Secondary Fire Modes. The Plasma Pistol has two fire modes. The Grenade Launcher has two fire modes. Primary fire is accomplished by tapping the trigger. Secondary fire is accomplished by holding then releasing the trigger.
Only certain things can be accomplished by the tap/hold system. What if there was a button on the controller dedicated to switching from primary fire mode to secondary fire mode so more weapons could have two unique fire modes?
Feel free to post any ideas for weapons with two fire modes.
The gun would store any energy taken from enemies in Primary Fire and allow you to redistribute that stolen energy through Secondary Fire. The amount of damage that you deal is the amount of damage you can heal. (Push and Pull themed)

Meh, The Focus Rifle would be more like :
Primary Fire, Tap Trigger: Fires a contained projectile that holds as much power as the Beam Rifle, for example. Overheats after two shots.
Secondary, Hold Trigger: Reach Focus Rifle. Heats up over time, less cooldown time than primary fire.
How about for what ever persision weapon is in the game for the UNSC for example BR it would fire burst for primary fire. For secondary you would shoot incedenary rounds, you would have a limeted amount of ammo when you spawn, it would be semi-automatic, after say 3 hits you begin to start on fire and then after two more u would be dead. There would be know ammo pickups for the ammo unless someone didnt use all of theres and u killed them and walked over there gun. So know ammo for it on the level.
Needler seacondary lawnches large cluster of needles that is used like a grenade.
Energy Sword secondary you would lawnch a large ball of energy moves a little slower than a fuel rod but does enough damage to take out your shields. The cost would be it takes up half your energy and takes 3 seconds to charge up shot and it yses 25% of the swords energy per shot. Also it would have a damage radius like a hand grenade. It also would start to fall at mid to long disttances.
Hammer secondary use other side to get a more brutal kill or use the end of the hammer by the grip to ise ravity to shove people a way or push grenades away. Bassically the force but would only work at close range and only two uses. You could hit the ground to get a higher jump to.
@^ The sword or the hammer could have a secondary fire that takes a second to charge up, like the Spartan Laser, but does a 360° spin swing that can take out enemies behind you. The enemy could think he has the drop on you as he sneaks up from behind. Little does he know you knew of his presence all along and are just charging your spin swing to take him out with perfect timing.
Not every gun should have secondary fire, though. Like a BR could have burst, single shot but a Needler is a Needler, alt fire modes would make it another weapon
How about a sniper could shot a small tracking device that sticks to players and viechals. Would have a 30 sec life span and could give tactical advise to teammates. Yo dude that guy i taged has a sniper stay clear or taged a tank.
Somewhere on the D-Pad would be nice. It would be cool holding a plasma pistol and it keeps on firing instead of the usual… I really, really like this idea. Nice thinking.

also what I was thinking, Crysis 2 and BF3 have this.
Being able to switch between semi-auto like DMR and BR Burst Fire at the touch of a button would be great if they balanced it correctly.
Sounds like Perfect Dark. Anyone played Perfect Dark? Both PD and PD:Zero have a secondary function for amost every weapon.
I would like this idea as long as the secondary fire modes don’t get too crazy.
What about something as simple as selectable fire modes? E.G. Br is is default burst fire and fairly accurate but you can hit down on the d-pad and switch it to auto for sustained fire at the cost of reduced accuracy and range.
What if secondary fire modes had to be unlocked by killing enemies? Enemies drop “Power Cores”. Power Cores enable secondary fire modes. Different weapons require a different number of Power Cores to enable secondary fire. In general, power weapons would cost more to enable.
These Power Cores could also act as path modifiers by allowing the extension of an Energy Bridge or activation of a Shield Door.
Power Cores are the currency of the battlefield. Think of them like skulls in Headhunter that can modify your weapons or the map.
