Service Tag... not allowed?

Now this isn’t a huge deal but… it makes me curious.

My service tag on Reach used to be BLU. I had it like that since the release of the game. Come to find today that my service tag has been changed to something quite random.
When I change it back to BLU it tell me ‘this tag is not allowed on Xbox Live’.

After 12 months of the tag, explain to me what is so profound that either 343 or Microsoft themselves has to ban it?
To be more clear it was the end of my previous gamertag, being “Pikablu”.
Anyway, I can’t for the life of me figure out what’s wrong with having that.

There is a madman sitting in an office at Microsoft adding random words from a dictionary to the list of censored words. And the other people at Microsoft either can’t find him or don’t care. Really, I’m not kidding.

Lovely story. I’m sure he’ll OD himself soon enough then.

OP, it’s the same asinine filter as the one being discussed here. You may be able to find some information there that can help you with your situation.

Said madman should be fired.

Literally. Like, with a blowtorch.

You have to find him first. He’s a very stealthy madman, he is.

Microsoft always did enjoy sheltering their least competent, intelligent, and literate employees from public criticism…

But even then the other people working at Microsoft must have noticed that someone among them has gone completely bonkers by now.

Not if they, too, are bonkers.

But I fear we are getting off-topic. Less comments on Microsoft and more complaints about the filter! :stuck_out_tongue:

…Seriously, though.

Yes well, I did reply in that other thread. I say we can let mine die and continue our complaining there.
Or keep replying here, doesn’t matter to me either way.

Microsoft doesn’t want people advertising Blu-ray.

“snow” and “lord” are banned service tags as well.

Dlk7 is another one of those banned service tags. I’ve been trying to figure this out for a while but I am at a loss. Dlk8 and dlk6 are allowed though…
