Segregation of players based on mic usage

Something I’ve wanted to see since Halo 3 is the ability to not party with people who don’t have mics. Getting stuck with a team who can’t communicate makes multiplayer frustrating. If you’re in a 4-man party with your friends and you all have mics, you can steam roll almost every match because the other team is at such a disadvantage.

I would like to see this feature in a future patch, as well as ability to sort based on the quality of the internet connection.

Right, so people like me whose mics don’t work but still want to work as a team get shoved in with players that don’t seem to care about team play. Sorry, but it won’t work

> Right, so people like me whose mics don’t work but still want to work as a team get shoved in with players that don’t seem to care about team play. Sorry, but it won’t work

But see, there’s the problem. If you don’t have a mic, then you don’t have the ability to communicate with your team and are putting them at a disadvantage.

I’m not saying it has to be a mandatory filter, but an option for the people who don’t like getting paired with people who don’t have mics.

glad i keep players muted

So the fact that I can’t communicate with other players means I can’t listen to callouts or answer cries for support or transport for flag carriers? Logic; you’re missing it

And like I said, it’s not a mandatory filter. You would still be able to pair with people who have mics that don’t mind other players not having them.

Personally, I’d rather have a teammate with a mic than one without. You can get a good quality mic for <$7, so it’s not like you’re going to have to drop an entire paycheck on one.

Last bump

Neat idea for those who want to chat but I keep everyone muted. I’m tired of hearing squeaky kids singing or knowing everything about my mother

If you want to put up with only 12 year olds that scream racist and homophobic insults non-stop, by all means be our guest. I’m glad for the lack of mic users in this game. Xbox Live has the reputation it does for a reason, and I think that is why fewer and fewer people across the multiplayer games on this system are plugging in their mics.

If you don’t have a mic, then you’re unable to communicate with your team. If you want to be part of a team that works together, then buy a mic, it’s as simple as that.

I’d definitely love to see this in the game. XBox games used to have so many players talking until party chat.
I would love to be able to talk to people who aren’t necessarily my friends as it is definitely great for teamwork.

And to the guy who was complaining saying it’s unfair. Why? This would just be an optional filter, nothing would change by default so why should it matter to you?

Not everybody wants to chat with 12 year old racists. The xbox community has proven countless times it is too immature for voice chat.

Mind you, I say that but I’ve not come across many people that use the mic for gameplay.

If I’m going to get a mic, I might as well get decent headset that won’t decide to break at the slightest problem.

The mute button would still exist you know…

Why mute everyone individually when I can just leave my headset unplugged and not hear anything to begin with? I don’t want to struggle to find matches just because some people can’t handle my choice to be quiet.

I’ve noticed a drop in mic users as well, and I’m pretty sure that’s because no one sells the XBL+headset package anymore. In the Halo 2 days, EVERYONE had a mic unless they broke it. Halo 3 had about a 50% mic usage. Halo Reach had 15-25%. Halo 4 has 1-5% :frowning:

That’s probably why I haven’t been too bothered about not getting a new headset.

Struggle to find matches? Seriously? The number of people not using mics far outweigh the people using them. Hence this issue. You’ll find matches no problem.

Why is it the general assumption (and i mean almost every forum or youtube comment), People seem to think that users with Mics are 12 (never ceases to amaze me when EVERYONE says 12) and are racist crapholes. from my experience on Xbox live ive met more cool older people and long time devoted halo fans than “12 year olds”. Sure i run into some racist people my ( My Black accent is usually an attacking point ) but it is nver as bad as some describe

I LOVE using a mic even when im not in a party, and teaming up with a communicating team sounds awesome.
