Yes, there were Spartan I’s, but the were fuel by atm injections instead of a full augmentation like the Spartan II’s were.

He was a spartan-1. He was appearently in the ORION project, a project that created super-soldiers. Except that these spartans didn’t get special armor.

Johnson is a Spartan 1. It was revealed in the Halo Graphic Novel (I think).

I believe he was indeed a part of the UNSCs initial super soldier projects.

However, technically he was NOT a SPARTAN-I, because there was actually never a SPARTAN-I project. The original attempt (which also varied greatly in their approach and methodology, furthering the separation) was called Project: ORION; Dr. Halsey Named the next project SPARTAN-II to honor the sacrifice of those original members.

Is there a link to confirm any of this? I love the Halo universe but I didn’t know this… what did this come from?

[Johnson enlisted in the UNSC Marine Corps when he was nineteen and was soon thrown into the Insurrection.[5] His name was dubiously associated with dozens of black operations and programs, including assignment to the highly classified unit called ORION Project, which performed “enhancement” procedures on volunteer troops, who would later be referred to as SPARTAN-Is. Johnson was also known to have participated on missions codenamed TANGLEWOOD and KALEIDOSCOPE.](NameBright - Coming Soon)

Dude… I heart shape you.

What augmentations did he receive?

[The members of the ORION program were augmented soldiers, using new training methods and the latest breakthroughs in biochemical developments. Augmentations to the ORION soldiers included muscular enhancement injections, pulmonary respiratory enhancements, retina-inversion injections and cochlea enhancement tuning.[6] In addition, mental augmentations were performed to enhance brain functions[1] including enhanced learning capabilities to allow a subject to learn at a faster and higher rate and enhanced motor skills to improve body movements. The ORION training regime was very difficult and included many tests both mental and physical, including work done in the lab. All sixty-five initial volunteers[1] made it through the training and augmentation procedures and were placed on active duty some time after completing their training. After their initial deployment and success, funding for training the next group of SPARTAN-Is was approved, and within a few years the ORION program had one-hundred-sixty-five active duty personnel.](NameBright - Coming Soon)

Thanks for all the help here amigos, a lot of clarification-

> He was a spartan-1. He was appearently in the ORION project, a project that created super-soldiers. Except that these spartans didn’t get special armor.

^This. Also it brings it up in the Halo Graphic Novel.

Did you just figure this out?

No offense, just asking.

Yes he was, that’s why he couldn’t get infected by the flood. As far as to augmentations he would be comparable to a slightly diluted Captain America.

No that was the Boren’s disease. Remember your First Strike. His nervous system is too scrambled for the Flood to force a match.

Boren’s Syndrome was a cover-up for the fact that Johnson was a Spartan-1.

EDIT: ^Toa Freak beat me too it lol

The Boren’s Syndrome is a cover story and isn’t real. This is mentioned in the Halo Graphic novel and referred to by ONI as the “Paris/BS Spoof”

ignore…

Ya that was caused by the S 1’s augmentations. Well more of a cover up. Look at this from halopedian.com In order to ensure absolute secrecy, the side effects caused by the genetic augmentations were masked as a disease known as Boren’s Syndrome — many ORION soliders retired and some eventually having children. Due to their augmentations their children must also be given injections to ensure no defects.

I was double beat. lol
