Sensor/Watch towers

Who here actually uses the sensor towers and watch towers? I feel like they could be considered useful at times, but I rarely would want to put once of those up over literally any other type of tower. Maybe I am alone and players do use them but I feel like I never see anyone put them up.

What would help players use them more? Maybe if they had upgrades available to them or just better passive bonuses?

If you have siege turrets or need more vision for your blisterbacks/kodiaks.

Also in some maps it allows you to see the elevated terrain at the back of your base so that it can’t be exploited.

For example, in that map where the sentinels come out every few minutes on the power nodes; the expansion plots are near a circular elevated terrain easily exploitable, by putting a watchtower you gain sight over it so your turrets can shoot up.

I don’t use them though.

Watch Towers are good to have. I have actually found more use for them over regular turrets. Even when I have my base defenses built to maximum level, the base turrets (even with all 4 attacking) do little damage. At least with Watch Towers I have a better idea of when they are coming for my base.

What if they provided a defense/attack bonus for any units within its vision? This could not only help a little against rush attacks but also give you a little boost to protect your base?

So it will increase the range that the blisterbacks/kodiaks and turrets can attack? I thought that would be the case but I felt like when I built the towers I never saw much of a difference in attack range of stuff. Maybe I just need to test this out a little more.

But like you said, you don’t use them. So I want to know what could be changed so you would use them more often? I know they are useful in certain aspects just not useful enough to see them every game. I think there could at least be something done to them.

I think that would be a great idea!

For sure! It only adds an extra 20’ or so? If your gonna use up a valuable turret slot it should add like 100’ IMO. Maybe not far enough to see the next closest base but right on the edge.

It doesn’t increase the range of turrets or units, it increases the line of sight.

They did receive a detection radius buff in the most recent patch update.
-I believe it said radius was increased from 50 to 90, so nearly double the range

They are useful in some cases but if I need line of sight I’ll just send a sniper or air unit to scout for my arty

putting at least one on your base helps tremendously with defense. If you combine it with two siege towers at the ack you can deal some good damage to any advancing army. I had an infantry rush fail when my siege started opening up, he fell back, giving me enough time to counter
