Shade Turret in Halo 4?

I was just wondering if the Shade Turret is going to be in Halo 4. For those who don’t know what the Shade Turret is, here is a page on it > Type-26 Anti-Infantry Stationary Gun | Halo Alpha | Fandom

I do hope that it returns, since it was fun to use, But I hope this time around, it’s actually usefull. Most of the past Shade Turrets have been kinda useless IMO.

Anybody going to answer? No? To busy posting in all the whiner threads?

its unconfirmed, to be honest though i was never a fan. it turend too slow and you couldnt choose between a fuel rod and a plasma cannon shade turret. any fuelrod based vehicles always blew up when you killed the driver. with the exception of the banshee.

Thats why I wan’t it to have a MAJOR buff in Halo:4. It has become more and more useless ever since it’s introduction in Halo: CE. And thats just a shame, really.

I do hope it comes back in some form or other. Although I will say did have a number of qualms with previous iteration of the shade turret. We already have plasma turrets in the game so the plasma Shade turret always seemed redundant to me. It didn’t really add anything to gameplay. I didn’t like the fuel Rod version either for pretty much the same reasons. The shade turrets just felt like they were firing the wrong ammunition. CE at least changed it up a bit with the pink plasma splash ammunition thing and actually made them useful to a degree but I have an interesting proposition for future Shades. Dual rapid fire concussion cannons. Similar to Concussion Rifle shots in Reach only probably a bit weaker to balance.

CE: Enemies weren’t the only ones using this. It provided adequate cover against Banshees (like the one that attacks you on the bridge in AotCR). It could be used to trick Elites into standing still. Could be used as a lure and to disarm Zealots. Could be moved anywhere for all sorts of AI glitching (rapid fire infinitely looping firing Grunt, Grunts going on an exodus to get to their Shade). And was useful in launches, splatter, bumping, even speedrunning.

Most memorable use: at the start of AotCR, against 2 Elites and 6-8 Grunts

H2: There’s a Shade in this game?

H3: Slow as hell, clunky, stuck in place. Placement makes it only useful for defense by enemies.

Only time I had use for it was to lure the Brutes at the third tower on The Covenant.

ODST: Slow as hell, clunky, stuck in place. Placement makes it only useful for defense by enemies.

Reach: Slow as hell, clunky, stuck in place, but almost always useful for the enemy regardless of placement. It’s hard as hell to get a shot on the gunner unless they’re being stupid and firing at you even though you’re well guarded from their shots. Enemy turning speed animation is insane. Fuel rod variant is absolutely punishing when used by the enemy. No amount of skilled jetpacking will get you past one. The spread that was supposed to balance the Shade gunner only makes them even more effective.

Only time I’ve seen it being used is at the start of TotS, to finish off survivors.

Only if the blast range is reasonable.

as long as its shaped like the halo 3 one, has the halo 3 purple blasts from it, and has the turn speed and power of the halo 1 shade turret.

I just want it to be easily movable. Screw realistic physics.

I’d love to see some multiplayer maps that featured it, it could be good for defending main map routes, they need to make it pretty powerful to compensate for how vulnerable you are in it though. As a gunner would be a sitting duck for a well placed grenade or rocket, or a sniper.

Obviously this guy just wants attention, anyways, I’ll take the Halo CE shade turret.

If it’s even going to be in Halo 4 it needs a really big buff. In Reach it was useless.

Maybe it should have tracking to air vehicles so it could be AA turret.

I personally think 343 should ditch the plasma and fuel rod variants and use firstly the concussion cannon variant I mentioned earlier (I just think the aesthetic of the shade reminds me of a concussion rifle) but I will add it should have a fairly slow fire rate with gaps between shots similar to the gaps between the CE shade bursts. But secondly there could also be a Anti-air plasma launcher variant that works similar to the plasma launcher in Reach.

I kinda’ liked the Shade Turret. But it was never in any other matchmaking games because of how slow and useless it was.

I’d rather it have Auto aim at higher ranges. The only way it’d be useful is in a closed hallway. Could also use a boost in turning speed. Damage wise it could also use a slight boost.
