Seems the community is split. More negatives sadly

I liked the game. Trendy or whatever, maybe its best for the direction of the story. Maybe mission-on-mission isn’t the best idea, and what we needed was something like this. Not entirely sure, but I am open minded, and I have my hopes.

Its still too little to enjoy as well as to hate, we shouldn’t be so judgmental on it yet.

I disagree. This game is a tactical FPS shooter at its core. Point A to B mission design (with some welcomed pseudo open-world level designs like AotCR, The Ark, etc. for variety) is where this game franchise shines. Open world just doesn’t make sense for Halo. It didn’t make sense for Gears either – generally speaking I don’t think people were pleased with the final product in Gears 5.

This is coming from someone who isn’t universally against open world games either. One of my favorite set of Xbox games growing up was KOTOR and KOTOR II. I think one of the greatest games of all time was RDR II (talking about campaign). I put hundreds of hours into that game’s campaign by just taking my time, enjoying the environment/soaking up the world, and getting 100% completion of all the solo achievements. Open world worked really well for that game - it made sense. Call me unoriginal or oldschool, but I just don’t see that having an appropriate place in the Halo franchise (at least core games).

I am curious how much of an open world element there will really be and how it impacts story pacing. Is there going to be an ODST element here where certain locations load you into “proper” missions? Asking this primarily from a speedrunning perspective…

Not according to its Halo update. It states it actually is open world. We dont know how it works, but it probably will work different than Rpgs.

I had very mixed reactions to the Infinite demo. The biggest problem was the cartoonish/low detailed gameplay graphics. Pretty much just a straight rip from Legos/Mega Blocks. I would like an open-world environment, and I’m glad the Brutes/Banished return as enemies. I hope they iron out the issues and greatly improve the gameplay graphics quality. I want to play a Halo game, not something from Mega Blocks.

The community has been split since 343i took over.
It has never harmed the growth of the franchise, though.
Games keep coming, books keep coming, a live action series is still in production, and so on and so forth.
So yeah, I’m neither worried nor annoyed in the slightest by those kind of people
who aren’t able to offer conctructive criticism and simply spread negativity.
On the contrary, I’m pretty excited and looking forward for the second half of the year.

It’s mostly negative because they like to complain. I’m liking Halo Infinite so far but didn’t want to type here on the forums, but I’m gonna have to start doing it just to let 343i know there are people who are happy with the direction they’re taking Halo in :>

I think a lot of people are having a knee-jerk reaction to the demo based on incomplete information. We don’t know how old the demo build is…the lacklustre textures/lighting might be fixed already. People are dismissing the game way too early.

Aside from the graphics, which are taking a hit on all fronts, Waypoint really seems to be the only place that’s overwhelmingly negative. Reddit and YouTube seem to be pretty positive surprisingly. I started out not liking it as well but it’s really grown on me so hopefully more people give it another shot. Only main concerns are the obnoxious shield recharge effect and the story. I believe the graphics will improve drastically.

Yeah that it´s what Halo is about, if they wanted to do some RPG they should had tolds us early
And i bet there is only 2 or 3 secondary missions or aleatory encounters in the whole big -Yoink- map, just like gears of war 5

Quite frankly if you look at the Halo videos they uploaded today on YouTube you’ll see a big amount of positive support in the forms of likes and comments. It appears the negative people are just the vocal bunch.

It’s all fair criticism to dislike the game so far, but keep in mind vocal people aren’t necessarily the majority
