Secondary campaign player as MP Spartan

Since Halo 3, with the 3rd and 4th player being minor elites, ice always wanted to see our MP Spartan as chiefs battle buddy. In Halo 4 they brought multiplayer to cannon and even gave us a side mode with our MP Spartan. With Halo Reach, the campaign characters were you’re MP characters, however, only 1 player is acknowledged as existing by NPCs. So my hope is, with Infinite, the 2nd-4th players are slotted in with thier own spartan and acknowledged be NPCs, and maybe even the main man himself, as Chiefs backup during the campaign.

I’d like this very much, considering I’m not a big fan of Chief clones. Atleast with CE you could consider player 2 as Linda-058 if she hadn’t been killed and stuck in cryo. In Halo 2 again the second player was Chief too, and during the Arbiter’s missions there were two arbiters which was a bit jarring. Halo 3 implimented Chief, Arby, Usze, and N’tho and I thought that to be really welcomed and immersive complimenting. As much flack as Halo 5 got it was nice actually having a full team when playing 4 player coop because the characters would interact with eachother.

Summarized though, if they could make coop players either their unique characters or something different than “just another Chief” I’d be overjoyed. (Think people wearing armor of canon characters to show a complete Blue Team?)

On paper that sounds like a good idea, however some people like to play the whole campaign before trying the multiplayer and I believe they would be stuck with the boring default Spartan everybody will begin with. And even if you play the campaign and the multiplayer at the same time, it will take a while until you can earn enough armor pieces and coatings to design your dream Spartan. Not to mention that single-player and multiplayer will be kind of different packages, with the MP going F2P and playing slightly differently.

Well, I hope they give us the option to use our MP Spartan as Chief’s sidekick if that is possible, but I believe the default companion will be an existing character. Probably Blue Team for 4-player online co-op. For 2-player splitscreen it could be any character from BT or we could go crazy and have another character like Spartan Locke, Sarah Palmer, The Arbiter or someone new.

think more of the question of why not really. love for it to be our multiplayer spartan in campaign.

Rather this than 2 Chiefs yeah

How 'bout Chief and Team Red lol

I’d almost prefer anything over two of the same characters.

Lol, watch, second player will be the Pilot. Anyway, I would much prefer MP Spartan or existing character over another Chief, although I don’t mind the Chief clones.

So player one is always Chief and the rest are their own custom Spartan? Player one will often feel left out.
If you let all players be themselves, then you have campaign without chief. Halo is broken.

LMAO…honestly that feature you joked about sounds like a cool idea. When multiple players in campaign just have everyone be their own spartan with no Chief.

Just have everyone play as the Chief (as they should). But team-mates show up as their Spartans.

ie. On my screen I am the Chief and my partner is their Spartan. But on their screen they are the Chief and I appear as my Spartan.

Ok, this right here^^^

this works as well

Good idea, multiplayer Spartans could look cool in campaign similar to Reach cutscenes.

This is a good idea. Only downside is not seeing your own spartan even if you wanted to

Would be even cooler if they actually show up in cutscenes too, like the Arbiter did in Halo 3 (for the cutscenes he was not present for in single player)

I don’t think they’re doing that. Considering this campaign doesn’t seem to have John with a team, they’re likely just going to give us the classic campaign doppelganger.

Likelihood is almost certain. A tad unfortunate though.

Would mix it up a little if Elites were possibly playable, say you set your character as one and you were one if you were the 2nd player. Even if mobility would be different it would almost be like Halo 3 a tad ha.

This also gets me thinking about the Sangheili’s version of a grapple hook >>
