While randomly checking my character on Reach, i noticed that my service tag had changed to the default ‘H488’ instead of ‘FISH’ which it had been for many months previously. Upon trying to change it back i got the message ‘This service tag is not allowed on xbox live’ yadda yadda. This also happened when i tried to change it to ‘F1SH’
What happened?

I have no idea why this is happening, but someone that I play with got the same message and had to change his “FRAG” tag.
I’m guessing that they must have a list of fairly common tags and want to make people be more distinctive with them. It is kind of annoying when two people on your team have the same tag. But that only happens once in a blue moon … People complain about 100’s of things that are more annoying than this that they could be dealing with first.
The service tag is under the control of the Microsoft censor for Xbox LIVE, if Microsoft deem a word/phrase to be offensive, they add it to the censor.
Although, it has a record of being completely abnormal, the word FISH being added to the list makes it appear even more so.
There is nothing you can do about it other than choose a new service tag.
