Seven years running, still my #1 Forge request.

Since the very first days of Community Maps being implemented back in Halo: CE Custom Edition, Halo 3, moving on to Reach, and currently circulating in Halo 4 I’ve always wanted one request implemented:

A custom Lobby banner/photo to go with your custom map.

This, in my opinion, would give more appeal and “originality” to Custom Maps that make it into the Hopper. Placing a photo to a map is far more enticing than a name with the generic “Forge World” banner. Of course, the photo would need to be 343i approved for Matchmaking.

This would be awesome but it is probably omitted for the same reason custom emblems are omitted: to prevent people from creating inappropriate content.

There was quite a bit of spawn point anime “art” in Reach.

Regardless of possible issues, you have my support.

Simply allowing someone to take an in-game screenshot and mark it as a thumbnail for a custom map should be good enough.

I haev to agree that this would be useful.

When it comes to forge my typical response is “ALL THE FEATURES!” so this is no different. Personally I just really want to be able to place AI down, can’t believe we can’t do that still I’ve imagined it since CE

Yes, I have always wanted this feature as well.

The reason why we need something like this is because the plethora of user generated maps can become confusing. With all the forged maps in Halo Reach matchmaking, I personally lost track of which name went to which map at times. It’d be nice to at least have 343 create a screenshot for forged maps that they plan on putting into matchmaking.

I could not agree more. I’ve wanted this for a long time but completely forgot about the fact that there will be those users who have innapproriate images. 343i doesn’t have the time or need to look through every map to make sure it’s okay. Regardless, I would still love something like this to happen, although I have no idea how to implement it and prevent users from using inappropriate content.

If you get “image banned” then all your maps appear as Backwash…or a portrait of Mister Chief.

As I see it, the negative of possible lewd imagery doesn’t even come close to outweighing the positive of giving your map a personal cover picture.

Yes, I refrained from posting about this in hopes someone could get the point across better than I could. I still to this day vote the wrong map, getting the names confused.

Correct, but 343i could make it part of the terms to submitting a custom map to place in Matchmaking. This would just be another checkpoint for approval; a clean banner/photo.

As far as Custom Game Lobbies, to each his own if a friend’s photo is appalling.

That sounds quite interesting. It sure would make lobbies more interesting just by adding a new piece of scenery to look at pre-match.

This! Even if it is a 343 only tool for forge maps that make it into matchmaking. It would make it a lot easier to differentiate the forge maps in matchmaking.

Putting In-game screenshots would be fine, anything outside of that is a risk.

Seriously, why was that?

I’m not a forger, but it seems a worthy addition to the forge tool set. Now if only we’d get more forge maps in regular matchmaking…

They should do what Far Cry did. After you ‘CREATE’ a map from scratch you could take a screenshot of it to use as its map image.

This is a great idea. I remember on Reach I had over 500 maps and I couldn’t remember which were good, which were bad. A preview would be perfect

I also wish for some kind of custom game search. Once in a while people troll, and make a pit where they just kill the other team, or even some maps are in “beta”, thus unbalanced, or unfair.

Heres my personal idea

-A playlist in the list of multiplayer playlists

-There will be lobbies running like other games

-Every one starts off with a 50% neutral rating

-If the maps they play are bad, unfair, unbalanced, or bad overall, when you quit the game you are forced to rate from 1-5

-The rating will affect that gamertag when running lobbies in the multiplayer playlist

-If good, the ratings will be 80-100%, bad will be anything lower really, personal choice

-Bad hosts will be rated appropriately.

TL;DR Edition: Lobby with ratings of each user, so you know the host is good.

Probably the same way innapropiate screenshots are dealt with — a report button.
