… but I have a sickening feeling that it may be to little to late. A vast majority of gamers have already left and even with this update they likely won’t come back. It’s kinda bittersweet. Halo 4 is feeling more like a Halo game but many gamers have already walked away.

Just enjoy the game if you can and let others do the same. We have heard this population topic many times and bringing it up again won’t change anything. There’s a thread just dedicated to discussing population here. Go crazy.
The TU did more bad than good IMO.
The game is much more balanced, but the entire game is just lightning fast now. It feels more like tribes than halo.
Well, 343 should have addressed these problems earlier. But they put off a lot of it and this is what they got. Well, there is always Halo 5.
Halo 4 doesn’t feel any more like Halo, if anything it feels more like CoD than before. However it is now much more fun. I really enjoy playing Halo 4 now, and I’m no longer disappointed by the multiplayer aspect of the game. Good job 343i.
Hopefully they learned their lesson. Keep kill times and movement speed like Halo 2 and people will be happy. I would still like a Team Slayer playlist. Pre set loadouts with radar or Custom loadouts without PODs. That may never happen but weapon tuning was a HUGE step in the right direction.
I think 343 should advertise this on Youtube. Call it Halo 4 Rebirth or something.

Dude, calm down. The theme of his post is to congratulate 343 for a successful Title Update while pointing out that it sucks that most of the players have already left. Not everything making one tiny mention of population belongs there, especially if it isn’t the main theme of the post.
OT: I agree OP, I tried a game or two earlier but I’m waiting for my friends to come online so I don’t have to play with randoms. I wish they had put this out earlier to maybe save-face a little more but I guess it’s better late than never.

Halo was always a fast game, right up until Reach went and -Yoinked!- with the program. This, to me, is a step in the right direction. I honestly can’t remember the last time I played Halo 4 for 3 hours straight. Before, it was simply too frustrating. Right now, I’m having a blast.

I’m sorry, I don’t remember anywhere in my post where I was raging. I was telling him in a very respectable matter and didn’t resort to bashing him or what he’s saying. I’m just telling the OP where he can go to discuss the population without having to create a new thread. It is a big part of his theme and if he chooses to talk about it more, he’ll know where. Just trying to be helpful.

It was NEVER this fast. I’ve played halo for a decade, and it NEVER, EVER got this fast out of some silly, novelty custom game mode.
And I would argue being slow has it’s advantages. It allows you to react to being shot and using tactical thinking to turn the tide even after an encounter starts.
That is barely possible now in 4.

Dude, it’s only a few months after the game released, not even a year. Better a few months then 2 years later or something. If it was a different game company, they possibly would have never even addressed this problem.
And who cares if they left, let them walk away from a great game. It’s their fault.
Real halo lovers stayed.

I never had the pleasure of playing Halo 2 multiplayer online, but from I remember in Halo 3 and I played it last a couple of months ago, and the kill times were fast. The only difference is the recharge rate of the shield was incredibly quick as well to match it.

Well sprint allows for faster map movement and closing distances. Instant respawn also speeds up the game. The kill times seem to be on par with past halo games but I don’t think they had auto-aim assist like this since Halo 2. Which means most players can get that quick kill. In Halo 3, most players would rarely hit a 4 shot kill. In CE a 3sk with the pistol was even rarer. The 5 shot with the DMR and the 4 shot with the BR are not nearly as difficult to hit compared to those titles. But this is what we have and I congratulate 343i for making steps in this direction.

Halo 2 was something special. It was just fun.
Anyways, the kill times may have been just as fast, but it didn’t FEEL as fast. There’s a difference.

No Halo game even comes close to having the insane amount of aim assist that Halo 2 did.
The Halo 3 BR you missed shots more often because it wasn’t hitscan and it had a LOT more spread on it then the Halo 2 version did.
> It was NEVER this fast. I’ve played halo for a decade, and it NEVER, EVER got this fast out of some silly, novelty custom game mode.
The only reason it feels fast is because of instant respawn. Removing it would go a long way in slowing the game down, pacing wise. Keep in mind that previous weapons have killed just as fast or faster than the weapons we have now.
> And I would argue being slow has it’s advantages. It allows you to react to being shot and using tactical thinking to turn the tide even after an encounter starts.

I disagree, it is still completely possible to turn and begin strafing, which is now more effective due to the increase in movement speed. You simply need to react in a faster manner to the action.
Are people really complaining about the kill times? Halo 2 has pretty damn fast kill times. What makes this any different? Other than the stupid instant respawn this game would a little like H2.
I hate how the Supressor is still garbage and love the the DMR is now useless! Yay!
I will play the updated settings for a few weeks before rendering a ifnal opinion, but as for it being too late… I disagree. I always felt the community expectations for change were too entitled and unrealistic, e.g. they tended toward “we want it months ago”. These things take time and effort, much more so than kids tend to realize.
I think we’ll see a steady if unspectacular return of players, but the word of caution is: don’t expect dramatic change overnight. That’s not very realistic. I predict the population will increase from here on out, but you’ll need to let a few months pass to get the big picture!

Agree on the former, maybe on the latter.

I’m complaining about the speed of the game, of which kill times are merely a factor, not the kill times themselves.
