The sentinel beam is flat out terrible, its so weak that if you’re in a gunfight against someone with it, all you have to do is strafe a little and there’s no way it’ll kill you. Also, i dont know if this is just me but this thing is hella rare. I hardly have any, i never get it out of packs, and it sucks so it’s not like should be rare at all in the first place. This thing needs to be stronger in some way maybe more range or extra damage.
Then there’s the anti-air wraith, this thing needs more range and more damage to air vehicles, at the moment banshees and phaetons are essentially immune to it because of how they can evade, I’d say that banshees are a bigger threat to the AA wraith than it is to them. The wasp is the only air vehicle that the AA wraith can destroy effectively. I do like the turret though, slow-firing and strong so being a passenger is worth it.
What do you guys think about the current power of the AA wraith and the Sentinel Beam, because I’m calling for a buff.
The AA Wraith’s design flaw is that it shoots slow moving giant Fuel Rods at things. They’re easily noticeable and therefore able to be evaded. The easiest way to take down an AA Wraith is to be out of its lock on range to begin with, which a Phaeton can easily do.
The Banshee can flip endlessly, and each flip cancels out the tracking ability of the AA Wraith’s shots. Also, their maximum speed is faster than the velocity of these shots, so if they can’t out flip them, they can out run them.

I haven’t used it in WZFF but judging on it’s name it needs to be more viable for destroying air vehicles because right now I really don’t think it’s living up to it’s name very well

Can agree. I don’t think there has ever been a Halo game where the Sentinel Beam was a viable MP weapon (aside from Halo 2’s blue beam variant, but I’m not sure if that was in multiplayer). And I don’t count the Focus Rifle from Reach because while it had similarities, it was inherently a different weapon designed to combine features of the Beam Rifle and Sentinel Beam.

Uh, I remember the Halo 3 Sentinel Beam being hella strong.
That said, I’ve yet to use the Sentinel Beam or AA Wraith in H5.

It’s not the strength of the vehicle, it’s the willpower of the pilot

Agree. H3 Sentinel Beam was pretty nice. The H5 Sentinel Beam is weak, I think I have only ever gotten clean up kills with it.

The Halo 3 sentinel beam was never really in the multiplayer, the only time I remember using it was when forged maps were released to accompany the “Bungie vs the World” event. And to be honest, it was pretty awful in Halo 3. It was useful against zombies and it was useful in the campaign but not so much against online players. It’s been a while so I may be incorrect.

This is odd, I remember the sentinel beam in Halo 3 being weak… maybe not as bad as the one in Halo 5 but it couldn’t beat the plasma rifle if I’m remembering correctly (although it did beat the AR). Its been many years, I could definitely be wrong.

AA Wraith is good for what it needs to be good for. Now I do agree that the sentinel beam sucks complete -Yoink-.

Ya sentinel beam is useless in PvP but it does have some uses in forge maps and custom games. And the AA Wraith is good if used right. And will do some good damage against the default and Sword variants without a wheelman pilot.
Overall I’d rather them be in the game (personally I think the AA Wraith is fine for it’s uses) than it not. It has a lot of uses other than WZ and it’s variants.
Except for against highly skilled pilots, the AA Wraith is pretty good at taking down air vehicles; especially if you start getting the shots off when they aren’t aware or better yet are engaged in combat with your ally’s air vehicles. As others pointed out, it’s also spectacular to use in WZ Firefight.
The Sentinel Beam I really think should be toned down to level 3, because at level 4 it’s just too costly for its limited use. I could call an “uncommon” whiplash which is already massively more effective than anything the Safeguard could ever do, or I could use a Blaze of Glory, a Blood of Suban, or a Void’s Tear… At 4, it’s just not as appealing as the other items at that level for the damage it puts out, even against light vehicles. I wouldn’t bring it down to 2 though, but it’d be interesting to see how that’d play out. Disrupting people who call in Carbines and countering Warthogs?
Maybe they’ll put out some variants of it later on, which won’t help the base weapon much but it’d make its lineage more appealing (The Plasma Turret is forever awaiting its chance to receive some variant love)
