Seeker and Waypoint Canonized?

Browsing the forums, have yet to see any answers regarding the thread title. Seeker seems to be an interesting addition as a bot from the Discourse forum software but overall is this overhaul supposed to give us as users a deeper dive into the story.

Of course I could be just in over my head here

I think the UI of the forums is very similar to the UNSC OS system they talked about in the update.
In a 4th wall kind of way, you could imagine the UNSC personnel using a similar looking system to the forums for all sorts of communication purposes.

Like the crew of a ship for instance; imagine a marine posting for suggestions on getting stains out of his dress blues, someone ranting about how awesome last night chow was, or organising inter-departmental sports matches in the mess hall.

This would be so cool, to kind of frame the user within this narrative would drive engagement up probably more than the previous forum ranks did and give the site even more purpose, a little more gamification.

100%!

Something like this could really let them lean into the AGR live-event stuff in the forums as well as the games.

Some of the old hands might remember the Superintendent practically taking over the BNet back in 2009, when ODST launched.

I’d love to see more of that sorts of interactivity as we move though the evolving story of Infinite’s multiple year plan.

Waypoint is already canon-ish. I think there’s mention of Waypoint in the EU for general comms between people within the UEG.

Seekers avatar is a Bee which is probably a callback to the I Love Bees campaign or a reference to the Bee emblem of the new spartan commander.

This reminds me of Star Citizen and its private social network Spectrum. An open forum that is integrated within the MMO itself and that of the canon of its universe.

I support the idea of integrating waypoints in some way into the Halo canon, as long as it is consistent and realistic to it.

I noticed that too! I wonder if that’s the default avatar for Discourse, or if 343i was able to customize it.

Maybe, read and responded elsewhere to find out there is no ARG element currently but one could be in the works knowing that some of the monitors were Section 3. Although I don’t know if the connection will be made to expand on that opportunity amongst the busy schedule they have rolling out this sites features and moderation.

pretty sure if there was a inter-departmental sports activity they would have been alot less fun once the Spartans got there. just a friendly game of capture the flag turns into a full scale battle between ODST and Spartans

That’s LITERALLY the bee sprite from the I love Beesā„¢ ARG. If I remember correctly, the bee sprite was featured on the website before the website was hacked by an A.I. (forgot her name.)

Waypoint is the canon social media site for the UEG. Hunt The Truth has a dozen recordings of calls done via Waypoint and I’m pretty sure it was supposed to be an in-universe blog set on the Waypoint platform (although I might be making that part up).

Would be interesting if they created a new Halo Waypoint app for xbox in this style, I could imagine it being an awesome evolution of the original app on 360 and a neat way of reusing the Halo Channel which no one uses anymore

Seeker is annoying. Keeps bugging me even tho I told it to shut up.

Ok to explain Seeker is a direct reference to the ARG i love bees.

Where Seeker is a Covenant AI ā€œtrojan horseā€ that tried to find the location of Earth but was sent back to 2004 where it caused havok and was eventually dealt with by the AI Melissas SPDR program.

The Seekers Avatar is from the ilovebees website where it was a gif of a bee.

Waypoint is another story where it was a App/Website first, then made canon in Halo: Glasslands!

This would be so cool to see in the mobile app, probably easier for them to do than a whole gamification of the website like that app did.

Love it. Wish we could get this. #343plz
