Selecting Map/Gametype

In Halo 3 when we entered MM we were given a map/gametype but we had an option to Veto this map/gametype. I rather enjoyed this style of picking maps. In Halo: Reach when choosing a map/gametype we were given 3 options; this carried over to Halo 4.

How would you like to choose map/gametypes in Halo 5: Guardians?

I personally would like it to be the Veto system or only have 2 options available to choose from.

I prefer the Veto system from H3. Even though you got maps you didn’t want sometimes, it broke up the monotony. It gets boring always playing the same stuff, even if it’ a map I like. The voting problem is that people always vote for the same thing. Not to mention that if the voting is tied the front map will always win making it so one team is playing on a map they don’t even want, despite the tied vote.

Yeah I’ll have to go with H3 veto system for the variety.

To be honest, this one is hard to call, because while I can support to some extent less map vote options to make it so more maps get played… I feel like in playlists with a lot of modes like action sack, this may get even more annoying than repetitive maps, in that the your favorite gametype might only show up once every five or six games, which for me, would be enough to get me to leave that playlist, and maybe even halo for the day, just due to boredom.

I believe thats the main reason the reach/4 system of voting should stay, it’s not really having a lot of maps to pick from thats the thing, its having access to all the gametypes in a playlist without sifting through three or four games you dont like just to play the ones you like once or twice.

The Veto System. What I like about it was you were forced to try new things. In Reach/4, everyone just chose Team Slayer with non-community maps. In Halo 3, if you chose to veto, you had the chance to play something that wasn’t your standard game.

It also promoted experimentation. For example, I’d never consider playing Oddball when I got the game. Why should I? I could be playing Slayer. But in Halo 3, I was forced into a game, and it was pretty fun. Had everyone just chosen Team Slayer on Guardian, I might not have opened my mind to new things. To me, Halo has lost this touch, and I feel a return to the veto system might be beneficial.
