Seeing Jun recruit Locke

As we all know Jun has been one of if not, the recruiter of the Spartans in the Spartan 4 project. I’d love to see the moment Locke was approached by Jun to join the Spartans, Halo New Blood gave a nice little look into how Jun convinces each candidate to join. Seeing as how Locke is a new character being added to the fiction it’d be nice if we were given visual representation of this process. Maybe even a peek at the training facilities for the Spartan trainees. I know that given the fact that this is video game about shooting almost anything that moves, that packing it full of narrative has to flow with gameplay and be less of a movie, but it would be nice none the less.

I am certain Locke is not part of spartan branch and still work for ONI.

He’s probably both.

I think he is 100% ONI at the start of H5…but at the end who knows who he’ll be with.

hes still with oni so jun wouldnt have recruited him. however, it would make sense that he would still train w other spartan 4s and receive augmentations at the same center.

It would generally be nice to see him return in a game.

IF you join the spartan program You join that branch of the military, You are then Hired out to work for the other branches, But being a spartan means you are a emember of the spartan branch

I would love to see this as well

Since Locke is ONI we could also see a few characters that have appeared in the fiction before. Halo: New Blood SPOILERS BELOW

Having Buck being almost confirmed as being in Locke’s squad we could almost guarantee that Dare will also make an appearance.Having that said, even though Locke is ONI all Spartans including any special agent like the Headhunters went through the Spartan IV Program. After being inducted they are deployed on their missions and most likely do not report to Spartan Command, but their previous boss.

No it does not. ONI still makes the Spartan IV and I’m sure they have there own group of spartan that don’t belong to spartan branch.

did you read New blood it pretty much confirms this. Spartans are there own branch In order to be a spartan and get the procedure you have to Join the spartan branch, You can work with ONI and be an ONI agent But you’re still First and foremost a Spartan.

Yes I did read the book. It even say in the book that ONI generally handled the augmentation process of making the IV. I sure ONI has made some of their on agent in to spartan that don’t belong to spartan branch.

As deltaunithink has said and as I have previously stated, All Spartans including ONI officers and the spookiest of spooks “The Headhunters” go through the Spartan IV programs training before getting their sea legs. They go through an all new basic training program fitted for the Spartans to learn their new bodies, being that they gain a ton of muscle mass and height they need to relearn some things that were once second nature to them like scoping down a sight or even walking in some cases. Locke had to have been approached by Jun at some point after the events of Nightfall and offered the position. There is a slight chance that Locke was a “Special” case and had all his augmentations done in secret as well as the training that took place after, I would hope this isn’t the case but it is a possibility. I mean there are a whole slew of Halo Reach fans on the MCC forums ( I am not one of them, by any means. In fact I’d say I hate that game because it threw out already standing fiction, but I digress) so seeing the only character to survive the slaughter of NOBLE Team in another game would be a nice little pick me up to those missing them.

This is more then likely what happen. This is ONI we are talking about. I would not be surprised if they had a bunch of Spartans they made and trained that spartan branch has no clue about. I like to see Jun in game again but I for one don’t believe Locke is a member or was ever recruited to be in spartan branch. ONI all the way.

I see your point, maybe it’s just me and the way I like to perceive the fiction that wants to think that Locke was one of the dude bros like Buck and Romeo. I mean hell the head of ONI Serin Osman does still pull her rank with the Spartan branch, look at Spartan Ops she orders Commander Sarah Palmer to hunt and kill the smartest person in all of mankind “The most valuable asset to humanity” so ONI can easily have people trained within the Spartan branch then removed when needed to work on ops behind enemy lines.

> The Headhunter special operations program was a classified program conducted by the Office of Naval Intelligence, intended to separate the most elite SPARTAN-III and later SPARTAN-IV candidates and use them in classified special operations. Candidates would be placed in binary or lone wolf teams and be sent far behind enemy lines on near suicide mission in hopes that their efforts would greatly impact the enemy.-Headhunters Halo Nation Excerpt

I have stated that the Headhunters were trained as spartan IVs many times these men/women are the shadows of ONI’s hands. Now Locke could very well be a special case but I doubt it.

Maybe that why Palmer was so willing to listen to her over Lasky. Palmer really an under cover ONI agent.

Palmer would be the last Spartan to become an ONI spook soldiers that have had interactions with ONI steer clear of them when possible and Palmer is the definition of cookie cutter soldier “Do everything by the book grunt” she took her orders from Osman, who is far higher on the food chain than the newly promoted Captain Lasky. So she would have faced court martial if she disobeyed. Even the soldiers that do take up jobs in ONI know that they are going to be held to a life of lies and secrecy, as a character Palmer would not be any kind of undercover ONI agent. She is and as far as I’m concerned will always be straight laced I can never tell a lie Palmer.

Lasky would have faced court martial had she not tired to kill her. She a spartan and does not have to listen to anyone from another branch. I do agree with you on her. Just like to think of other reason why. She was just trying to keep Lasky as the captain And that why she did it.

Hell IN a new interview Coulter says that in halo 5 we wil see him become a spartan, so maybe they can have both Osman and Jun on a council discussing Locke and his potential team together.

Regardless I think Jun would have to be Involved at some point whether is BTS or not is unknown.
