So the second skull in Cortana is now fixed. The flipping wraith in halo 2 is fixed. A lot of colour issues are fixed the classic HUD is back in CE. The updates are amazing and the game is getting so close to perfect now. Thanks so much 343. Keep it up <3
Love to see it. Halo 2 and CE have never looked better.
I am so happy that 343 Industries finally bring back the Classic HUD from the original Halo Combat Evolved Xbox version. Everything in Halo Combat Evolved really feels like the original Xbox version especially when it comes to the gameplay, visual effects and graphics.
Really cool how 343i asked what people wanted for Season 8 and really listened to requests for bug fixes. But, they still managed to add a ton of new content. Job well done to them. S8 is a memorable one to be sure.
The only negative seems to be that they accidentally included Akis, Mariner, and Exo on the list of sets disabled by the Reach legacy visuals toggle, even though they were legacy Reach armor pieces.
Easily fixed though, so here’s hoping it is when ODST gets that god-tier Firefight update!

I can’t find that toggle anywhere, can you please tell me where it is so I can turn these ridiculous mythical helmets off in Reach?

It’s in the Gameplay settings.

same place in the settings as Halo 3’s, though turning the new content off also turns the restored cut-content off too (either an oversight or a misunderstanding)
I’m loving the CE & 2 fixes too. Hope they polish MCC til it’s flawless.

I think there is argument to be made that if it wasn’t available in the 360, it should be removed by the toggle. Restored or not, the armor never made it into Reach.

there’s also a counterargument to be made about how restored cut content that was promoted during the games initial legacy run, a year in advance to it’s intended release and eventual removal, is not equal to imported or brand new scratch made assets from a decade later.
Their inclusion to the title was an expectation for Reach’s rerelease, as the hardware limitations and time constraints that had originally been the cause of their absence were no longer an issue that needed to be contested with. the only justifications for removing them on the toggles activation are an attempt to force legacy player to have to keep the toggle off in order to see a fix to the base game, or extremely misguided conservatism to a game which is receiving minor restorations to features as every Halo PC port of the Bungie era before it had.

Were they legacy pieces though? They weren’t in the OG Halo Reach build for 360. I know they were cut content and I think the legacy toggle was to give you the original 360 experience as is.

while they never made it to the release build, taken in the context of when they were developed as well as promoted (2011), they do not fall under the same category as the imported or brand new scratch made assets from a decade later, such as the H:O and Mythic sets.
The toggle was never about having the visuals be “exactly as on 360” (as there’s plenty of things that already ensure the game never will be), rather it was about preventing the loss of legacy models, as well as preserving the look and feel of legacy Halo, both of which the restored armor pieces fall well within the parameters of.
One thing that was fixed was PvE challenges actually now work in Reach Firefight.

Thank you! I swear that I could only see a Halo 3 option when I looked. I had a daunting suspicion that you weren’t able to toggle them for Reach until I saw people talking about it around here.
It’s all looking so much better so definitely some good work for sure and I can now play CE without the frameskips that appeared in season 7 on series s. Hopefully the frameskips now in ODST introduced by season 8 can also be resolved. Again this is on series s
I think season 8 has been really awesome tbh. And I really love the couple of skins that were added for weapons, vehicles and of course the new armors as well.
