Sentinels or Prometheans?

Do you think we’ll see the prometheans again or sentinels
or both

I want both. Sentinels are a given since it’s a Halo ring and Sentinels are part of the Infinite toy line. As for the Prometheans, I feel like with some minor tweaks they’d be just fine. Contrary to popular belief, I never really saw the gameplay problems people usually bring up. At the least they were no more annoying than Halo 2 Brutes or Drones. Also, it’d be nice to give the Knights some closure. Millions of people got turned into them at New Phoenix. Millions of men, women, and children. I know the community has a “Get rid of it!” attitude (only to them complain when the thing that’s gotten rid of isn’t in the next game), but let’s at least give some narratives a proper conclusion.

If I had to choose one I’d pick sentinels. To me they stylistically fit better in universe.

I don’t hate Prometheans, but they are generally a pain to fight for the wrong reasons. The design of the Knights should really be commended. In a world where Star Trek aliens where a dude in a mask and weird gloves counts as alien enough the Knights are a breath of fresh air.

I would love for both to be back, and it’s likely that at the very least the Sentinels will return as they were created to be basically a defense system and maintenance workers on the Halo rings unless I’m getting my lore completely wrong lol. The promethean game design in Halo 4 was incredibly annoying and just felt kind of spammy. The Promethean Dogs and the watchers felt really annoying since they just dashed around and were kinda hard to hit. The prometheans got a little better in Halo 5 although I still felt like the teleporting thing they did was a bit much. I agree that the Knight design is really good, and I loved how you had to fight them in Halo 5. Hitting the two weak points on the back to blow off the backpack things to kill the Knight was definitely a step up from Halo 4 where you killed a knight by pumping a bunch of bullets into them.

Personally I would like both but not in a complete amount. Sentinels should be the main forrunner enemy/ally that you find with prometheans being in their current place in the lore, with out their leader they have joined different factions just like any other group ranging from different covenant groups to differant human groups. So they should be rather rare. That said Crawlers I want them back.

Seriously Crawlers are the one promethean that I like, as they are a swarm enemy similar to the grunts and well the ability to fire from walls and angles we can’t normally see or think about made them really fun to fight especially their sniper versions.

That said I really hope they add more scentinals I mean there are so many in the lore and well We have one from halo wars confirmed and other then that we don’t know what is appearing.

Both but with some changes. This is gonna be long so buckle in.
Sentinels return as they are with the option to combine a la ghosts of onyx to form enforcers or even a redesigned phaeton that yes you can board. Prometheans also assemble and spawn via a swarm that builds them as we fight.

The Prometheans take the 4 approach of supporting knights. But knights retain their 5 bulk and limb loss.
Obviously they are redesigned to look more like classic Sentinels and monitors.

Knights have a light rifle type or incineration canon type.
The LR type has its blade melee telegraphed straight line teleport, the IC type uses a grav hammer arm and is built for anti tank with a telegraphed teleport jump and ground pound.

Watchers(1) still exist and use shields to guard any Knight that it is connected to via a hard light umbilical cord.
“Speakers”(2) a watcher variant use a push back “screams” and can give a damage boost to knights.
“Listeners”(3) can camo knights and deflect grenades.
Now each watcher type only counters one part of the triangle of weapons, melee and grenades.
Allowing for more varied combat and player agency.
Leaving these active to revive a Knight is now a risk reward system.
Killing one while in the revival animation drops a power up

  1. Overshield 2. Damage boost 3. Camo. Each is readily distinguishable and colour coded, a hologram denotes when and what variant is carried by a knight.

Soldiers now come as binary snipers who teleport after shots you can opt to aim for them or where the hologram shows they will be next. they can send crawlers to push you from cover,
The suppressor types stay near to knights sometimes jumping on grenades or acting as body shields.
If you take out a knight’s limb it can scream like in 5 for a one shot head shot opportunity but this will cause a near-by soldier to dismantle and replace the lost limb and health.
and a “new dead space shotguner” marshel they move slow like a roman Legion in front of knights but if they get close drop turrets and try to rush you.

Crawlers come in 3 types
Alpha: leads a pack in an organised manner to pincer the player. Has a suppressor
Beta: is on the flanks of each pack. Uses bolt shot. If singled out and backed into corner enters a telegraphed charged shot lunge animation.
Grunt: no weapon just melee.
If the alpha is taken out the pack goes into a wall running disorganised frenzy and attack independently.
Leaving packs whole can work to your advantage if you have a spnkr or fuel rod or enough range to pick off most the herd with a ranged weapon.

Promethean Sentinels
Essentially halo2 ranger elites but with a soldier like appearance with personal bubble shields and Promethean Sentinel beams.
they can turn crawlers into Sentinels and their jet(antigrav)packs can be shot off to make them grounded.
if they take enough damage in air to lose all limbs they convert into one of the watcher trio.

All prometheans now explode and have electricity feedback when killed and damaged.
Headshots cause the composer effect they have now to make it a visual reward.

Also to have moments where knights lose their orange glow and turn blue/green and “cry” as they recognise people from their lives on new alexandria would be amazing. Adding some depth to the faction and makes killing the Prometheans more weighted.
Imagine a Knight trying to wake up a corpse or even defend certain marines from banished or the bodies from being flood infected.
The screams having faint modulated speech under it to remind us what they really are and who they were. Perhaps some drop “memory fragments” if you touch them you hear moments of dialogue from their prior lives as humans.
prometheans have way more potential than banished in my opinion.
Warbrand2
What do you mean by prometheans current place in the lore having lost their leader?
From what we know now didact is still around and cortana has taken control of the domain amd by extension at least a portion of the prometheans.
I don’t understand how the constructs would suddenly have free will to pick factions.

Didact was killed in one of the books or comics that released after halo 4, as for cortana taking control of the domain that might have control of most of them but you have to remember the Prometheans where not connected to it originally, only being connnected to it when the didact came back.

Sentinels yes.
Both Aggressors and Enforcers.

Prometheans only if the Flood are in the game.
Otherwise, what was the point of introducing them as the Forerunner weapon to combat the Flood, then never have them face off against each other?
But even then they’d need some major redesigns, both in terms of gameplay as well as visuals.

However, if there aren’t any Flood in Infinite (which is entirely possible), then there’s no point in putting in that much work to bring the Prometheans back either.
I’d rather have them focus on enemies that we know have the possibility to be fun to fight instead of something that might still fall flat a third time.
Goodbye and good riddance.

I’ll only accept the prometheans if they get the same kind of overhaul the brutes got from halo 2 to halo 3. They need to be fun to fight, not annoying teleporting tanky -Yoink- like they are in 5. They need to be limited enemies, if they’re going to be present at all.

I would have made them like specialized small teams, not a swarming enemy. If prometheans are on the field, they should stand out as a significant threat and hold a high priority on your ‘to-kill’ list. Fighting them should be special, like when you have run-ins with hunters. They should never have been treated like common fodder.

I personally want the sentinels just for nostalgia.

I think that if 343 were to change their artstyle and gameplay in the right way, Prometheans wouldn’t really be Prometheans anymore. They would just be humanoid Sentinels that was a part of a different faction. So I’m gonna vote Sentinels because the Prometheans would basically just become the same thing but with a bad attitude.

Both would be nice

As people say, sentinel’s are added to the ring for all the construction and repair needs and stuff.

If the Harbinger happens to be the didacts, the Prometheans could very well join in on the fun.

Sentinels for sure. More so if it means that the Sentinel Beam is coming back.

For Prometheans the only ones I want back are Knights from Halo 5 (NOT Halo 4). They are more fun to fight in 5 because they have weak points on arms and the back that you can shoot, making them better than being pure bullet sponges in H4.

Sentinels most likely. And hopefully that’s it. I think one of the major blunders of H4/5 was taking the mystery away from the forerunners. The prometheans are a chore to fight and not satisfying. Never liked the Beatle design of the knights and the random teleporting to be specific.

I want to see the Sentinels coming back in the upcoming Halo Infinite. It will be great to see the Sentinels teaming up with Master Chief in the new Halo video game.

Sentinels with what we know about Zeta Halo

Didact wasn’t killed in the next 72 hours he fell through a slip space rift.
It was the halo equivalent to 90s spiderman the animated series portals that appear just before someone is about to die and wisks them away for a later arc.
343i have confirmed he is still active in the milkyway.

True but the entire remaining Promethean force was under didacts control once he was activated and since she took the domain from him it is logical she took most the warrior constructs in the process.

I enjoyed the promeatheans and would like both. My only real complaint about the promeatheans were the soldiers incessant teleporting. Like chill for half a second so I can stun you.

Why not both? The Prometheans are basically 343’s baby—their replacement enemy for the Flood. I love Sentinels, and can’t wait to see some [hopefully] friendly ones. But if 343 scraps the Prometheans in favor of something like the Flood, it’d be a real bummer.
