Series X now or wait

Hi everyone, looking to get some advice on what I should do. I recently bought an xbox series X from walmart last week when they were available; however, I ultimately was waiting for a Halo limited edition console. The Series X I bought is coming in today, and I don’t know if I should open it or not. Should I wait until there’s some sort of announcement before opening it? Regardless, if there is a halo limited edition console, I am getting it no matter what! I also will sell my Series X at normal price (not trying to screw people unlike the scalpers). I do have an Xbox One X, so is it even worth opening the Series X? If i were to open it, and a month later a Halo console is announced, is my opened Series X still worth the same value? Appreciate everyone’s time!

I am holding out for a Halo: Infinite-themed Xbox Series X. Hopefully, 343i will announce one soon.

The Halo limited series Series X console won’t exist until the 25 year anniversary. In no way can they design and manufacture a limited series console during the shortages right now.

I was holding out but with how scarce the Series X has been, I seriously doubt we will get a limited console anytime soon.

Got my XSX on Saturday.

I was lucky enough to get mine upon release and it is amazing. just the speeds alone make it worth it. if youre solely a resolution type player then the one x is fine for now but for all the juicy speeds and fps boosts to the full extent the series x is incredible. quick resume is a true game changer my goodness. im like oh i have time to get a snack or take a -Yoink- while this boots up then quick resume say no sir you sit the -Yoink- back down and get back in this -Yoink- we already at the pause screen you turn it off at ready to go son.

I think it depends on if you have any of the games that take advantage of it’s hardware and play them regularly, if not I’d hold.

Hi guys, thanks for all the feedback so far! I play mostly MCC but I did pickup RE Village…played it on my xbox one X but not on Series X…at least yet! So it seems like i should just open this bad boy up?

I would personally just go for the one you have bought. They are hard enough to find at the moment and there has been no Halo Series X confirmed yet. The closer we get to launch (and the other ‘next gen games’), the more difficult it will be to find consoles at all and you may end up without one altogether.

Lol I actually just got mine, went online to update my insider profile for flights and see this topic.
I really would recommend keeping it, from all I hear it’s really a massive upgrade from the X-One. Mainly reducing loading times for current games which will be lovely for RE Village.

I also don’t expect an anniversary console to rise before Infinite’s release and I really think you want to play it on a series X

I doubt I’ll get a limited version if they release one as I’d rather just have a normal black xsx and that’s become quite difficult unless I want to go the scalper route and I’m really holding out from doing so.

I would love to see a green Halo themes Xbox Series X and that is honestly what I am waiting to see if they announce before I just get a plane series x. Our situations are similar so I think it comes down to if you think its going to happen and if you have the patience to see if it does

I had no need for a Series X, but I will definitely get one with the release of Infinite.

If you have your Series X now or on the way I’d just use it. If they announce a Halo Edition (I think it’s unlikely due to global console shortages - getting the console out to people first is more important than releasing special editions).
You can buy a Halo Edition later, like you plan to. Can just sell your other Series X without much hassle or financial loss since there’s high demand.

It’s a great console, experiencing games at their best is great. I had a One X & jumping to a Series X was huge. Can’t wait to see Halo Infinite running on the machine too!

Aye. It’s hard to express how much of a difference it makes. So many games are just better because of the horse power in Series X. It’s a massive upgrade from Xbox One X and I cannot wait to play games built for it from the ground up. OP should open it up imo.

I would just use the series X that u just recieved as no way will they have a limited edition console do to shortages.

I’d open it. You can always resale later. There probably won’t be a Halo Series X|S announced until we get very close to launch. No point in waiting.

I’m waiting since there’s no point for me to get one at the moment.

Series X will probably still be in demand when the Infinite edition comes out.

So you can sell your off Series X and use that cash for that special edition.

I picked up a Series X recently and I’m hyped! I upgraded from the One X and can’t wait to see loading screens disappear. If they release a Halo edition console I’ll also try to pick one up, but I figured to get a SX now just because I want to be ready on launch. With the chip shortage going on I just want to be ready ASAP. Your plan seems pretty sound to me, if a LE console comes out you can resell your current console for probably MSRP (or more).

One thing to note is I didn’t upgrade my TV setup yet, so I’ll have to play at 4K @ 60Hz which is probably fine. For folks looking to maximize the most out of their console be aware a decent TV for the SX will cost ~$800 USD.

I bought a series x on day one and love it. The graphics and higher fps are nice. The loading times are fantastic (world of difference in Destiny 2). But the thing I can’t live without anymore is the quick resume. Being able to jump right back into a forza race or rpg quest after playing some multiplayer is awesome. So if you play a bunch of different games then it is well worth it. I don’t hardly play my gaming pc anymore. I would advise testing it out and see how you like it bc their value isn’t dropping soon. I will also be getting a limited edition in the future if there is one but that could be a while.
