Seriously?!

Did any of you guys play the first Halo Wars? Do you know what Real Time Strategy is? Why is everyone coming to these forums and asking CA to include FPS elements and weird customizations?

This game is called Halo Wars 2, so it’s going to be similar to Halo Wars - which is an RTS. It’s a sequel…

Perhaps play the first one, on Xbox 360. It’s in games on demand. Or wait till it’s backwards compatible. Either way, play it. Get to know it, and then perhaps make suggestions that could fit in with its type of gameplay. Remembering that it’s pretty unlikely that CA is going to reinvent the wheel in terms of what to expects. Although I would love it if they surprised us with improved controls (Ensemble’s were damn good as well, but nothing is ever perfect).

Halo Wars is an RTS first, and a Halo game second.

Yeah, an FPS tactical game would be a good game, but not as a Halo Wars game.

I want improvements to the game and for CA to make it their own, but I still want it to be a top down RTS.

Its completely unreasonable to think they would announce a Halo Wars sequel, but then make it completely different from the original. If they wanted a tactical FPS they would have made an entirely new game series so as not to confuse people with their expectations.

What in the world should prevent anyone from suggesting their idea no matter how non-conforming it is with what’s established? This is a forum where the intention is to have discussions about different subjects people choose to share or want to talk about.

If you disagree with a suggestion you kindly point out why you think it won’t work, won’t fit or simply that you don’t like it. Or alternatively you leave the thread alone, becausr without your participation it’ll die off quicker.

Those are all fair points, and kind of what I’m driving at.

I agree with you OP but there is no need to get too annoyed. The Halo community is very much an FPS action based group. It makes sense that they want FPS action things in the RTS game.

You should be able to trust Creative Assembly to make a balance for the hardcore RTS players and those who are totally new to the genre.

Yeah well…next thing you know they will ask for it to be like Syndicate/Syndicate wars without any real RRS elements

FPS would really limit your view in an RTS anyways. Might be good for a quick up close action shot or somthing, but doesn’t really make sense to me.

I agree with OP. This was the main reason why Halo Wars 1 died so fast. Halo fans thought they were buying an FPS and got mad when they didn’t get what they wanted. This game cannot and will not be a first person shooter and there really isn’t much reason to have “base customization”.

There is a difference between making reasonable suggestions that fit within an established genre, or make sense in terms of practical evolution and suggestions that are born from fanboy-ism ("I like Halo, all games should be like Halo"). What I am seeing on here is essentially the same if I went to the Halo 4 Forums and suggested that Halo 4 should incorporate turn-based attack and defend elements, such as let’s say, Pokemon (anyone of them). It wouldn’t make any sense, as they are two totally different styles of gameplay.
I suppose it is fair for anyone to make any suggestions that they please, but it seems like a lot of the suggestions come from individuals that are ignorant to what Halo Wars was and was attempting to do… To be a practical, challenging, competitive, and fluid RTS on console.

To be fair, if they did something like a turn based X-Com style strategy game that would be pretty cool.

That’s still within the bounds of RTS though. I’ve seen people on here saying there should be straight up FPS moments in the game. No, just no. That’s not how it works.
