What is everyone’s opinion on CSR being tied to team wins instead of individual performance? I don’t want to bash 343, but I don’t know if I like it. I get that they are trying to make even teams and get people to be a team player.
I admit I’m not a top Halo player. But I’m not at the bottom either. Most matches I place in the middle. Sometimes my team wins, and I’m first on my team. Rarely but sometimes I place towards the bottom.
My Preseason Slayer KDA was 0.7, and I qualified in the Gold tier and also finished the season in the Gold tier.
My Season 1 Slayer KDA is 1.4, but I qualified after the ten preliminary matches as Bronze tier 5. Yeah. That’s right. The KDA is improved but I didn’t get a higher tier. I got a lower tier. Not even silver. Bronze! Seriously?
To me it’s looks like I got better at the game. It’s not a great number. But it is an improvement. Of course the overall KDA is still low. It takes a while to make up for the initial learning curve of Halo 5 (new controller scheme to learn, new maps to learn, thumb stick sensitivity, etc. Which by the way I think lowering the inner dead zone helped quite a bit. The controller is more responsive now!) But I’m talking about the individual KDA for team slayer.
If someone argues that I haven’t gotten better well I would counter and say I haven’t gotten worse. But I went from Gold To Bronze.
The reason I got that lower rank I think is because of those 10 preliminaries I lost like 8 of those 10 matches. I don’t blame the team. Hey I could’ve scored higher too. Some of those matches I did well and some I didn’t. I don’t like when people yell at teammates for not performing to their standard.
I don’t know. What does everyone think? I like the idea of having seasons, and I could raise to a higher level by the end of the season. And really none of it really matters. It’s just a rank that doesn’t matter. I still have fun. But it does make the game more fun.
Oh and why isn’t SR viewable in pre game lobby?
EDIT AND UPDATE
I just wanted to emphasize the problem I think is that the rank is rendered useless. It doesn’t really show how good someone is or if they are improving. It just shows if they got on a good team. It’s one thing if they want to tie who play against due to team wins. But if they do that then there should then be a separate rank that just shows performance.
If you list 8 out of 10 then sounds accurate. It goes up or down based on win or loss, thats it!
Your rank vs theirs will determine how much it goes up or down, but if you loss, it goes down, period. Ffa i think is different slightly because you go up or down based on your position.
Example, your gold and you play against a team of bronze. You will go up bit not much. Vs you win against platinum., you’d go up a lot.
I would prefer just a straight up 1-50 for individual playlists, and overall rank like in reach. 4 abs 5 has number ranks, so that’s fine but reach was cooler imo

Yeah I would rather CSR not be only based on team wins. Thanks you
I find it frustrating playing the team playlists on my own. The randoms are hit or miss. There are times where I feel my team just doesn’t want to win because they’ll all go negative. I can’t be a guardian angel to 3 other (hopefully competent) human beings. That being said I do enjoy how simple it is to rank up by just winning. I also enjoy how it is very forgiving by never knocking a player out of a division. That brings a few problems, but that’s why seasons help. I’ve also noticed that you can win all your placement matches, but if you’ve been playing with golds then you will also become a gold. The system has it flaws, but it is solid.
