Just to lighten up the forums a tad…
If Sgt Johnson were in Halo 4 (for any reason at all), what would be your reaction? I personally (as much as i would <3 for him to be in it) would hate if he was. he died on Installation 04(B), and he should not come back at all.

To be fair, we were lead to believe he died in CE also.
I can see an easter egg in the game featuring Johnson.
If he does come back, it should be in an easter egg where there is a flooded version of him that dosn’t atak you, assumeing his body wasn’t completly destroyed (which it probably was) when the Halo got destroyed.

I would try to think how they would make an explanation with regards to canon for him, I would also be VERY excited.
Maybe a Monitor appeared and teleported Johnson at the end of Halo 3 and he could very much still be alive.

OP sorry but most of the “WHAT IF” threads turn into flame wars. Its best not to post these type of threads unless you have a flame suit on.
Personally, I feel that they should leave SGT Johnson dead. Although in the Legendary ending in Halo CE he was still on the ring fighting that elite and he was right next to the POA when the engines went critical and then he was in Halo 2. ( I know the Legendary ending was suppose to be a joke) So, who knows? If history repeats itself who knows he could end up in Halo 4 but don’t get your hopes up.
Halo 3 needed some dramatic deaths, Johnson being one of them. Johnson is somewhat iconic, killing him off really made some people go ‘wow’.
But if he was to return in Halo 4, there would have to be a pretty good reason why.

Congrats. You were right. There is a Sgt Johnson Easter egg on Shutdown. Check out YouTube and try it yourself (the guy in the video takes forever, but it takes a minute if you have 2 people).

I miss him and Miranda Keyes, but they died and there’s really no question about it… 343 is starting their own trilogy with their own characters, Lord Hood isn’t even mentioned in Halo 4 and afaik he’s still alive and kicking
I would kine of want to see him inthe form of an AI of sorts remade from johnsans brain like cortana or something and have him instructing spartan 4’s on the battlefield saying how there not as good as master chief.

Johnson coming back would be a slap in the face of Bungie and the story of Halo 3. His death was powerful and moving, because of all things to talk about as he died he talked about Cortana and how she’s important. In that scene I could see the Chief was choked up despite wearing his helmet.
Also if he somehow came back, due to more space magic, then it would just go to confirm that 343i really have no idea what they’re doing and they have no idea how to tell stories.
If we go down this road why not bring back Noble Six? Carter? Kat? Or Captain Keyes??
I would kill him in mercy to prevent him from getting the -Yoink!- that the elites have.
I WILL NOT LET 343 TOUCH ANOTHER THING EVER AGAIN.
