I know this seems relatively minor, but one of the biggest gripes I had with Halo 5 was the Ground Pound function being tied to the same button as Melee. IdI’have preferred if Groubd Pound was somehow done differently.

I’ve found myself in plenty enough situations where I inadvertently leave the ground (weird thrust on a rock) whilst being in a CQC fight, only to instead of melee my opponent, I’d start charging a point blank Ground Pound, from like 2 feet off the ground.
This also presented a problem in H5 as well with midair assassinations, because for SOME reason, default melees with both players in midair doesn’t really trigger an Airsassination, but sometimes you can be close enough and HOLD the button and it’ll do it. Problem is, 99% of this time you just charge a ground pound right behind the guy.
I’d like to suggest if Ground Pound is indeed carried over to Infinite, that we can choose a different Hold action for it to a button other than melee. Tbh, I could live with having a hold function for my grenade button or Thruster to start charging the move. I feel in general it would be something welcomed as an alternate toggle in the game.
Might not be a bad idea… But it would make controls even more complex. This said, we don’t know if ground pound is even coming back. I for one am mixed on it. I just hate how it has such a huge AOE damage wise right now.
You have to hold the melee to perform an assassination. Regarding the topic though, I think holding the melee button was the best choice. If you have a bad habit of holding melee even though you only need to tap, that’s not really the developers problem, but it would be cool to be able to map it to something else if you want to. I remember in the beta i think ground pound was holding right stick? So you had to hold the stick while aiming where you want to gp, that was horrible. Honestly though I’d rather there be no ground pound, but if there is, nerf it.

i hate it also when its the sprint button and you wane do assassinations its harder but what about chance the ground pound not with the jump button?
that if you jump and hold the jump button from the Xbox controle its think A that if you keep A press down it go’s for the ground Pound then its easyer for the assassinations to make then?

My main thing comes to being able to have completely customized controls. Not just buttons, but also hold and tap functions of buttons, so none of this is even an issue. This day and age of gaming PC allows near-full keybindings, so why can’t the same games on console get something similar?

i not like to have a customize option for the controls but if there move the ground pound button to holding A button then its easyer to use it since you need to jump first before you wane use ground pond and holding then the A button for xbox controlers is thinking much easyer.

if i read on diffrend threads like about sprint,ground pound or other abilities and the same people post on there its need to be remove all things and going back to the old school way’s and keep posting that on other threads then its a easy replay for me i give then from go play MCC since there have there old school way’s there and if there not like it its in the new halo series then why there keep posting it if this for a exemple is a disscusion about separeate ground pound and to see post’s from it needs to be remove all things and become old school again.
then you get that type replays on it.
things in halo reach halo 4 and halo 5 are not perfeckt.
and if there keep chancings like the sprint that you now see 3 diffrend way’s off it and maybe its still not good but there not stop changing that its right.

I feel your missing the point entirety. Everything you said a person could reverse it back to you.
People don’t want Halo 1-3. People have said this COUNTLESS times. For them, they’re are sick of the advanced movement system that in there opinion has ruined Halo. They haven’t said they hate every single thing from Halo 5 either. For example most people praise forge and custom browser. People who don’t like the advanced movement system or spartan abilities or whatever you want to call them just don’t like that style of play and feel like it’s not Halo. A lot are not against having things like thrusters or a double jump or whatever too.
You make it sound like people hate every single thing from Halo 5. Sure, some do, but most recognize it has done certain things really well.
I suggest you read some of the threads on here from people who don’t like Spartan abilities or the advanced movement system and see what else they have to say. Most have very good arguments as to why. You might not agree and that’s fine, but they have every right to keep campaigning for the type of Halo game that they want.
This aside, this is not what the thread is about so I suggest we end it here.

I would say it is perfectly in topic and the perfect tread for it frankly. I mean, we don’t know anything about Hi’s gameplay mechanics and as such saying it would be better not to have AMM altogether is a valid point to have - for now. Otherwise OP could have made this post in the H5G tread in first place.
Also I completely agree with Karim’s feeling here. I’m really sick and tired about this non-discussion point, it’s starting to get on my nerves too. Just saying “go play the other game” is such an infantile manner to discard on opinion, it’s borderline inflammatory to say the least! Can’t we have civil discussion without getting on each other throats? The community on waypoint is split, that’s nothing new and it is going to stay this way even after Hi releases - classic gameplay or not. There are always going to be widely different opinions on this matter, we’ve to accept this.
