In this pic Halo 5: Guardians Empire map pic it shows some players running. Interesting, it looks like the one in the back is using a Light Rifle. Are you excited to see the Forerunner weapons returning, with the possibility of new ones coming in?
Its not exactly surprising that they return, I just hope they give them more unique mechanics to both new and returning weapons.
Definitely looks like a Light Rifle to me. Good catch. Now we’ve dropped Loadouts in favour of on-map weapons, I’m hoping the Forerunner weapons function as semi-power weapons, rather than the reskins we saw in Halo 4.
darn. i wasnt a fan of those at all.
having more of the same weapons in different skins is watering down the experience for me. i would rather have unique weapons instead of a forerunner dmr or sniper or whatever.
Very nicely spotted! I’m going to assume that the Light Rifle will be more powerful/unique this time around, since it won’t be a starting weapon. Since it’s a map pick-up, they can take a few more risks. I look forward to seeing how it works in Halo 5!
I get more of a scattershot impression. But either way, I liked the LR in Halo 4. It was one of a very small handful that didn’t enrage me.
The precision shot when zoomed and burst shot when unzoomed was a nice change of pace.
I can’t wait to play it in Halo 5.

It has a scope at the top.
@eben gibon king: thanks for the steer, I missed that completely. The barrel looks much stubbier this time around, though, and shorter. But maybe that’s just depth perception failing me.
This time around, 343 need to sit down and make the forerunner weapons unique, not just reskins of UNSC weapons. But then you run into the problem of too many weapons in the sandbox… Good luck though!

The problem isn’t too many weapons in the sandbox so much as it’s too many weapons in the sandbox that function almost identically to one another. If they can add a lot of weapons that all feel unique, that have enough varying characteristics to make each one different in play from the last, then I don’t mind there being a ton of them.
I saw it as well, dang Lightrifle…
This was pretty much my reaction: http://www.nooooooooooooooo.com/
Since I did not like the Promethean weapons at all… They felt unbalanced and uninspired.
I loved the Promethean weapons in Halo 4 (excluding the Boltshot because it sounds like a bubble gun) and I’m glad to see that they’re back.
Oh yes! Nice spot.
I’d like to see them return.
Meh. They added some variety into Halo 4, but they were a lot less effective than I hoped they would have been. I hope they go the way of the needler and get a huge buff, otherwise it will just be a wasted opportunity for such an interesting arsenal of weaponry.

Whoa… is that a new rocket launcher model?? Interesting.
I just hope we get more FORERUNNER weapons. While promethean weapons were cool, the red/orange gets kind of old. I would love a glowy blue and silver rifle. And forerunner vehicles need to make an appearance, no sure this is the right place to be be saying that but hey, they do.
Anyone else notice the armor skins?
Recruit has a skull and flames for the helmet and another pie r for forearms has what looks luke checkered patterns.
Pretty sweet!

That was what I was trying to get at. Thanks for the clarification!

I love the armor skins! They look more pronounced and unique.
They could keep the forerunner ‘reskin’ weapons as map exclusive legendaries, like the Prophet’s Bane energy sword.
