Seriously, why the hell isn't ranked all BR starts

It’s 2012 for Christs sake. This game has been out for 4 and a half years and it’s still not exclusively BR starts in ranked. AR starts is not meant for ranked gameplay - fact.

Please, for the love of all things good, make all Ranked playlists BR starts every game. It’s just ridiculous that this hasn’t happened yet. People still play this game. If you guys can’t come up with 10 minutes to fix this, then you shouldn’t be in charge of Halo. Just sayin’.

343 Industries have not touched Halo 3, nor have Bungie since September 2012, if anyone is to blame, it is Bungie, not 343, they have had control for little under six months, while Bungie had control for three years.

343 Industries by the looks of it, don’t have any plans to change Halo 3 at all either, their main focus is Reach & Halo 4.

I know it’s not their fault, and they don’t mess with Halo 3, but they do have the power to fix it, and it’s not like it’s some huge overhaul that’s going to take a lot of time and effort. Just go in, and switch the starting weapon. It can’t be very hard, and it would make the game so much better.

People still play it. Probably 20-30% of the people who still play Halo games play Halo 3. Even if that’s not completely accurate there’s still thousands of people playing Halo 3. The least they could do is fix this one thing.

And it’s not like it’s a debatable thing, either. Bungie did it right in Reach to make DMR starts for all the ranked playlists. It needs to be done for Halo 3.

Two good teams playing each other with AR starts just leaves everyone either running around like a chicken with their heads cut off, or crouching around and playing really slow, boring games. The AR is just not the right weapon to spawn with, especially not for competitive play.

You seem to think the AR is useless.

AR for close range battles

BR for mid-long range battles

BR picked up on map for the sake of the sandbox

Why do you want to use one weapon? That would be horrible if Halo was a one gun beats all game (although it sometimes feels that way)

Solution- use your “skills” and utilize the sandbox, if you really need the BR to succeed, then find it on the map.

The AR is useful at close range, but is useless as a starting weapon. You clearly have not played a high level, competitive game of AR starts.

The BR is a necessity to have as a starting weapon in gametypes that are meant to be competitive (aka, ranked playlists). How about you just go play social if you don’t want BR starts?

How about instead of making the BR the pickup weapon, we make the AR the pickup weapon?

I agree with OP. AR’s are very boring when people play to win. BR fights are actually fun and exciting. The AR has it’s place in the game, and its a good weapon to try and push with in a very tight spot, but it shouldn’t be the starting weapon.

Although I highly doubt this will be touched. Im not too sure if 343 even owns Halo 3 to be honest, and even if they do, they got more important things to worry about

As I said, they have no plans to deal with Halo 3, Reach & H4 are their top priorities.

Implying they have to spend a lot of time and resources to fix one small problem…

The Assault Rifle is amazing! There is always lots of BRs to pick up near by…usually.

For ranked, every game should be BR starts, but with the AR as a secondary, just for the sake of having a secondary. This way, at lower levels, people can still use the AR if they so please, since many lower level players prefer using the AR. Social playlists can continue to have both AR starts and BR starts as normal.
