Please get rid of friendly vehicle damage. The amount of times I’ve gotten into a Mantis/Scorpion only to be Grenaded by my own team because they wanted it or they’re just an -Yoink-. All friendly fire needs to be gone in ALL modes.
It’s been getting worse the more I play. On November 6th there were none of these people but now after Christmas it’s every other match I get them.
I saved my team mate once by accidently chucking a grenade at him when he was going to get lazered (his vehicle was smoking, so one nade would of destroyed it)
As annoying as it is to have your team mate blow up a vehicle just because they’re jealous, I don’t think removing that removing team vehicle damage would be an appropriate solution based on that in normal gameplay, doing so would remove the opportunity for many humorous situations where the damage wasn’t intentional.
As an example think of like you have a spartan laser and you’re firing it at an enemy, but at the last second, your team mate drives a ghost in and splatters the enemy while you’re firing a laser at them. If friendly vehicle damage was off then nothing would happen and the uncoordination of the team would go unpunished, if it was on the ghost would blow up and the team mate would now be stuck out in the middle of the battlefield.
I think a solution to this might be actually turning friendly fire on along with a ban system of sorts, where if you blow up the vehicle your team mate is in, not only does the vehicle die, but they die as well, and then either the player who was killed can opt to boot the jealous player or have it be like if a player racks up enough betrayals they get banned immediately.
But I like grenading my teammates vehicles.
OT: if splattering your teammates is the only way to cause betrayals in slayer gametypes, then destroying their vehicles with friendly fire is the only counteraction one can take.

Nope, just don’t get in them then, problem solved:)
It is annoying, and it seems to be happening more on Reach now days also (i have gone back to Reach die to issues i have with H4).
The best way to combat this is to get yourself a team.
Just like real life - it is beneficial to network with other people, be charismatic friendly and a ‘peoples person’. Become socialable, turn your mic on and try to identify other decent humans out there.
Then as you make friends, put a team together.
I am not saying make a clan - that is normally for ego-centric freaks. But just try a little harder to be social and make friends who you can play with in the future.
I think it is the social aspect of multiplayer matchmaking that is missing from the gaming world today - and as a result communities are being flooded with faceless trolls and strangers.
If you are playing with a group of friends or acquaintances, you wont have to worry about trolls and jealous idiots ruining your experience.
Best wishes.
Peace.
Sorry Final Sentence but I rather enjoy getting in vehicles as part of BTB. So not “problem solved”. That’s like saying “You think the BS is overpowered? Don’t play Multiplayer!”
I don’t think they should remove vehicle damage, instead re-enable FF. The big downfall of the jealous -Yoinks!- is that they can destroy your vehicle without the risk of betraying you. Enable FF and after a couple of braindead betrayals boot their fat -Yoink!-. Problem solved. One of the main competitive advantages Halo had over COD was FF. It required skill and strategy to eliminate the enemy without killing your teammate.
343 had good intentions with putting this in place, but coupled with JiP it’s too many countermeasures to combat team killing and it ended up creating a bigger issue.
FF should be turned on and the booting system needs to be changed so that you can boot after one team kill. After 5 games straght today of having to deal with players taking out the teams tanks, Warthogs, and snipers, Halo 4 needs a booting system that is harsh. Get booted 5 times in a 24hr period i think should earn players a 60min band followed by a 48hr probation.
I only blow my teamates vehicle up if they either:
A. Have someone who “stole” my Ordinance.
B. Splattered/Betrayed me b/c of their driving.
or
C. Just wanted to block my view so they can get a kill and not me
I say keep the damage but if they fire at it and destroy it with you in it they should get a vote 2 ban for the round. because It does happen alot and sometimes i have had people trash talk me on my own team before a round and when i trash talk back they get mad and follow you around attacking you everywhere you are… i fell there should be a vote 2 kick on occasions like that and it takes everyone on team to accept it … unless they kill then the options comes up.
Am I the only one who misses having friendly fire on at all times in every gametype? You know, like in all the other Halos ever made.
I think they did the friendly fire on vehicles for “realism”. I think it should either be gone, or allow you to actually boot people after they team-kill more than… say, 3 or 4 teammates.
