I heard a rumor that the season system for MCC will be ending when Infinite launches later this year. I am unable to verify if it’s true or not so I thought I’d ask here. Will it be possible to earn the remaining season awards, me for example, I am missing significant content from Seasons 6-8. If the season system ends will there still be available challenges to earn season points to finish earning what I’m missing?
I apologize if this question has been asked. As a student I don’t have a lot of time to research things that aren’t related to my classes right now. Thank you to anyone who tries to help. Happy Hunting.
Unless you hear anything from 343i directly, take whatever rumour you hear with a pinch of salt. The Season Rewards aren’t going anywhere, neither is the Challenge system.
They said in the MCC September update…
‘As we think about the future, we’ve had a lot of conversations around how to best support MCC once Halo Infinite’s free-to-play multiplayer is up and running. We’ve agreed on two key points: One, we have more MCC work to do and support will continue; and two, as a studio it’s not ideal to run and continue shipping seasonal updates for two different multiplayer titles concurrently. So, while we very much have more updates coming – including more content, fixes, and features – the manner in which they are delivered is expected to shift. Starting next year, we’re targeting pivoting away from our current seasonal model and cadence to instead focus on smaller MCC updates that can land when they’re ready based on development status and studio roadmap alignment. These updates will continue to be free and will include the unreleased features and content from this year – as well as a continued effort to improve stability and tackle legacy fixes where possible. We still have a lot of goodness to deliver in 2022.’
They have said Season 8 will be the last season this year and that they are moving away from season style updates, but as far as we know the weekly challenges will continue to cycle giving some opportunity to get more season points.
