There was an Xbox stream just now, and on it they were playing Halo wars 2 blitz. During the stream, one of the guys said that Forge is a DLC character that will for a limited time be free following the game’s release meaning they will lock him from everybody later and have you pay for access.

Pay-walls! Yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay!! Thank you MS, I was fed up of quality DLC, also great to see a reverse of Bungie policy, used to be they sold something for a few months then made it free, not the other way around…all the sarcasm.

Forge is basically a early user exclusive and I like that. its basically another thing you get for buying it on day 1. I hope the future dlc leaders are brand new tho

He did due in halo wars 1. The fear is that he will be overpowered to force people to buy him and then nerfed later when a new overpowered DLC leader is released. This is classic toxic DLC money grab behaviour (see league of legends and CoH2). Basically trying to cash in on nostalgiabux with a chance of ruining multiplayer balance for profit and creating community divides from the get go.

This sorta worries me. I’ve never been bothered by microtransactions (I avoid them and just grind for my stuff), but DLC has me worried.

I’ve seen too many games abuse it to the detriment if multiplayer balance and have been personally burned by it. I simply don’t trust game companies not to make that decision so I will withhold my cash until the DLC ends an the game bundles everything in a few years or if it turns out that they are an exception to the rule I may purchase the game after a few months.
i sincerely hope this awful trend in gaming dies and dies soon.
It doesn’t make sense to have him as a playable leader and be dead. He must of found some forerunner teleport down there or something.

He was a playable leader alongside Ripa 'Moramee and the brute chiefan in the original Halo wars even though all three were dead at the time.

Yep. Sgt Forge died in the final mission of HW1. So… ii’m not sure why he’s being brought back?

Fan service. He is a fan favorite character and played a big role in the Halo wars so its only logical to put him as a DLC character.

Because I highly doubt the hw2 multiplayer is canon. Why could we play as forge in the first halo wars mp if he’s gonna die/ is dead?

Stayed behind to activate a bomb of sorts, manually which meant he had to be right next to it, with no way to teleport to safety.

Yeah, doesn’t make much sense, can’t really see him being a playable leader.
