Not sure if 2 had it or not but still even though someone might state that if they are able to find a game quick it shouldnt matter, well honestly thats not the point. I would like to see just how many players are playing this game and if it is as big as people are saying and that there are a lot of players online then I would like to see so. Halo 4 didnt have it nor does Halo 5 and honestly I dont see the issue in having it there.
You don’t see the issue in having it, I don’t see an issue with not having it.
Well yeah it helps a lot of us when selecting a playlist, why would i waste time going in a playlist with say 1000 players in it when my matchmaking experience would be a lot better in a playlist that had 5k in it in terms of connection, skill matching etc. But as always 343 just goes their own way by removing all the important stuff.

Yup, the only reason I like it…
Will be useful a little down the road.

People just grope for reasons to hate something that they dislike so blindly. Calling them hipsters is pretty much accurate.
80% of the people that nag about Halo not being good simply just joined the bandwagon, not being creative enough to form their own opinions.
I Can’t believe not having a population counter is a problem to you. Can you still find a game? Can you still shoot the other players? Can you still unlock items in the Req system? The point is, having a pop. counter or not having one affects absolutely nothing. Just play the game and stop complaining about non sense. There’s a lot more stuff to complain about that actually affects the game.
Population counter = irrelevant to gameplay.
Would much prefer a latency meter to indicate whether “teleporting” players are due to my connection or theirs.

It really is getting beyond irritating how they keep going their own way. They need to realize their ideas are all terrible.
Nobody likes what they think is cool. They need to stop and go back to what Bungie created… because they had good ideas.

honestly, like people have stated before. It’s easier for 343 if people can’t determine whether Halo 5 was flop or not, as if people think it was a flop, they would likely start playing another game.
However.
Even though 343 wouldn’t show it, I don’t know how people who use the H5’s UI to create websites like Halotracker haven’t done it.
I don’t know how the coding specifically works for the UI, but I would assume with my basic knowledge in coding in Java and Python that it would be possible for the coders to write an algorithm which takes count of how many accounts stats are changing every lets say 15 minutes and add them up to have a player count that updates every 15 minutes.
This wouldn’t be able to give a detailed count like how many players are in each list, but it would be able to tell how many players are in warzone or arena at the same time.
It actually introduced me to some different game types that I may not have tried in the other Halo games. I often checked the pop counter to see what the large majority of people were playing. There were times when a lot of people were playing something that I really wasn’t interested in… and times when I saw few people playing what I was interested in and that would often lead me to try a new game type just to change things up a bit. Or there were times when it led me to give a game type I tried previously, but didn’t like, another chance since a larger population can often mean more diversity in game play.
I didn’t always use it. If I really wanted to play something, I played it without checking the counter. But I enjoyed having it there on nights when I wasn’t sure what I felt like doing. It was one of those ‘little things’… things I like to call the devs showing a little attention for detail… that I appreciated.
Was not including it a game changer? No. Do we need it? No. Does it have anything to do with how fast I got in a game? Not really in the way I used it.
But I see it as something else in a list of [little or not] things, that just got omitted, forgotten or left on the cutting room floor for reasons that we’ll likely never get an honest answer to if we ever get an answer at all. That’s my own opinion, based on my own “logic” and I could not possibly care who likes it or who does not.

Im just referring to a population counter as a whole and not directed towards playlists.
