Series X Users Should Rethink

It’s not the Xbox One’s fault Infinite is in the state it is. Remember, it’s the one who makes the games. Not the tech.

Where’s this coming from??

Ive never heard a series x user blame the hardware for infinite’s status, but i agree that its a bad argument to make

I think I’ve heard buzzing about how co-op was delayed cause of last-gen consoles but honestly, finding things to blame, isn’t going to make me happier. It’s 32ºC outside, an icecream would make me happier.

EDIT: It might be about the tatanka post asking for that mode to be next gen exclusive. Honestly we don’t even know what it is so it sounds pointless to even complain about it or make requests on it.

At some point they’ll stop supporting the old hardware.

A thread was made where some users make statwments that imied infinites core issues are due to last gen.
Its all really shakey logic though.
The fact is scalling isnt the cause of key engine features being absent from slipspace.
The game probably couldnt do true next gen implementation if it wanted to.
As it stands it appears we have a husk of an engine and im sure the priority right now os putting in the features to allow it to get on track for live service suppport.
Hoepfully sunday will bring some answers.

While I do agree its the devs job to scale their games for the tech its played on, you can only squeeze so much juice from a lemon. Split screen co-op is very likely being delayed further because the xbox one probably can’t handle it. Personally I don’t care at this point that it’s delayed, I would just like for it to release with the removal of vertical black bars when the screen is split.

Halo 2 anniversary in split screen co-op is amazing, it essentially gives two stacked ultra wide displays. Halo 3 and up kill the experience and add black bars. My hope is on the series x version they add at least the option to remove the black bars.

Unless I can physically see what the issues are, I really couldn’t say what’s responsible for what.

All I know is there were missteps that led to a rocky launch for Infinite.

If one console is faster they will have an advantage, but it will also be calculation errors between the systems due to different architecture like CPU/RAM, GPU causing screen tearing and aiming off the place.

One console can draw everthing much faster, at 60 or 120 fps, and the old Xbox One users only get 30 fps.
So there is a big gap between 30 and 120 fps, making the game runs bad for all users.

If you aim on a 30 fps screen, you will have a big disadvantage to 120 fps machines, thats whats causing the desync.
Even between 60/120 fps there will be some dsync and advantage/disadvanteges.

Making the game working in coop between systems will be a pain in the buthole.

If anything, I blame PC users because it’s so much easier to cheat on that platform

And the Series S is widely available by all reports, and a great improvement over an old school xbox.

Yea I’m sure you could make Mass Effect 3 on Xbox original.

What¿???¿

This has what to do with last gen consoles being the target of a speculative (and baseless) post about being the reason Halo Infinite is being “held back”?

I think you’re confused. Actual time and energy was used to ensure that Halo Infinite- the game that barely runs on anything in the first place- somehow runs on some of the worst consoles of last generation.

Was it directly responsible for everything going to hell? No, it wasn’t, you’re right. Poor leadership, studio infighting, COVID-19 and a new engine are to blame for that.

Did the burden of optimizing for inferior units absorb a lot of useful (and limited) time though? Yes, yes it did, and that undoubtedly took some development priority away from the Series X|S and PC clients.

Xbox One - Out of date technology

Xbox Series X - Current technology

Halo Infinite was designed for the limitation parameters of the Xbox Series S and Xbox Series X.
The only Xbox One that comes close to matching those design specs is the Xbox One X, which is pretty much even to the Xbox Series S console in terms of capabilities of running a game smoothly.

The only reason Halo Infinite is on the Xbox One platform is because Scalpers + Pandemic = No one can buy the new consoles fast enough so they had to make it available on outdated consoles.

Worst part is they get the feedback.
