When I send users private messages, the message I send them does not show up in my Sent Items menu. This happens whether I reply to messages in my Inbox or create a new message.
It’s because of a stupid setting that users have to change to accept messages from people that aren’t their “buddies.”
It doesn’t show up in your sent folder because technically it wasn’t sent to them due to their inbox preferences blocking the message.
They need to set it to ‘receive from all’ or you need to become buddies with them.
The fact that it doesn’t appear in your sent folder is a useful way to check if it actually reached their inbox or not, but I really think the system could be improved.
It should prevent you from selecting them as a recipient in the first place if they’re not actually going to be able to receive it. It’s very annoying to spend time typing out a message and sending it only to find it never really got sent.
That is pretty lame.
