the venom behind it is only jealousy, which only brings shame to the user who tagged it. Do not let those words live rent free inside your head, push those words out and be diligent in making your shots great. This thread is an excellent example of how the community should interact with one another and use it as a support structure for one another, be it in PM or a simple post. Stand together, stand strong.

It still amazes me that you guys and gals continue to come up with such fantastic screenshots, I am forever grateful to you all.

Keep up the great work, and we’ll be seeing each other again soon.

Deluca34

Here’s another new image i have made. It’s the first screenshot i created on H4 where the intention of the idea in mind was to be a wallpaper background for desktops. Lucy and I have been experimenting with monitor eye colours I.E. green and yellow, but in this one, Solitude, it is purple.

Hey Deluca, gratz on the sticky thread.

I actually like Solitude as the colours stand out well especially on the monitor.

So I put up this screen shot a little while ago and it has blown up (over 100 downloads; a lot for me) and I’m not sure why … other than it’s a bit silly. I titled it “Too Much to Drink”. Check it out.

Also, here are two from SPARTAN BOWL!

I like this screenshot, Receptor 17. In my opinion, it might be one of your best screenshots in Halo 4 so far. It’s on my File Share right now.

How do you send your Halo screenshots ?

I’m going to try posting again tonight from my backup computer, as my primary gave out last night with the power supply inside dying. Let’s try this again tonight.

Good evening everybody.

I am happy to see deluca34’s return, so welcome back  . I hope matters are getting better for you, even if it is a long process. We are all doing what we can to promote and help each other and I do have to thank Gothic Lucy, Receptor 17, S452, Steath4ce, and Z6NITRO for all convincing me to stay and continue posting photos here when a certain somebody decided to go on a spam-tagging spree on not just my photos but also apparently other people’s as well. So you are right Deluca, that this is a thread that shows how a community should interact with one another and we are all doing it rather well because we all care about one another. I’m really happy to hear of your return  .

Now from what I can see there are a lot of new awesome photos from many of this thread’s awesome photographers.

I know Gothic Lucy didn’t post her most recent screenshots, however they are really amazing. Both ‘Shellshock’ and ‘Commander Palmer’ have a hot desert day feel to them due to the lighting, angles, and elements she used in both photos, which looks amazing. Well done on those two photos. Diety has a rather cryptic feel to it with the combination of the elements, colors, and armor the Spartan-IV is using in this photo, creating such an awesome screenshot. Well done  .

Cyrodragon95 , I really like the experimentation you and Gothic Lucy have been doing lately with the eye color effect of the forge monitors, and ‘Solitude’ is a really nice photo. I actually have to agree with you that it makes a great computer wallpaper as well  . I hope you can figure out intime how to create an orange or red light effect, for a ‘rampant’ effect, or to represent 2401 Penitent Tangent. Well done with your new photo  .

Z6NITRO, I really do like your photo ‘Thunder Clouds and Emerald Shores’. The photo strongly reminds me of the Mephidross from the Magic: The Gathering’s plane of Mirrodin  . I also like ‘Ghillie Squat’, as you managed to make great use of the Verdant Visor and the Hazop FRST armor for camouflage in what looks like Mountain Laurel. ‘Double Ring’ is a rather odd, but unique photo. Dunno what to make of it, but it is cool nevertheless. Well done with your photos as well  .

Receptor 17, I am impressed with your photo ‘Drab Commando’. You managed to make great use of earth tone colors, as well as an armor combination that reminds me of Halo: Reach armor. You also managed to pulloff a sunset desert effect in the background as well, which makes a great element in the photo as well. ‘Soaring Upward’ is really nice as well, and great use of elements to modify the color of the photo to create a more original scene. I also like all of your nature themed photos as well, as each one does capture a natural scene rather well. Well done with your photos and I cannot wait to see what photos you take from our explosive testing  .

MrMartini85, I like your funny photo you managed to capture ‘Too much to drink’. I dunno if you caught this during gameplay or watching a match over in the theater, but very nice find  . The photo does give a good laugh, as it matches the title rather well.

I do happen to have some new screenshots to share with everybody as a group. Now I dunno if anybody remembers, but I did want to get a couple of screenshots with all the photographers from this thread in one photo. I have such the map completed, rather simple really, and it is on Forge Island. All non-loadout weapons will be available as well, no need to worry. Let me know what you think of having such photos taken here . Additional Photo, here . Anybody who is interested in this, let me know and once I have enough people, I will try to work out a time that is convienent for everybody to do this. Please note that the photos will use the Juicy FX for emphasis of a sunset color effect.

I also do have some new screenshots from recent gameplay as well, which I have to thank Riot Rojas, Gothic Lucy, Cyrodragon95, Receptor 17, and RJCCJ for the good times lately in Team Action Sack and Grifball.

I also do have one other screenshot, and I managed to catch this really quick while playing and took the photo in theather after the game. I didn’t know what else to name it as it reminded me of a Spartan-IV who had too many energy drinks, lol, and I hope this makes it into a future Fun Friday Caption

Too Many Energy Drinks

> How do you send your Halo screenshots ?

In order to submit photos for a contest, you will need to tag them. When you have your photo open from your file share, you should notice a bar you should be able to type into next to your photo on the middle right. Type in the appropriate tag, then hit the ‘tag’ button (For example, this week’s contest is Heavy Vehicles, so type in Heavy Vehicle, hit tag, then type in Halo Waypoint, and hit tag).

Well, that is everything I have for now, so have a great night now everybody and keep the awesome photos coming  .

@Lizking - Thank you! Please count me in for a group screenshot.
Hmm, Do I have anything to wear? which one of my armors is clean? is my light rifle back from the armory? which brown’s to choose? oh so many decision’s!
Ahem

I agree, not sure what to make of “DoubleRing”. I have not spent any time on Relay and the bright colors must have mesmerized me. I have a habit of going to theater after a game and watching for something unique, a stance or what I think might be a good spot on a map for a screenshot. I really like ordnance drop rings and these two dropped closely one after the other. When I lined them up and saw the red aurora, outer-space background, I decided to keep the image.

From your post’s screenshot’s the one’s from Husky Raid were my favorite. I like how you have your whole team in the screenshots. I tried getting a shot from that location earlier this week and was unable to get any near as nice.

I do have a screenshot without any spartan’s and looking up, (oh the bright colors…. again!)

EDIT The screenshots name is “Contrails & Caps”. My apologies to Receptor17, I just realized why “Contrails” sounded so good.

@MrMartini85 - “Too much to drink” is funny! Great catch.

@Gothic Lucy - My favorites are “Deity” and “Conjurer”. Great stances and lighting!

Have a great weekend All!

Haha the Pharoah-like goatee. :stuck_out_tongue: Alright so the shot that stuck out to me the most was Drab Commando because of its beautiful simplicity. It’s not obnoxiously complex. It’s simple. “Simplicity at its finest” as BFO Prodigy used to say (if anybody here knows who that was). It’s a very appealing shot. Honestly- it is. Obviously the background is very nice, and I think your army commander theme went over well.

Hey again! Dude… This is a sweet background. I think you could keep experimenting with this one. It has some real potential for even more awesome shots in the future. This shot, though, is really nice because of how relevant the title is to the shot itself. I mean… It’s dark. And then the pose is better than just standing there with a weapon so I applaud you for that.

Hey I think what you’ve been doing is pretty neat. Just… Tell me when you figure out how to do this with the monitor eyes. This is a good picture because you can feel the loneliness that the monitor suffers from. Great job on giving it that feel. Keep experimenting! You can definitely get a lot of cool things in the future!

> | Your Team Has the Ball
> | GOAL!!!

Haha it cracks me up that you used the “|” symbol before these titles. As for the actual composition of the shots… Well, the armor looks sweet but I feel like you could do better on finding a background. I know you said they were from Spartan bowl so it sounds like there are a lot of limitations… But… I believe in you!

> Shellshock
> Deity
> Commander Palmer
> Conjurer
> -Gothic

Shellshocked- Well, it’s actually a very pretty picture. I really like the warm tones in it. It’s surprisingly peaceful… Which is weird because it’s a giant tank which I would generally be quite afraid of. Haha. Nice job.
Deity- Now this one is sweet. The pose is obviously one of the highlights, and the backdrop is one of my favorites. I must admit, though, that I don’t quite understand why it’s called Deity… I’m assuming that the player model is the deity… But I just don’t see how it relates with the pose and all. Not that it has to, but it just seems like you’re really centering around the fact that he’s the deity through the description so I guess I just don’t see how he’s a deity. Still an incredible shot, though.
Commander Palmer- Hmmm… It’s very bright. Kind of hard to make out the features. I know the quality is generally better on the Xbox, though, so considering that I’m sure it looks quite nice. The background looks like it is pretty neat but I just can’t really make it out. I wish I could see it better so that I could give a better critique, but until I get on Xbox next I can’t.
Conjurer- Here we go! Now this is what I’m talking about. This picture is absolutely phenomenal. The pose fits the title really well this time. It legitimately looks like he’s creating the lightning. ps- reminds me of this shot. I love that spot. It’s awesome. The lighting in yours is just incredible. Well done!

I can’t wait to see more from you all!

Does anyone else get that nice feeling to see that their pictures have had a lot of downloads or likes when you check them?

Oh and its also great to see Gothic lucy posting on the boards as I’ve seen your work in game loads of times and even though a lot of people seem to hate them (down to pure jealousy) you should keep at it.(I know I’m late to say this but I’ve been absent from waypoint for a long time)

Good evening everybody once again.

I want to share something that can potentially help people here with their Heavy Vehicle Screenshots this week. thy ReaperMC recommended me share custom maps I have already created, as they can potentially be of use to matchmaking. The map I am going to share is not matchmaking material, however is good for photo ops. I slightly modified it to add in heavy vehicles. If you want to add FX, or remove the current one Juicy, feel free to do so for great screenshots. You will need forge island downloaded to use this map, but here is Highway Heavies . I am curious to see what people do with this map photowise.

As a teaser, here is a screenshot from when my friends and I were having fun on the map: Sunset on the Highway . Don’t judge the map based upon the photo, try out the map and see if you can get any worthwhile photos  .

Edit: Hmm, it seems the file glitched and has counted my mother’s LIVE account the original creator. Very odd considering I saved the original under my account when I created the initial map.

Z6NITRO, interesting photo you have taken from our Husky Raid match. I am really surprised I didn’t notice what you found. Looks like we covered the match pretty well in terms of photos  .

That is all I have for now, so you all have a great night, I hope the map I am giving you that I created helps out with screenshots, and keep the awesome screenshots coming  .

> Does anyone else get that nice feeling to see that their pictures have had a lot of downloads or likes when you check them?

I mean… It’s definitely always nice to see more downloads and likes because it generally means that people can relate better to your screenshot. But I think we can all agree that it’s more rewarding to make a personally meaningful shot. For instance, I made this screenshot to commemorate the passing of my great grandma. The file-browser wasn’t up at the time and so it got no attention, but I still feel a strong sense of pride in it because of the emotional value that it has. But- yes- it does give me a nice feeling to see that my picture gets downloads when it happens.

All this talk of releasing custom maps for screenshots… I might just have to try this map out! Sounds pretty neat. I’m also thinking about creating some of my own custom maps for people. But I don’t know that I will.
You have a great night too and I hope to see you dish out more of your content soon.

I agree on the part with the picture for a certain/special moment.

Really nice picture by the way.

Hey all! I decided to follow up my previous shots with some new ones featuring monitors (which I rarely do). Most of my inspiration came from Apollo Creed 01 when he uploaded a screenshot that had a couple monitors with dark eyes. I was also motivated partly by Gothic Lucy and Cryodragon because they’ve recently been doing screenshots that change the color of the monitors’ eyes. So I figured that this would be the best time to try and find out how Apollo made the eye of the monitor black- you know, so I could join in on the fun and all.
Well… Good news! I found it. Here are the results (although I think it goes without saying that the computer lowers the quality- so don’t expect perfection):

| SUB-HEAVENLY HOSTS
This one I think shows the effect nicely, considering the number of monitors it works on, and taking into account that the background isn’t too dark- therefore giving it contrast. The title I felt like kind of fit the picture, as it made me think of some sort of celestial beings spying on people. I don’t know. As for the composure of the shot… I don’t care for it. The framing is really weird, as many monitor shots can be. I really just kept it for the sake of showing how the effect works.

| SPARK OF LIFE
Ok so for this one I really wanted to accentuate the contrast between the dark monitor and the light one. I put the lighter monitor in front because I figured that having the light in front of the dark would symbolize progress. Also I figured I’d sneak a Guilty Spark reference in there. So, it’s the “spark” of life. Hehe. Genius. Other than that, everything is up to your own imagination.

| SENSELESSLY
The title for this one came from an internal argument I was having with myself. I was debating whether or not to name it “Senseless Wandering” or “Senseless Following.” So I finally chose to break a barrier that I never realized that I’d set up. I don’t know that I’ve ever made a screenshot with an adverb as the title. So here it is: “Senselessly.” I figured that this way it can be interpreted many different ways. They are senselessly wandering after something. The one is the back is senselessly following the one in the front. You can basically put any verb in there and it fits. Senselessly being? Yes… That would be a verb. Senselessly defenestrating? Well, yeah, that’s a verb too, I guess.

| PROJECT MIDDLEGROUND
When I saw this in theater I immediately thought of Arbiter 617’s machinima “Project Middleground”. Even right at the beginning he has a lifeless monitor that sparks. So that’s where this inspiration came from. It’s a really neat machinima, even though it’s a few years old. I would highly recommend it if you’ve got time.

| CRIES OF CHRYSOPRASE
And last but not least (it’s my second-to-least favorite) we have a shot that relies heavily on the title and effect. Chrysoprase is a green gem and so I figured that I would work that into this shot since, you know, it is kind of green-ish.

Thanks for checking out my shots! I really appreciate that. Feel free to give me constructive criticism as I’m always looking to improve. I’ll even offer up some myself: Fix the framing! There. I hope you all have a great week.

All good shots, I really, really like “Project Middleground”. For me, the gold-ish color of this monitors housing is what makes this screenshot stand out. With the dark background and great shading on the housing, it looks like you can almost touch it.

I struggled with this weeks Heavy Vehicle theme. Partially due to the amount of time I spent this week in Action Sack on Husky Raid and weapon achievements. Really enjoyed!

I tagged a couple of older screenshots for this weeks theme and captured these:
