Serious Question: Would you stop playing Halo?

Ive been looking at all the various FPS that have hit the market after Halo, the wealth of options that werent available, even as close back as Halo 3. I see that Bad Company came out in 2008, CoD 4 came out in 2007, all these new FPS games and shooters which rose in popularity and are hugely succesful now were coming into their own around Halo 3. I wondered something. There was much complaining about Halo 4, and still is, and after the recent Halo 5 changes were made, due to the Beta, I have yet to see completely satisfied individuals. So I wanted to ask something.

Assuming Halo Reach never came out, never came back, as arguably that started the “downward” trend of Halo (I happen to like all the games), and the final game in the series was Halo 3, or ODST. Would you be happy with that? In other words

Would Halo 3 being the last Halo be ok with you?

You’d never get a Halo 4, Reach, Bungie would move on to Destiny, and these other FPS would take up more of your time, as Im sure only a small portion of us on here can say that we only play Halo as an FPS.

Like this post if you would’ve wanted Halo 3 to be the last Halo game ever made.

Like this post if you want to keep playing Halo

Yes as long as they still remastered MCC on the xbox one. I don’t give a damn about any of the new halo’s, although reach wasn’t entirely bad, it just wasn’t halo anymore at the core.

I never played Halo 2 online so TMCC was my first chance and I fell in love with it. I am not stopping playing Halo 2 anytime soon but I’m not getting Halo 5 even I can see (I joined at ODST) that this is not Halo. The Halo I fell in love with has gone. No point trying to hold onto the past move on to other games and keep playing TMCC for Halo.

Nope.avi

I love all the games. I see no reason for every game to be the same. If I prefer one game over another I simply play that. I don’t expect nor want sequels to be the exact same.

No. Even if the mm would collapse, there’s still an awesome story to it

If the MCC never came out, I doubt I would still be playing Halo.

Halo Ce is pretty much the only Halo I play these days.
Maybe Halo 5 will take that spot if it ends up being much better than it is now. Doubtful though.

No thx. For me Halo finally seems to be heading in the direction it had the potential for since H3.

For me Halo 3 is the reason all my friends quite halo and moved onto games like Battlefield and COD. If Halo had stopped at a game I would have wanted it to stop at Halo 2. Best multiplayer game I have played to date. Halo 5 beta is the best multiplayer game I played since halo 2. I like halo 3,4, and reach multiplayer but none of them came close to 2. 5 is taking the right step to become one of the top fps multiplayer games again.

To answer your original question. Yes I would be done with halo had they stopped at 3 as it was the worse of all the halo games for multiplayer.

Now I would not have moved on to other FPS. COD is just a horrible multiplayer game. Battlefield was better but not by much.

I’m staying with halo a big while longer.

Have you seen the graphics on halo 3 for 2006 though. Pretty awesome.

Nope, never!

I stop playing Halo when they stop being good. Even Halo 4 isn’t so bad post-Title Update. It was the poor state of the game pre-Title Update that killed the population. Halo 4 in TMCC is much more enjoyable even though it has lag issues and lacks the DLC perks. Objectively speaking, every halo game is “Good,” people just compare one Halo game to another and if it’s 1% less enjoyable it’s automatically the Ed Wood of video games. Nostalgia is an important factor too. Halo 3 is still enjoyable but it is unbalanced, and Halo 2 is hella unbalanced.

No. Each game has its era for me, a period of time where I play the game mainly and very often. However, once I get tired of a great game, thats usually it. I just find another great videogame or non-videogame activity to take my time. I would occasionally revisit great games that I used to non-stop, but just for a few days until I get tired of it again. The shooters I spent SIGNIFICANT time playing has been like this:

Halo 2 (2005 - 2006)
Call of Duty 2 (2006)
Gears of War (2006 - 2007)
Halo 3 (2007 - 2009)
Modern Warfare (2008)
Modern Warfare 2 (2010 - 2012)

Halo 5 Beta (2015)

I’ve played all Halo FPSs, all Gears of War, Titanfall, Destiny, but no other shooter has captured my time and affection like those 7 games. And although I loved all of them, I will probably not be going back to spend a lot of time with them ever again. For Halo 5 beta, I got no choice. I have recently been really enjoying Halo 4 (on MCC) after playing Halo 5 beta though more than I did on Xbox 360.

Halo was a late 2007 release though. Also, keep in mind Halo 3 on MCC looks much sharper and smoother than the original game did (same with Halo CE and Halo 2).

I already jumped from 360 to ps4 partly because halo isnt very good anymore so I wouldnt care.

I think its the way they’ve done the playlist as I’m thinking the same, I love the Legendary Slayer games.

I wouldn’t want to stop playing new Halo games but It is upsetting to see Halo became what it isn’t and getting swallowed by the norm.

And because of 4 and MCC I have to be cynical with my once beloved franchise.

I’ll never quit playing Halo. Never.
