It’s assumed that he is at the ark and the Forerunner war machine was either under control of Medicant Bias or guarding him. That trailer was more of a concept trailer and not a direct representation of what will happen a part from John-117 going AWOL.
There is no exact date. Blue Team goes to Installation 03 sometime during late january/early febuary in 2558. The Arbiter is seen in the comic at the date of March 3 2558, so him and Locke probably doesn’t go hunting for John-117 any earlier than that. I’ve heared rumors that John-117 has been gone for six months, but there’s nothing solid.
He isn’t necessarily looking for Cortana in the trailer. He’s probably just wearing the chip as a reminder or he’s looking for a way to bring her back.
I really doubt the game will have anything to so with bringing Cortana back. It would diminish her death. I think the chip is only shown in the trailer to dictate Halo 5 will be darker than it’s predecessor.
