Settling the Controller vs KBM debate with data

what is then more fair is going to be the next question more since we all think what is fair compleet diffrend more.

there are people that fair means for then that the aim assist needs be come more weaker then its now.
then you have people that for there fair means that it needs to become what stronger since its to weak to be callt fair for then.

i think more its now more the time that 343 most tell that there not going to chance anything with the Aim assist at all and its staying like its now.
that we have to deal with it more and accept it that its not going to chance at all.
people will not become happy about it then but thats something there need to deal with it more.

its the same thing whit a lot off other things 343 most tell a clear answer about it if there going to chance it or not and if there going to chance it also tell how its going to be chance at the same time.

this is one off the other big reason’s why it was a big mistake to release halo on the PC platform since we end only with more and more problems and lame discusions.

PC players shouldn’t be excluded for simply asking for fairness.

I know how terrible playing Halo with a mouse feels. It’s crappy.

The new update has the BR as a spawn weapon in the unranked 4v4 playlist. Not fun. That gun is straight oppressive and has no skill celling on controller. No aiming required just spam your shots.

Spam your shots - you must be talking about the spam king known as the side kick.

Yes the sidekick is pretty bad too!

wait really? br starts in 4v4? nice

Well i guess i wont be playing halo infinite ever again. BR spawns always lead to greasy gameplay and social is supposed to be about chilling out and having fun

Reduce aim assist/ bullet mag thus increasing the skill ceiling…

…problem solved!!

Yes!
All the previous Halo games had a much higher skill celling.

That’s because it’s different generation… before there were hardcore gamers which were skilled gamers and then casual gamers who sucked. 2022 Hardcore gamer means you play alot and casual means you don’t where-as sweat means what we used to call hardcore gamers. More casuals are playing and more so this generation than any doesn’t like to communicate or work as a team. Less team work = less skill required to beat them

Great. Another condescending input zealot.

Listen, you’re not the first person to think that. Play whatever you like but don’t let it go to your head. Playing on M&K doesn’t make you superior to anyone here.

It’s doesn’t matter how many insults you throw. If you’re looking for a solution why don you ask yourself why playing M&K feels so terrible compared to other established games like Counter-Strike?

If you can play that, you can pretty much play any M&K fps granted they set up the controls correctly. Which 343 didn’t.

And neither does gate keeping this game from MKB players make you superior.

This game has a low skill celling and aim assist is a big part of that. This is a fact many pros have said this and these pros are used to playing both MKB and controller.

Wow.

Just wow.

What else is there to say about this? Nothing GOOD…

What you meant to say was “Playing on controller doesn’t make you superior either.” But I know what you were trying to say and even then, that was never the mindset I had while on this post.

It’s just I was a bit too toxic when debating about controller vs mkb and didn’t fully understand why MKB players were really upset. I assumed 343 implemented the controls correctly and once I picked up the mouse, it felt awful.

Being the counter-strike player that I am, I know what good mice controls feel like and Halo’s SUCK. So for that mistake, I’m sorry.

big might lmao. I cant take you seriously.

As a trained scientist I should point out the following:

Your sample size is 20 for each metric. This is too small to determine statistical significance via a chi squared test…especially when we know these data could be influenced by cheats.

You presume headshot accuracy indicates total skill. You have ignored movement, target acquisition speed, map knowledge, team planning/tactics.

Each datapoint has unknown variables. Which keyboard? Which controller with what deadzone? Back paddles? Hybrid thumbstick-mouse inputs? Chronus? Framerate? System stability? ISP speeds? Party composition?

Unconscious bias. You have created a testing regime based upon your opinion, have tested based upon your opinions and therefore have found a result based upon your opinion.

In short - I appreciate what you were trying to do, but no.

At the end of the day, none of this matters. Or should matter.

People go about this the wrong way all the time.

It’s not about nerfing or the other. It’s making sure the experience remains consistent between both inputs.

100% kill the input cross play and all my friends would come back to the game.

I will point out that there is no need to design experiments or use complicated statistical analysis to realize that the current MKB vs controller situation is very unbalanced. I don’t hate controller I play it a lot as well but if you spend a few weeks playing MKB the disparity will become very obvious.
Notice that the pros people who need every advantage have all settled to using controller. This is similar to the Olympics, when every athlete was using high tech swimming gear before it got banned. Sure there is the argument that Halo has always been a controller game and muscle memory but that doesn’t make sense as these top tier players also play MKB for other games.

With respect, you cannot use poorly designed testing to support your view and then not accept when your methods are pointed out to be unreliable. One of the main reasons for this is because you effect “positive reinforcement” in finding the answer you want subconsciously.

Your opinion is totally valid as an opinion, but it is not backed up by any amount of reliable data - and that is a shame.
