Share Your Screenshots, Tips, and Tricks

Good evening everybody.

I am sorry to say this, but apparently somebody is slowly going through the photos I have taken and spam-tagging them with the word ‘spammer’. Until this stops and the negative tags are removed from my precollege photos with likes on them and my mini slayer glitch photos and the person who is doing it is held accountable, I will not be posting any more photos here. I am not going to fuel a negative person who finds humor in causing trouble. No new photos means no new negative tags. Simple enough.

If people want to PM me and talk to me about it to convince me otherwise, they can try. Have a great night everybody, and keep up the good work on your photos. Hopefully this won’t happen to any of you.

> There’s been tons of amazing screenshots by everyone the past few pages. I haven’t posted anything here in a long time, but here’s some of my new screenshots…
> Snuff’d
> Grifball Pro
> ~ oObeX

Seems you like you really enjoy Griffball, huh? Haha.

Well I must say that I really like Snuff’d. The background is my favorite part of it all just because it’s warm and soft at the same time. It’s very neat. Then the pose is quite nice, of course, as you mentioned he is using the blade rather than the hammerhead. The colors are consistent throughout the shot and relevant to Griffball, so… I think we have a winner.

Then Griffball Pro is also very nice. I do love myself some of that Haven backdrop. It’s so peaceful. The speed boost in the picture also gives it more of a light-weightedness to it (that’s a thing, right?) The pose is probably the highlight of the picture because it is definitely difficult to get the player models to play along with you. It takes many tries sometimes just to get one result. I think that you did a nice job with it. It really looks like he’s on the run and victory is near.

Hope to see more soon!

So I think I can appropriately correlate my recent lack of effort in school to the amount of screenshots I’ve been taking recently. My mind has been tinkering with new things to experiment with while it’s supposed to be focusing on an important lecture. But hey- at least I can say that I’m somewhat proud of these shots. That makes it somewhat worth it then, I guess.

Ok so we’ll cover these by the time they were taken.

| ANTIQUE HERO
This one is basically supposed to represent heroes that nobody really remembers anymore… Yeah.
The reason that I wanted to “show it off” is because it has that warm tint to it but it was done on the map Vortex which is known for it’s heavy purple/blue tones. So the fact that I could make it a deep yellow/orange made me at least semi-excited.

| AURORAL EXPOSURE
Now this one comes with a little more pride just because I told myself that I was going to combine this effect and this one, and frankly I feel like I succeeded. I got the soft textures, cool colors, and the interesting background to all merge into the shot. So… I’m just glad that I could actually follow through and make it happen. As for the actual composition of the shot… I don’t know… I really like the background, and the pose is simple but at the same time it’s not completely boring. It gives it a little action, if you will.

| WHAT NOBODY REMEMBERS
“We’re all too busy running around to stop and enjoy the beauty of creation.”
This is surprisingly one of my nature submissions. Naturally (see what I did there?) I don’t expect it to win, but I felt like I should explain why I tagged it with nature even though it only has one small patch of plants. My reasoning behind this was that I would draw attention to our inattention to nature by having a Spartan running past the plants. Also you can notice that the plants kind of fade into the background. But… When I saw this while I was in theater it made me think of how people are always running one errand after another with no breaks in between to just relax. So, yes, it’s an anti-nature screenshot, but one with the intention of promoting nature.

| CALAMITY
I had the wonderful opportunity of being shown an incredible effect that my buddy Spexil found recently. She was kind enough to let me in on her secret and this is what I came up with. I really like the lighting contrasts mixed with the dark red coloring. It’s… Ok looking. What I like most, though, is the visor. The EVA helmet does a tremendous job of orchestrating emotion and effects, both. I mean… Look at it! It looks like there blood splatter on the visor (ish). Then in the background I decided to include the debris. It made me think of a song by Sleeping At Last called “Earth.” The lyrics go like this: “I dig 'till my shovel tells a secret. I swear to the Earth that I will keep it. Brush off the dirt, and let my change of heart occur.” Ok… So why does that matter? Well… I thought it looked like maybe he was burying a dead body. Haha. I know that’s morbid but that’s one way of looking at it. Then the lyrics continue in the chorus: “Fault lines tremble underneath my glass house but I put them out of my mind long enough to call it courage- to live without a lifeline.” So that’s where the debris comes back into play. I thought it looked like an earthquake had recently taken place and his house had collapsed.
So any way I could go on for awhile explaining this screenshot… But I’ll just go ahead and leave it up to your own creativity to interpret the meaning.

Thank you for checking out these shots and reading my notes about them if you went so far as to do that. I hope that I can give you all feedback on your upcoming screenshots soon!

Lizking - I can assure you they are not singling you out. It appears several artist’s screenshots have been hate tagged recently. Last Fall I think Deluca34 and/or Receptor17 were able to contact someone at 343 and accomplished a purge for many of the negative tags. It stopped for awhile after that.

Not sure how loose my PM is for getting message’s, but for what it’s worth, don’t let the haters get to you.

They do not take away, nor detract from, your excellent screenshots and creativity.

For me, I try to consider the source and feel they are not worth being upset over and move on (even though there is that initial twinge of pain when I read them…)

Hoping to see many new and great screenshots from you in the future,
Z6

Haven’t been here for a bit so mite try so screenshots for the Bulletin over the weekend good luck with your shots everyone.

Ok, so I know the Nature Theme is technically next week (2 days from now) but I got a busy week coming up and took a few shots yesterday and today.
(and again, I use an outside host because 25 is just not enough room for all of my screen shots).

As usual, i love them all but i absolutely adore “What Nobody Remembers”.
I feel like you could have done a monitor shot with those plants in the corner.

@MrMartini - my favorite is the “Look-out”, Great Screenshot! I had to look twice to see it was a screenshot and not a photo from the non digital world. I also enjoyed the frolicking mantis :). Good job on all.

Stealth4ce - work and school do seem to get in the way of the more enjoyable things sometimes

My favorite from this post is “What Nobody Rememebers”. I like the background, clean focus on your Spartan and the addition of the plants is a great touch. Great title, Well done on all!

Good evening everybody. Between the PM Gothic Lucy sent me and the public message Z6NITRO wrote, I will start to post photos again. It’s difficult as it is recieving negative feedback on hands on art projects I work on by local people where I live as it is, but to have digital art spam-tagged as well adds to the trouble. A bit off topic, but to show you what I am talking about regarding hands on art, click here .

So, to get back into the swing of things, let me look here at some of the new photos. oObeX, you have some amazing grifball photos. My favorite in particular is ‘Snuff’d’. Rather red, fiery photo that uses a lot of warm colors, very nice indeed.

Stealth4ce, you have an interesting set of new photos that utilize very nice effects, especially ‘Calamity’. Well done with your photos and the utilization of such nice effects.

MrMartini85, well done with your lighting once again, and also use of angles in your photos to give them more of an original feel. Each photo seems to have a story to it based upon the way you set the photos up. Well done with your new photos as well.

I happen to have one new photo to share. This photo was created after watching some of the anime series called ‘Big O’. I decided to attempt to forge one of the characters, and it’s not the type of anime forging that other people have done. May I present to you Schwartzwald .

At some point in the future as well for those who are interested, I would like to get a game photo on a custom map I made (Still needs a couple of tweaks) with as many of the digital photographers here as possible for a momento. Anybody who is interested, let me know, and when enough people would be interested, I will start asking about times to do so.

Once again, thank you Z6 and Lucy for talking to me about the matter and hearing me out about it. It really does mean a lot to me. Everybody have a grea tnight now and keep the awesome photos coming  .

> Seems you like you really enjoy Griffball, huh? Haha.

Yes, I do. Thank you for liking my Grifball screenshots.

All of your new screenshots are awesome. The warm tint you used for Antique Hero makes the screenshot look like an actual old photograph that’s aged.

You made a magnificent backdrop for Auroral Exposure, and I like the brightened zig-zags on the deep purples. The black helmet on the player adds a lot of mystique too.

What Nobody Remembers is a brilliant screenshot, and I like the character again, but I love the light on the left side shining on the plants left behind. You also did a very good job with making the background appear to have a motion blur, which only helps to deliver your message of how people can be too busy running around to stop and enjoy the beauty of creation.

Finally, great positioning of the player with the debris in the background in Calamity. The marking of blood or dirt on the visor is awesome, and it looks like he’s holding something in his hand… but that’s up the imagination. The atmosphere is dark, red, dusty, barren… maybe this spartan is holding onto a photograph of his child or loved one, or maybe a heirloom or item belonging to his child or family, looking to find them and not knowing if they’re dead or alive… This is an excellent screenshot and it looks like the character is desperate to find meaning to his confusion and loss, searching for answers, just like the observers and viewers of this screenshot. It feels like time is moving slow for the character, and the dust is settling, the dirt is clinging on to him… he’s got to shake it off and move on, for better or worse… lest he be buried in the past, with dust and echoes.

You have a talent for making meaningful and imaginative screenshots.

WOW! Impressive, what a great collection of screenshots! Thanks for letting us know about the list and the opportunity to participate in the voting. Well done to all in the 50!

Hey man! Thanks for the feedback. I actually think that a monitor shot would look incredible with that background but unfortunately I think I can only make it work in custom games. It’s the same effect that I showed you a long time ago, like in your Solus in Vacuo shot.

Ain’t that the truth… Did I just say “ain’t?” Ew. Haha. Anyway thanks for that! I appreciate your reply.

Thank you, thank you! And that sounds like a really neat idea. I would be interested in doing this some time if I ever have the time.
Also I’m glad that you decided to take screenshots again. There were many, many, many hate taggers on Reach, so I know exactly what you’re talking about. It’s hard at first, but it gets a lot easier. Especially knowing that you’ve got these guys here to back you up. That’s what matters.

:’)
Thank you very much for taking the time to give each one of my shots a comment. That’s awesome that you would do that. And the depth of what you said about my Calamity screenshot… Wow. I didn’t think of him holding anything, necessarily. Well, I guess kind of. I was imagining him clutching at his heart because of the tragedy that just occurred… But I like your interpretation better! That’s just awesome!
Thanks again and I can’t wait to see more screenshots from you!

No problem. I’m glad you liked my interpretation of Calamity.

Good Evening/Morning All

I captured 2 new screenshots for this weeks “Nature” theme and tagged a screenshot from last week “Scouting for Sign” - Forest screenshot with sniper,

also tagged one of my 1st screenshots: “For the Birds” (Still a favorite of mine)
https://www.halowaypoint.com/en-us/games/halo4/fileshare/details/05d09f9b-445d-4b83-8a49-c5036485d9ed

and tagged one I took during the holidays last year “Gametophytes” - Halo Flowers:
https://www.halowaypoint.com/en-us/games/halo4/fileshare/details/5a32b6f0-fd8d-4651-8d62-5b5875050b37

now for my 2 newest-
Thunder Clouds & Emerald Shores: (Shatter with Juicy FX - Blue Spawn side)
https://www.halowaypoint.com/en-us/players/z6nitro/halo4/fileshare#?details=3ff80899-ba2f-435f-a046-25551e00d1ab

Ghillie Squat: (very small Island just below the Big One on Forge Island - Juicy and Color Blind FX)
https://www.halowaypoint.com/en-us/players/z6nitro/halo4/fileshare#?details=ded4026c-f5c4-4fc8-9b35-b05123c91ee8

And after viewing the Grifball sceenshots with the gravity hammer, I was inspired to give one a try while I was on Shatter. (albeit not nature)

These are very nice additions to your already impressive repertoire.
I must critique!

For the Birds:
Mmmm. Wow. I’m thoroughly surprised that this was one of your firsts. I can see why it’s one of your favorites! The pose, colors, and background are the three main elements that really stood out to me. So first off- that pose. It’s nice. It gives off a certain kind of “casual pride” if there is such a thing. I guess what I’m saying is that he’s confident in himself. Yeah. That’s it. Then the colors. You obviously did a nice job of matching the colors of the Spartan and the background. What is that? Khaki? Soft baby-bottom tan? I like it, whatever it is. I think having him blend into the surroundings while holding a sniper rifle was a perfect combination. It’s his form of camouflage. And so then we get to the background. The amount of pixilation is relatively small compared to other map outskirts. So for finding a nice spot I have to commend you. Then the birds are a really cool touch just because they add an extra “spice” to the shot… Plus they’re the entire reason you named the screenshot what you did. It’d be awkward if they were missing. Haha.
Well done man.

Winter Pollination:
This reminds me of Devious’ style of screenshots, and that’s not at all a bad thing. It’s VERY unique and original while retaining the effects that really draw out the juiciness of the colors. The incineration cannon blasts flying out of one of the flowers legitimately look like they could be part of the flower. That was a really creative idea. And the orange-blurred spots toward the top make me think of pollen in the wind. So… Really good job. This was a very creative work that was masterfully executed.

Thunder Clouds & Emerald Shores:
Honestly… Probably the best scenery screenshot I’ve ever seen on Shatter. I really like it. The title captures the essence of the shot perfectly. Also… Ever since that map came out it always makes me think of “tiberium”. The similarities between some of the Command and Conquer games and Halo are uncanny sometimes. But, back to your screenshot- I like it. I like it a lot.

Ghillie Squat:
The lighting in this is quite the eye-catcher. It makes the shot seem very peaceful, which in pursuing a train of thought I realized that this is perfect. You know how in a hurricane, there is the eye of the storm when everything is quiet and still for awhile, and then the other side of the hurricane rolls through and demolishes everything in its path? Well… That’s pretty relevant when it comes to snipers, I feel like, since snipers have to wait for the perfect shot at their target. During their wait, things are quiet. Things are still. That is, until they finally crack off that shot, when things get really intense. So… For capturing that idea I give you props. Even if that’s not what you were intending… Still. Props. ps- I also like that you kept the color scheme consistent in the range of greens. Very fitting. Oh and the armor choice. Also very fitting.

Night Bringer:
Ok so the backdrop is awesome, especially at the top. However, I feel like the framing of the shot is kind of awkward. I mean… Although the “rule-of-thirds” is definitely not a device you have to follow, I would greatly advocate for it. Although, at the same time, I know that there are certain shots that you can’t get from certain angles, so if this was the only way that you could incorporate that background and pose- then you actually did a nice job of making it work. Otherwise I think that it would be cool if you went back and tried something different in that spot. Because really the potential is there… I just think that right now that leg that’s bulging out in the front of the shot is kind of distracting. All that being said, I still like the shot. Your title certainly fits the vibe that it gives off.

Well done, yet again! Hoping to see another batch soon.

Well, Halo Waypoint did it again and ate my entire post so I’m having to re-write everything again…numerous colourful expletives that would make an ODST blush are heard in Wales

But back onto topic, I’m back after a week or so out with tonsillitis and I am back in the Screenshot making groove once again!

A little bit of feedback first:

@ stealth4ce: WOW! Quite simply wow dear sir! Those are some superb screenshots posted! Really love them all (especially Antique Hero’s sepia tones) with each one’s style and texture, not to mention the various backgrounds and more! Glad to see the EVA helmet getting some extra love too, you can get some crazy effects on the visor, like an angry face if you look carefully enough… Keep up the great stuff matey! I can’t wait to see more!

@ lizking: Glad you’re still posting Screenies for us all to enjoy, don’t let the haters drive you down. I’ve had some delightful tags put in some of my recent stuff too before they got purged by 343. Nice work with Schwarzwald! Always love to see some good Forge Art as I am terrible at that stuff.
I still need to take some of those explosion shots soon too btw, was a blast (literally) messing about on that map with you!

@ Z6 Nitro: So many screenshots once more! always loved that For the Birds piece, how did you get the Sniper’s posing just right like that?
I spy some of your favourite flowers in that selection too on Erosion. :stuck_out_tongue:
The piece of shatter I really like a lot with the green ambient lighting from the map, plus the focus on the terrain and erupting volcano.
With Ghillie Squat, the posing and execution’s fantastic, the only thing I think that needed to be done to make it work more is switching up the white with Khaki or silver as I feel the white’s just a bit too bright.
Nice stuff with Nightbringer too, good posing and good catch with the “crackle” on the hammer’s head!

+++++

On that note, it’s time for some sleep for me. I’ll post up tomorrow my recent works, but if you want a sneak peek, just click here!

@Receptor17 - Welcome back and glad you are feeling better. Thanks for the kind words and I agree khaki probably would have been a better choice. I chose white because having the FX “on” was showing some of the plant leaves white, almost like flower petals.
The pose with For the Birds was as much accident as practice. I had been on Skyline sometime before trying to make the pose work. I just needed to get out of the city I guess.

I have seen several of your screenshots on the waypoint file browser recently, I really like “Caledonian Range” and my favorite is “Drab Commando”. Nice to see you using earth tones :stuck_out_tongue:

@Stealth4ce, Thank you also for your nice comments! Soft-baby bottom tan, I will look for that color next time
I am a big fan of brown and the colors used were the dark and medium browns.

The gravity hammer shot was a suicide shot next to the BTB Blue Spawn.
I justified the knee, at least in my mind, with the thought that he was going to crush something (someone) with his knee.
I agree the knee takes up to much real-estate, but I really liked his placement with the background plus the blue “crackle” of the hammer. Next time I will try to jump further off the edge

Have a good evening/morning all and looking forward to viewing your latest creations!
