So I just got the series 2 elite controller and my shots are all over the place. I’ve tried messing with my sensitivity, I tried changing the different setting for the thumbsticks and it’s all just making me more frustrated. I play with the recon setup and I was really good at making headshots but now I’m struggling. I was playing with the red sport controller and I was starting to get really accurate with the sniper but that’s completely gone out the window. What can I do?
Sounds like you just need to get more comfortable using the new controller.

give it some time and keep practicing. when you you change something it always takes some time to get use to it. hopefully after some practice you will get back to your normal
If the series 2 is actually more durable than the first Elites, I may get one. I had two Elites, both lost their rubber grips, and had the bumpers snap off, and the joysticks started drifting, all after a couple months. Was not happy about that.
I’ve been using a standard red for almost 2 years now, and it still works perfectly.
I had a slight adjustment period since the controller does feel different in my hand. Im fine with it now.

I honestly don’t like the grip on the series 2. It feels really silky and I feel like my hands are all over the place. I personally really like the sand paper feeling type grip which is what I had on my last controller. I had the hair trigger on bionik on my last one and I just used it for the grip but I can’t find anything similar for the elite

Probably the most foreign feeling controller I have ever played with. I find myself overly thinking about how Im holding it while Im playing which is a big adjustment since I didnt even think about it with my last. One thing thats really been bugging me is my finger keeps you hung the hair trigger lock and then I cant find a comfortable placement for my hand lol

I heard reports that the hair trigger being engaged is what break the bumpers, but I never used them on my 2nd Elite and the bumpers still snapped off at the core after a couple months.

I don’t even have them on, it’s the button to adjust the hair trigger that drives me nuts

You could always go back to whatever worked for you prior. personally I prefer the elite 2 over the 1 and standard xbox controllers always felt cheap and disposable.

I tried hahah! I screwed myself. My muscle memory is all over the place. I think I just need to do some hardcore 1v1 with someone thats really good so it makes me work harder to get my aim back
Red Sport? Is that just a default controller with a different skin? If so, the elite series 2 has stick tension customization. I forget which setting it has as default but there’s three settings for it: elite, default XB1, and 360. I believe the middle setting would have the same tension as your other controller so try that. If that doesn’t help, try the other two settings.

It’s the sport controller which feels a little different than the default controller, the tension feels like it’s right in the middle of the first and second setting so I put it on the first cause the 2nd was just too much

Aw that sucks. Honestly all you can do then is pick the tension that feels the best and stick with it, eventually it’ll feel natural.
I started with the default controller and then got the elite series 1 when it came out which has a looser tension. When the elite series 2 was announced I was hyped because there was tension customization. Once I got it I had been using the elite series 1 since 2015 and once I got the series 2 and increased the tension my aim felt really weird. I just reverted back to the loose tension with the high stick because that’s what I had gotten comfortable with.

Did it take a while for your aim to get right again? I used to be able to hit them pretty much every shot whether it was a body shot or headshot but now I’m missing about half

No I just switched back to the loose tension because that’s what I had gotten used to after using the elite 1 for years.
Your hands and mind are accustomed to your old gear, just gotta play more and you’ll get used to it!
You need to change the stick calculation settings to true diagonals. By default the series 2 comes with the setting set to radial, but all the other controllers(including the series 1 elite) seem to be using true diagonals. I was having a hard time too, and I started cross checking my settings against my old elite, and noticed that I had radial unchecked. So I tried axis independent and true diagonals on the new controller. Once I switched to true diagonals I could immediately tell that it felt like my other controllers.

I’ve since gone back to my elite 1 all the things I thought I’d like about the elite 2, turns out I reverted back to tge same settings but I prefer the elite 1 feel, go figure and expensive experiment
Followed this topic by accident, glad I did. Helpful replies for potential elite 2 buyers
When I got the series 1 for Halo 5 a year and half ago, It was a very drastic difference from the blue controller I was using. Not only stick tension, but the weight, the grips and especially relearning to use the paddles proved most difficult (With thrust on top right and sprint on top left, bottom paddles not used).
With a little time, it clicked, and I found the paddles(since I don’t claw) were a big enough advantage to outweigh my discomforts.
That being said I dislike the grips to this day and thought they should be optional from day 1 series 1. Since my Ms points are looking promising(thanks Lethal Q for recommending) I plan to get a series 2 by next holiday and am not excited about MORE grips.
The stick tension is what I would be concerned about the most, I do believe that is more of a preference and there’s not a best tension. So that no matter how much you try to get used to it, it might bother you. Interesting to know there’s and adjustment now.
Good luck, sorry for the long post.
