Seems like even Microsoft knows 343 failed

Since a lot of you seem to lack any decent reading comprehension skills, I’ve re worded this paragraph.

It appears that Microsoft knows that 343 has failed and that the Halo series has an imminent death that they have chosen to place their support on a new developer to create “the next Halo”, which means the next big franchise for the Xbox.

EDIT: I never said they are making another Halo game, please stop assuming that I read this wrong.

"Microsoft Vancouver renamed Black Tusk Studios, seeking to double staff by year’s end for “next big entertainment franchise.”

Halo may not be Microsoft’s tentpole franchise forever. Microsoft Game Studios Vancouver has been rebranded Black Tusk Studios, and has received the go-ahead to get to work on “the next Halo.”

“What that means is we are working on Microsoft’s next big entertainment franchise,” studio manager Mike Crump told the Vancouver Sun. “We’re not working on an existing franchise, we’re looking to build the next Halo here in Vancouver, for example, which is really exciting. We are building something from the ground up.”
This news comes just months after Microsoft officially halted development on two games (Microsoft Flight and Project Columbia) at the company’s Vancouver outfit and laid off a small number of employees.
To create its new game, Black Tusk Studios is seeking to double its staff in the next year from 55 to over 100. It is not clear just what the company is making, though a report from May 2011 indicated the firm was at work on a AAA Kinect-enabled shooter."

Please just give it back to Bungie >.< BEG THEM IF YOU HAVE TO MICROSOFT, don’t do this to Halo… I have my childhood memories invested in this franchise ffs.

You read that article very wrong my friend…

Why give Halo back to Bungie? I would rather see the studio create something new. If they didn’t want to hand over Halo to Microsoft, i am pretty sure they would have fought really hard to keep the IP. They didn’t and i think they are better for it. It allows them to create a new IP with new ideas without the Microsoft overlords.

After all, i am rather tired of seeing sequels. New ideas ftw.

Some of you think Black Tusk Studios is making a new Halo game. The fact that you can’t read correctly troubling. They are making an equivalent of Halo in terms of awesomeness; a new killer IP to make people want to buy Xbox.

NOT A NEW HALO GAME.

If you would have invested 60 million in bungie like you did for 343i, Bungie would have made the best game ever, EVER.

It’s probably going to be an ODST Halo shooter for Kinect. Not Halo 5.

You entirely misunderstood the context of that statement. They said they were “not working on an existing franchise,” which means they are NOT going to use the name Halo or make anything too similar to it. What they meant by the phrase “we’re looking to build the next Halo” is that they’re going to build another franchise that is hopefully going to become as popular as Halo. It’s a strictly figurative sense. It’s like when someone says they want to become the next Freddie Mercury.

> Just thought I’d bring this up. It seems like Microsoft may be aware that 343 is failing and that Halo has gone down hill to the point that they’ve announced the support of another game studio to make “the next Halo.”

So true… Bungie seriously needs to come back…big time.

Also, you read that very wrong, my friend. Black Tusk Studios will be working on “the next Halo” as in “the next multi-billion-dollar, hugely successful, generation-defining title”. Or at least that’s their goal.

How can you say I misunderstood the context of the statement when I literally acknoweledged the fact that Microsoft knows the 343 has now caused the future death of Halo and that they need a new flagship game? (as in not Halo) Maybe I worded my original post poorly.

Bungie is working on Destiny which looks amazing.

Yeah they mean the next big step for Microsoft and bringing a new game to the next gen console that Blacktusk hope to be as defining as the Halo games are especially for the 360

lol -Yoink- yea he did.

No, he understood. It means they no longer have faith in halo, due to the thrashing 343 gave it.

This

> the fact that Microsoft knows the 343 has now caused the future death of Halo

lolno
Show me true evidence of that “fact”.

If you read the article you’ll read that it had been decided May 2011, before Halo 4 was even announced at E3. It has nothing to do with their lack of confidence in 343, which I doubt they have as they’re actually doing a decent job despite what people
on this forum claim.

So by your logic then Treyarch and IW have failed at CoD because Activision hired Bungie to create another AAA franchise with like 4 installments over the next decade? Seriously?

Peak population being lower than that of Halo Reach towards the end of Halo Reach’s life.
