Settler is the worst map I’ve played, there’s barely any cover, you can’t walk 10 metres without being shot at by someone across the map. Why do people always vote for it?

Probably because they’re all looking forward to picking you off from across the map every 10m you walk.
Maybe it’s because they want to pick off idiots with no map knowledge.
Settler is a terrible map though.
Yeah I agree Settler is a pretty bad map . .
It had that problem with re-spawning in the water.
And a lot of people just camp the ridge, and unskilled players just keep running up the ridge.
I think that’s why people vote for it, because of the campable ridge and unskilled players running up the ridge.
I personally think a map that I made would be a good replacement for it.
I hate Settler too.
I like it. Taking the ridge is fun when done right. And I dig that little side base with the shotgun…
That said I’m sick of playing it every other match.
Settler is wonderful. Taking the ridge is vital for victory and it’s fun to storm it. I might be a little biased because I play it with my clan and we have a good strategy and can dominate by teamwork.
The ridge is over rated IMHO.
I stay at the cave and DMR those impatient individuals that venture into my line of sight. If I have a partner, they are dead. If they decide to fight with a DMR, I win most of the time because of the first shot advantage. If they decide to fight with their new favorite weapon, the BR, they also die against the DMR at that range.
There is tons of cover. And lots of ways to take back that hill.
I vote settler in CTF because it’s easy to spawnkill the enemy over and over.
I still remember a guy that did 4 kills and 51 deaths LOL
CTF on Settler is too hard, imo. But for all other game modes, I like it
Why? Because if I’m on red team and Settler is an option for CTF I have crazy advantage.
Map is broken beyond recognition, but broken in red teams favour. It’s like sword base, ridiculously unbalanced in favour of the red teaM (just so you know, I hate sword).
Not even the ridge. I just jump up above where the shotgun spawns exactly opposite from the ridge and sit up there. Decent cover and a fantastic line of sight. Can get a ridiculous crossfire going if you have teammates up on the ridge too.
Horribly broken map. I think I generaly go something like 20-30+ on that map if I spawn on the red team. But it makes for easy wins, and its fun to be blue team as well because it’s more of a challenge that way.
All that said, I wouldn’t even bat an eye if it was reworked or removed.
I didn’t like this map at first but I quite like it now.
Settler is appalling.
I enjoy settler for the most part. I don’t so much like it for btb but it can be fun in ctf. I make it my personal responsibility to keep the hill and railgun under the control of my team, but I’m not usually too interested in cross-mapping during the game. Besides, I use the LR and it doesn’t really have enough ammo usually to camp and cross map for any extended period of time
I don’t like it in BTB but it’s good in CTF. There’s plenty of cover, I rarely die in the middle of the map.
It’s not the best map, no. But you can find cover :\
I like Settler, it’s made for long sights due to the wide open spaces. Stop running into the center of the map and you’ll do better. The battle for the hill could get annoying though, cause it could last the entire match.

Well the game is over once one team controls the cliff for more than 3 minutes…so yeah it lasts the entire match.
A map with no cover? Have you played Blood Gulch? Talk about overrated.
