I’m somewhat disappointed at the news that there will be no further optimization of Halo 5 on the Series X. Honestly that would sell the console to me right now. I’m just curious what everyone else’s opinion on this matter is.
I’d mostly only get the series x for Halo infinite and any future halo games. Other than that I’d just wait until I thought I really needed to upgrade from my xbox one.
I agree. I also want to see an optimization, or at least a recognition that they will do one in the future. However, I think I can understand where they are coming from by putting H5 on the back burner. They are currently paying attention to Infinite (which is in development hell) and also MCC, so I’m sure their hands are full. Hopefully we can see an H5 treatment after Infinite + MCC are taken care of for series X.
It’s a big mistake neglecting h5 when infinite is so far away. If anything they should ramp h5 up to keep the hype going and keep people interested in xbox.
agreed, but I think 343 are too busy for Infinite thats the reason I think, otherwise I dont see another reason for no upgrades to Halo 5
Honestly, Halo 5 has stopped being supported years ago at this point. 343i are focusing on MCC & Infinite.
Halo 5 will be affected by Series X’s Auto HDR function which does make the game look great. But I see little point in upscaling a near dead game to 4K60/4K120. However much I’d like to see it it just doesn’t make sense from a developer stand point

Halo 5 dont need it, Retrocompstibility Backwards alredy optimizes the games, the game has a cool framerate and graphics, i prefer a patch for MCC :V

I would disagree. Some anti aliasing, texture updates, and fixing that damn issue where models look like they are running at 25fps in the distance, etc I think would benefit H5 dramatically.
I thought it looked great on the One X update. Auto HDR now with the Series X now. Colors really popped to me last night on my new toy. Maybe a placebo effect?
As someone who doesn’t touch mcc, I’d very much appreciate some kinda optimization. Otherwise I won’t be getting the next console until late next year most likley. Depends when Infinite drops, and how well it’s working.
I understand the focus on MCC and especially Infinite. But I think Halo 5 (in spite of how much people seem to hate the game) should get the same treatment as all the others. It’s still a Halo game, for better or worse. Having the entire catalog available to play, how players want to play them, optimized to the fullest, I think is ideal.
That means PC support too. And an fov slider on console, of course.
And … and … this may sound crazy (but so did Reach being added to MCC) if they really want to make people happy, figure out how patch split screen into Halo 5. I’m sure the series x could handle that, since wasn’t hardware limitations and frame rate the reason is was cut initially? Or was that the excuse?

I think that was the reasoning if memory serves. Some sort of hardware limitation of the XBONE? Either that or something to do with the engine being unstable. I do remember it being a technical prob for no split screen. I just love Halo so much, and I would love to have it all on PC since that is where i spend most of my time. Halo 5 was literally the only reason i even own an XBONE to begin with, and i know that game has some crazy potential if everything was dialed up to 11, visually speaking.
I was hoping to hear, during the Series X release celebrations, about H5 receiving the MCC treatment by being thoroughly overhauled, optimized for Series X|S, & fully brought over to the PC platform w/ cross-platform cross-play capabilities. Disappointed that there was silence on that topic.
