They seriously need to fix it. I doubt I will continue playing long if I constantly have to keep leaving games and re-queing to find local servers in the awful matchmaking. It wouldn’t be so bad if it wasn’t GLACIALLY SLOW to actually join a game but when it can take upwards of three minutes (yes I timed it) to actually get into a game after first queuing, it’s a real problem when you get a few high ping servers in a row. And it makes playing ranked a non-starter outside USA, since you’re screwed either way - if you get dumped on a 300ms ping server you are at a big disadvantage, and if you leave early because of the ping you get penalised.

Yeah this needs to be fixed. We’ve been through this before with previous halo’s. Please 343, don’t make the same mistakes all over again.

Absolutely. I think many players are reporting problems in which the root cause is the fact they were playing on a server that was located on the other side of an ocean.

I agree, as someone living in south america, I can’t stand that I have to constantly be sent to North America and play with 120+ ping.
And before anyone says “Well there just isn’t enough population in SA” WELL- maybe there would be if you didn’t keep sending everyone into NA, the same problem is in MCC, let us lock ourselves in South American servers, both us and the NA players with thank you.
I’m to the point now that when I click Quick Play, it doesn’t even try to look for south american players first, it INSTANTLY finds me a game in NA.
Worst part is, I feel like I’m shouting into a void cause south america doesn’t make companies as much money so why bother listening to us?

Exactly, I have no interest in playing this game with 120+ ping. If I have to wait longer, I’ll wait.
This issue should get more attention.

Dude if you’ve played halo for more than 6 months you’d realise 343 (and Devs in general) don’t give a flying -Yoink!- about Australians.
Took them forever to “fix” master chief collection for us, but by that point the population was dead and buried.
Not allowing region lock is stupid, if you have dedicated servers you allow region lock. Otherwise go back to P2P hosting.

Us Aussies need to start up a discord or Spartan Clan if it comes so we can team up together which will help force an Aussie server… shouldn’t have to do this though right…

Region selection is such a standard feature in multiplayer games, and it would be sad if the players have to do these extra steps to play locally.

I want everyone posting here to understand, the devs most likely care and want everyone in the world to enjoy their game, but the executive up top decide what the devs are going to work on for the week, and it’s those people deciding that some places aren’t worth the time and money, or at least not prioritized.
As frustrating as it is, let’s be sure not to hate mob on the devs themselves.
I would chose low ping over a balanced match any day, let me be forged in the fires of my own network!

Tired of the consistent neglect for oceanic players in Halo games. It took them years to add server selection to MCC. They better add it soon.
