Shadows of Reach Question

I was thinking about the Halo Shadows of Reach book and what could possibly be in Halsey’s abandoned lab. The Official Spartan Manual even touched on this a little bit with ONI wanting to send Spartan-IVs in to find something. But the question does sort of remain, what could possibly help the UNSC (and pretty much the rest of controlled space) in stopping Cortana. Since the Covenant Empire was aware of the Forerunner facility and ship under there and Halsey only being able to decipher a portion of the data which she believed (and later predicted correctly to an extent) could turn the tide of the Covenant’s war against humanity. I have a feeling Halsey placed something to help decode/decipher any more information in her absence and maybe Blue Team is going to retrieve it from her lab. And maybe the currently unknown alien faction’s awareness of the undiscovered Forerunner secrets is what’s driving them to invade Reach as well. What else could be of value to the alien faction on Reach since its partial glassing?

I’m betting it’s going to be the cryogenically stored leftover brains Halsey made during Cortana’s creation. While one specimen was used to make Cortana, the others were stored away for future use. Obviously, she never did, but if they needed to make a new AI to combat Cortana, I’d wager those brains are the best samples.

Assuming we don’t find out they didn’t survive and must look for another avenue to combat Cortana. Frankly, I hope that’s the case because Cortana 2.0 is not something that excites me in the slightest.

I figure that it probably is sonething to do with Halsey’s creation of cortana, maybe some kind of fragment of Cortana or part of the Halsey brains that she used to create Cortana.

As I’ve already said on several prior topics, Blue Team is most likely going for neural specimens H-2, H-3 & H-4 which Halsey kept in cyrogenic storage. The irony would be immeasurable if it turns out they were damaged and/or destroyed during OPERATION: WHITE GLOVE though.

I have a feeling it’s going to be some sort of mcguffin that doesn’t have a significant impact on Infinite. After the debacle of H5, and how much EU material was required to fully appreciate that game, I’d assume 343 is wary of placing significant story developments in a book. Most of the people who will play Infinite will not read Shadows of Reach, so it’s probably best that whatever lore information comes from Shadows of Reach doesn’t have a major impact on the game.

The flood… enemy of my enemy is my friend. Maybe something to do with precursors, ancient human the mantle.

I think Shadows of Reach will hold some significance since it’s really a prequel book similarly to Fall of Reach was to Combat Evolved. Though I’m not entirely sure since Halo Infinite takes place two years later.

Halsey was trying to find ways to extend the lifespan or take control of AIs, I thought. Maybe it is like an armor lock from Halo 5: Guardians, but for AI. They may even try a way to survive EMPs, so that they can fight AI or Guardians. Whatever they find may appear in Infinite, but it will most likely not be key to the story.
