Segregation of the community because of greed

Thanks to this double XP BS, which is only available to Americans, the community seems to have turned on itself within a day.

Just wanted to congratulate Microsoft and 343 on this, because there’s nothing like an awkward, rocky month of waiting where the forums are just Americans versus everyone else.

Great job there.

I think the Double EXP is just stupid overall, I hate it how everyone needs lame and unfair gimmicks to play a game… Hooray for all the fat kids who buy all the disgusting food and get extra EXP!

Halo 3’s double exp weekends were great, and fair. Everyone could play at the statistically most popular hours to gain double exp, and a variety of gametypes so even if you didn’t like one you could play the next.
In halo 4, where ranking up matters for unlocking the items you want to use, I think it’s annoying that we don’t get the chance to do it in half as many matches like the americans have.

Let’s face it, there’s going to be at least one huge, rich american that will farm all of these things and get 1-130 without a single non-double xp match. And they will be praised by 343.

I already have 4, 24 packs. Why? Because i love halo, and i don’t even drink soda, and i solely just want to get the Light Rifle to use the limited edition console skin on it

Let the fools bicker.
I understand that double the experience can make a fairly large impact but when the day is over… it’s just a game.

> I already have 4, 24 packs. Why? Because i love halo, and i don’t even drink soda, and i solely just want to get the Light Rifle to use the limited edition console skin on it

Exactly. And when I come against you, despite playing an equal amount of time, equal skill and equal knowledge of the map and gametype, you will beat me.
Why? Because you had the chance to level up faster that I won’t get.

It’s nothing personal, but I think it’s unfair at the most basic of levels.
And because of this, look how much America hate has appeared on the forums in the last few hours? People are pissed off, and rightly so, and that has made this forum a very unpleasant place to be for the last month leading up to Halo 4.

> In halo 4, where ranking up matters for unlocking the items you want to use, I think it’s annoying that we don’t get the chance to do it in half as many matches like the americans have.

That’s my point exactly. If exp wasn’t vital to unlocking things in the game, i wouldn’t care too much, but because 343 have put this system in place where you NEED exp to get weapons, specialisations, armours etc. They have automatically put people in the US at a distinct advantage from day 1.

If they did a worldwide promotion, i’d be fine with it, but this way it’s just unfair.

If we all used that logic then we’d be living under communism…

I cant agree with you because the sandbox will be balanced, and the bulletin states that you get loves weapons like the DMR, and BR very early on.
But yes the American/European arguement is kinda annoying, but being american i cant complain.

And to the people saying ‘If you aren’t American, you won’t play Americans’. That simply isn’t true.

Not only because of the way halo matches players, but because I have American friends (Who will no doubt be able to out-level me within a few days), which means when I play with them, I’m definitely playing Americans.
In that situation, where everyone in a match has a notable advantage over you, Europeons are essentially being punished for not being American.

Or, we could let them argue like they will anyways and ignore them

I live in Canada, I’m not too sure if these double experience promotions are happening here and I couldn’t care less. I don’t like doritos, I don’t like mountain dew so I wont bother buying them for a simple experience boost.

Shall I start complaining that it’s not fair that coca cola and sun chips aren’t doing this as well? No because it would resolve nothing and as I said. It’s a game.

Point taken…I could care less too.

So when I play with three of my American friends, and we’re all at the same skill, all played around the same time, and we’re playing against people who played the same time, yet they have double my rank, meaning more items and perks to use, it’s balanced?
Or am I just meant to say ‘Sorry guys, won’t be playing with you anymore, cause I get owned every time I play with you and watching you all level twice as fast as me even though I do an equal share of the work is just too frustrating’.

Online gaming has the chance to bring people together, not create these barriers and segregation between one nationality and another.

I don’t care about it being for Amercians only but I really don’t like the whole promotion thing. I think that everyone should have the same xp no matter what. Silly marketing campaigns that just want more and more money.

The game ships with playlists that have preset loadouts to try out everything and different combinations before you unlock them. No need to get heated about things like that mate

343i has obviously though of things like this and the possible outcomes it all just comes down to what playlist you decide to play.

If this community gets torn up by few days of Double exp, Soda and Chips, then so be it. You’re right, the community does get divided because of greed, but that’s because some people outside US are crying that somebody else gets something and you don’t.

Exactly same thing with the Fotus(?) helmet, people are jealous over a petty thing as piece of armor. Grow up.

I’m from Europe, Finland to be exact, we don’t even get any pre-order bonuses if I’m correct, and I don’t mind. All I care I get to play a sequel on one of my favorite game franchises, and enjoy it.

I suppose the big question is, if a player earned on average 2.5KXP/game and earned the max 200 games for a total of 1MXP, what IS 1MXP worth on the progression scale?

How many ranks does the 500KXP actually boost?

There is a maximum amount you can use, I thought it was between 100/200 matches.
But it’s still unfair…

Oh, don’t get me wrong, i’m not a fan of the whole promotion at all, but if they’re going to do it they should do it fairly.

And at the guy above, 200 is the limit for double exp matches. Still, that’s 200 more than i’m ever going to get.

Am I the only person who hasn’t seen any of what the OP is talking about on the forums?
